INTERVIEW WITH ESTHER MIHINDU, DO
Before coming on board at Lam Vascular & Associates, Dr Esther Mihindu completed a rigorous fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the renowned Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, winning the coveted S. Timothy String President’s Award from the 42nd Southern Association for Vascular Surgery in my final year. In recent years (2021-2023), she has been selected as a Texas Rising Star by Super Doctors® and has been frequently published in the field of vascular surgery.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESS AND BECOME A FEMALE FOUNDER?
I am proud to be among the 67% of women who chose to dedicate their lives to vascular surgery. I am passionate about combining my crafted skill and nurturing spirit to be a physician who patients trust and love. At the core of my day-to-day, I genuinely like taking care of people. There is a greater good to medicine that has always appealed to me. My approach to patient care considers each patient’s overall health to better focus on personalized solutions.
WHAT UNIQUE PROBLEM DOES YOUR BUSINESS SOLVE, AND WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO ADDRESS IT?
As a board-certified vascular surgeon, I specialize in vascular and endovascular procedures, as well as limb salvage (amputation prevention) and vascular surgery. Along with the team at Lam Vascular & Associates, I treat: varicose veins, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease, abdominal aneurysms, and dialysis access (fistulas, grafts and maintenance).
WHAT SETS YOUR BRAND APART FROM COMPETITORS IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
I am honored to be part of the only Metroplex group to have an amazing state-of-the-art Angio Suite dedicated to outpatient endovascular procedures. Located onsite at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, the Angio Suite is amazingly efficient and very convenient for patients. I love the longstanding relationships I am able to form with my patients and their families.
HOW DO YOU DEFINE SUCCESS FOR YOUR BUSINESS, AND WHAT MILESTONES HAVE YOU ACHIEVED SO FAR?
Providing patients with compassionate vascular care is my personal standard for success. I am passionate about teaching/ sharing on all things vascular and endovascular and find great joy in presenting at regional, national and international meetings.
Lam Vascular & Associates is the go-to for comprehensive vascular care with special expertise in the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD) with minimally invasive techniques. Experience. Innovation. Compassion. That is the Lam Vascular way.
Experience
Lam Vascular & Associates was founded in 2009 by Russell Lam, MD, who quickly emerged as a nationally recognized leader in complex peripheral artery and venous interventional procedures. As Lam Vascular & Associates has grown over the years, so has the core team – each member hand selected by Dr. Lam for their expertise and experience in the ever-evolving field of vascular medicine.
Innovation
Lam Vascular & Associates is a respected leader in the latest and most innovative treatments for complex vascular disease. Because they invest in most advanced technology available today, they can offer minimally invasive procedures to better treat conditions that historically lead to amputation. They are also able to perform many procedures that once required a long hospital stay in an outpatient environment.
Compassion
Lam Vascular & Associates certainly combines impressive experience and innovative technology to treat vascular disease using advanced minimally invasive techniques. But above all else, they take the time to get to know our patients, learn their struggles and provide compassionate care in a welcoming environment.
Dr. Lam founded Lam Vascular & Associates in 2009 and quickly emerged as a nationally recognized physician in peripheral artery and venous interventional procedures. Dr. Lam has been named as a Castle Connolly “Top Doctor” every year since 2015, is one of America’s Top Surgeons by the Consumer Research Council of America, as well as being voted on the list of Texas “Super Doctors” every year since 2015 for Dallas vascular surgery! He also appears on the list of “Best Doctors in Dallas”, as voted on by his peers, for L Magazine. In addition to serving as principal investigator of several clinical trials, Dr. Lam has also been course director of many physician endovascular surgery training courses. He has written numerous articles and has given many presentations nationally on peripheral artery disease and complex peripheral interventions. Dr. Russell Lam is credited with preventing thousands of leg amputations. Many of these interventions have been the result of patients who sought a second opinion after being told their conditions are inoperable or not treatable with medical therapies.
