Back to school, back to cooler weather, back to tons of fun in Ellicottville. September is no time to throw in the towel on adventure, and Ellicottville has a full lineup of activities to prove it!

Don’t miss Rock N’ Roll Weekend, sponsored by Northtown Auto, Sept. 16-18. Enjoy performances by local musicians all over the Village all weekend long. And on Sunday, the Classic Car Show returns for its 17th year, set up along the main drag from 12 to 5 p.m. Ellicottville is proud to showcase your cars, trucks, and rods, all set up in class order to be judged by a panel of experienced car enthusiasts with awards given in each class. Starting on Sept. 14 and running through Oct. 15, Night Lights at Griffis Sculpture Park are back. The park will once again be transformed as the trails and some sculptures are Illuminated with colorful and theatrical lighting, creating an almost surreal experience. This year’s show will highlight new features, including two sound systems. Check out the Nights Lights HQ Facebook page for more info. Take a trip to a local farm during National Alpaca Farm Days, Sept. 24-25, and run your fingers through the fleece of these oh-so-soft, gentle creatures. Alpaca farms throughout the county will provide tours, demonstrations and alpaca fashions for purchase. Rock n’ Roll Weekend Sept. 16-18

Are you ready to rock and roll? Don’t miss the first festival of the fall in Ellicottville -- Rock N’ Roll Weekend -- where classic cars meet classic tunes at all the hot-spots on this full weekend of non-stop entertainment. The event, presented by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce and sponsored this year by Northtown Auto, starts Friday, Sept. 16, at various venues in the Village. Party Squad will be back by popular demand at Madigan’s at 6 p.m. Miller and the Other Sinners will be rocking the house at Balloons at 7 p.m. and 2 Guys Drinking Beer will appear at 9 p.m. at the Gin Mill. College Credit Program to Expand at ECS in 2016-17

Ellicottville Central School students earned 384 college credits through the district’s Jamestown Community College connections program last year, Middle/High School Principal Robert Miller reported. Miller discussed the program

during the board of education’s Aug. 30 meeting. “We have had kids go to [State University of New York schools with those credits] and graduate in three years,” Miller said. “It’s nice to see kids and the community are benefitting.” The program has saved students in the district up to

$76,042 in college fees, he said. Miller reported that the district will be adding a precalculus college-level course this year to qualify more students for calculus. He called the addition a “game changer” for students. See College Credit page 8

Eagles Drop SGI in Season Home Opener

Senior Outside Hitters Marissa Hamilton and Alissa Gregory led the Ellicottville Eagles Varsity Girls Volleyball team to a victory over Springville Griffith Institute (SGI) in a decisive three match set Monday morning (25-17, 25-17, 25-23).

The Eagles are returning four starters from the 2015 season where they finished with an overall record of 9-10. Now in her second year as Varsity Head Coach, Katie Auge has high hopes for the 2016 season. “Last year in the beginning of our season we juggled a
