February 6-7 AMSOIL Snocross at Seneca Allegany Casino
Feb 6-7 at Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino Get ready for some harddriving excitement as the world’s premier professional snowmobile race kicks off this weekend at Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino. Sponsored by the International Society of Champions (ISOC), the AMSOIL Championship Snocross showcases more than 200 of North America’s top snowmobile racers and their high-flying, full-throttle, action-packed performances that promises fun for the entire family. ISOC racing crews are converting a million gallons of water into snow to fill a piece of property about the size of a professional football field. This is where riders will combine big-air jumps, impossible turns, incredible speed and extraordinary control to complete their races. Fans can watch more than four dozen races each day and night with as many as 15 vehicles on the track during a single race. Races are organized by age, gender and type of snowmobile. The entire event has an energetic, festive atmosphere, with vendors on site to offer food, beverages, gifts, apparel and gear. Some 15,000 snowmobile lovers attended last year, and even more are expected this weekend. Many are arriving by snowmobile themselves, using the area’s vast snowmobile trail network that leads directly to the resort. Tickets are available for Friday only, Saturday only or both days. Kids under 6 are free. Visit www. senecaalleganycasino.com.

One of the most unique events is the annual Penguin Paddle, approaching 30 years strong. This allday event on Saturday, Feb. 21, combines silly downhill action with raising money for the Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Program (LASP). Just what’s so “penguin” about this paddle? “The Penguin Paddle has three main components: A huge cookout at the bottom of Yodeler, an auction at Yodeler Lodge and the Penguin Slide down the bottom of Yodeler slope. Participants put on a garbage bag and slide down the hill on their belly ‘penguin See Penguin Paddle page 10
