Objective As a team of three, design and model the exclusive top oor lobby space for high-roller guests of the Monte Carlo hotel and casino in Las Vegas. The lobby must appeal to three user groups: old money, new money, and an entourage. My Work The lobby is comprised of various exclusive spaces that range from open to private, allowing the elite Monte Carlo guest to choose their experience. The contemporary furnishings and materials reect ultra-luxury, making use of the highest quality silks, crystals, sheers, leather, onyx, bubble walls, glass, and marble.

Objective Design an exclusive top-floor penthouse suite for “new money” guests of the Monte Carlo hotel and casino in Las Vegas. The base plan was taken from the existing hotel for authenticity. My Work Favoring excitement and surprises, the “nouveau riche” live in the moment. The concept of this suite provides them with the mystery and drama they crave. Upon unfolding and discovering a mystery in the form of an interior experience, these users regain their excitement for simple things and reveal their appreciation for finely designed spaces. The juxtaposition between the dark, moody spaces and circuitous plan, as well as the pops of brilliant color and dramatic lighting, makes for an unexpected space that keeps the user guessing. Royal colors and only the finest luxury materials were selected for the suite.

WOODY’S BAR REDESIGN
Objective Uncle Woody’s has been the “go to” dive bar near the University of Cincinnati since the 1970s. The owner wanted to freshen up the back bar, so she partnered with the Red Bull: Raise the Bar project to hold a competition for UC interior design students to bring the renovation to reality. The Red Bull: Raise the Bar project is a literal one - to re-envision a local establishment using a $4,000 budget and considering the needs of the business and community. Working in teams of four, we had three weeks to complete a forward-thinking submission that still respected our client’s history and functionality. My Work We created a concept/materials board, developed a budget, produced a detailed drawing set, and rendered a series of perspectives and elevations. The plywood boxes frame the alcohol, Woody’s paraphernalia, and student souvenirs, tying together the back wall. The rustic materials (such as the plywood, weathered metal bar top, antiqued mirrors, and chalkboards) help highlight the Red Bull cooler and foster the hometown feel.

Objective Responds to the 2014 PAVE (Planning and Visual Education Partnership) student design competition in the Visual Merchandising category. The competition was sponsored by the outdoor retail giant REI. The prompt was to create a new innovative inspirational camp department for current REI customers while trying to attract active outdoor millennials. My Work CAPTIVATE is REI’s new modular system for in-store sales and outdoor promotion. CAPTIVATE allows for retail flexibility and ease of use with its local materiality, different canopy options, and multiple configurations. Some of the CAPTIVATE units within the store promote the local parks and inform customers about the “pop up” outdoor REI experiences. Satellite REI camp departments located within various parks promote the flagship store and generate visitors and new members.

My Work (Continued) The CAPTIVATE module lends itself nicely to three Shop-in-Shop experiences within the camp department: Camp Life, Base Camp, and Camp Survival. The module appeals to all user types and can easily be adapted for large agship stores and smaller REI shops. CAPTIVATE is comprised of a hexagonal platform with a ramp and three display panels. It can be capped with an aluminum bar canopy, canvas shade sails, or a dramatic canvas tent (in orange), allowing for exibility and customization.

Objective As a team of four designers, model and render a furniture system that could be implemented in 2020, responding to the current problems of limited exibility and decreasing need for employees to travel to a physical workplace. My Work We created workspaces that are personalized, transformable, and responsive, thereby placing emphasis on the forgotten tool of face-to-face connection in the ofďŹ ce. The origami-inspired Responsive Membrane allows for customizable privacy through varying opacity and uses Solar-Smart technology. Each table/desk system is created with a Memory Membrane structure, allowing the surfaces to shift in any direction. Integrated plexiglass tablets, charging surfaces, and interactive dry-erase whiteboards ensure that the latest technology is included in every piece.

THE C SHELL: AIRPORT WORK UNIT
Objective How will we work in 2020? Design a work system that could be implemented in a corporate setting or in a public space. Entered into Metropolis Magazine’s design competition. My Work The C Shell work unit allows airport travelers to use their wait time productively. It offers protection and privacy from airport noise and distractions. Inspired by nature, the bamboo shell represents the protective shell around the user. The C Shell responds to current issues with airport kiosks, including susceptibility to hackers, vulnerability to viruses, old/slow systems, lack of privacy, and inactivity. The work unit uses environmentally sustainable materials such as bamboo, eco-felt, and recycled natural rubber. The color palette is designed to calm the business worker and stay gender neutral.

MANUAL SKILLS
My Work Shown here are some examples of my manual work from the University of Cincinnati. Every semester, interior design students are required to take a Skills course where we focus on building our level of skill in a certain area, whether that be hand rendering/drawing, sketching (our ideas, from photographs, and live), using watercolors, drafting, etc. I have also included two examples of a particular interest of mine - using recycled plastic bags to create new, beautiful, functional objects. I have crochetted and knitted multiple bags out of plastic yarn (plarn). My most recent project is the plarn pouffe, made from 250 crochetted bags and stuffed with even more bags (and Hand Rendered Image three old pillows). 15

MOBILE APPLICATION MOCK-UPS
My Work Over the past year, I was offered the opportunity to become involved with several graphic design projects. I have worked with several friends and new clients to do wireframe mock-ups of mobile applications as well as various other graphic print work. For many of the projects, I translate the idea into an aesthetically-pleasing, user-friendly application experience. For a few of the projects, however, I have been able to brainstorm with my friend/ co-creator and be a part of the development of the idea and graphics simultaneously. The projects shown here are Deed and Neighbor. I was part of both ideas from their inception.
