It’s the last weekend for fun on the slopes, even though there’s still abundant snow and the conditions are great. Don’t miss this last chance for some terrific spring skiing at Holiday Valley and HoliMont. But wait … is it possible there could be just one more weekend of skiing? Maybe, according to Jane Eshbaugh, Holiday Valley director of marketing. She said it is not a definite, but Holiday Valley could be open April 10-12 for one last spring fling on the slopes. Eshbaugh said the decision will take into account weather conditions and skier interest. So, if you’re wondering, be sure to check the snow report and the Holiday Valley Facebook page for confirmation as the date gets closer. While the season is pretty much over, shopping for great off-piste deals is not. For the bargain hunter, April is a great time for deep discounts on skis, boards, helmets, outdoor clothing, high-tech winter gear and more, so visit Ellicottville’s fine ski shops soon for the best selection. Last year at this time, I convinced my Dad to join me on a trip down the Cattaraugus Creek in a whitewater raft. I had been rafting a handful of times, kids in tow, down the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania with friends of mine who are guides.
Roadwork to Begin in April By Jann Wiswall
It has been a very good first three months of 2015 in Ellicottville. In a town where the major industry is weather dependent, visitors, residents and business owners alike caught a welcome break as Mother Nature delivered excellent snow and snowmaking conditions to the region. However, she said, “The season was far from ‘average!’ I saw tons of families out having fun, lots of young people enjoying their nights at the Valley and the
