It had been with arduous contemplation and preparation of epic proportions that I had come to plan my journey across the Old Continents. I had endured the laborious task of poring over maps and literature, many of which were located in various far-off libraries to which often I had been required to travel in order to locate particular sought-after and necessary resources. Similarly, I had spent many nights wandering from tavern to tavern in search of the counsel of those better-travelled; those who had endured the bitter cold of the most northern of points, or the blistering depths of the desert. It was then that a thought occurred to me: what if there existed a place where one could seek the advice of an expert while his finger simultaneously trailed the creases of the world’s most rare and detailed maps? A place where intrepid explorers and travellers - old and new - could plan journeys, tame or perilous? A place explorers would make merry over tipples collected from all corners of the globe, exhibiting flavours and spices they thought that they would never come to encounter? Should such a place exist, it surely could be a society based fundamentally on one’s yearning for the unknown The Society of Exploration.
