TERMINOLOGY: SIGNATURE: A group of sheets, folded in the middle, and bound into the binding together (also called section or gathering) Âś GRAIN: When paper is manufactured, pulp and water flow and settle in one direction, this is called the grain direction. To find the grain direction, curl (not fold) a sheet in both directions (vertically and horizontally). Fold in the direction with least resistance. You must fold parallel to the grain direction. Âś TEXT BLOCK: The inner pages of a book (also called book block)
