Jazz and Blues Fest is Here! Get the summertime blues this weekend as the annual Jazz and Blues Fest once again rolls into Ellicottville. Presented by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commernce, this weekend is all about taking your pick of awesome musical performances in many of EVL’s hot spots and on the outdoor Winery of Ellicottville stage along Monroe Street.

Madigan’s will present the Mick Hayes Band, while LTM Trio will perform at the Silver Fox. Check out Mojo Hand at EBC, Cousins at Dina’s or Growlers Blues Band at Villaggio. On the outdoor stage, from 1 to 4 p.m. each day, don’t miss Sugar Katty Cool on Saturday, featuring Carolyn (Wendel) Lansom, a 2005 ECS graduate. Special Events The Taste of Ellicottville returns Aug.13 and 14, from noon to 4 p.m. each day. This is your chance to sample the best that Ellicottville’s fine eateries have to offer as they set up “cafe style” on the streets. Tickets are $1 each and items are between $1-$4. Emma Freeman knows that her new Ellicottville coffee shop is one of the most anticipated openings of
the season. She knows that people really miss hanging out at the spot that used to be there – and especially out front at the iconic fire pit that is one of the Village’s most popular gathering places at all times of the year. So, when the Daily Grind opens next week (fingers crossed), she knows she wants to be that reliably comfortable home-away-from-
home. But she also wants to be the newcomer that offers something a little different. For Freeman, different means serving only the best coffee, offering a menu with something for everyone – carnivores, vegetarians and vegans alike – and caring for the planet.
