HISTORIC EXHIBITION CENTRE ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION PART 1
The city of Canterbury is famous for its archaeological remains from the Tudor and Roman periods. This concept for a new Archaeological Exhibition Centre aimed to enhance the presence Kent Archaeological Trust set within the ancient city of Canterbury. The design creates a front window to the public on a corner site by North Gate Road, by adapting an existing mock Tudor style Edwardian building. Using solar gains and the movement of people through the buildings as the key design strategies. Situated in a wider masterplan route between the River Stour in the West and social housing in the East. The building utilises an open free layout based on the Modernist period to maximise footfall. The free plan best serves for the flow of movement offering minimal obstructions and spatial flexibility to the continually changing exhibition display in the public galleries. While providing adaptability to the private living accommodation situated in the existing Edwardian building.

HEALTH & WELLBEING CENTRE ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION PART 1
This proposal for health and wellbeing centre based alongside the historically significant Crab & Winkle line which was decommissioned in 1952 was the first rail line to provide season tickets in the world. The project was nominated for the Barcelona International Biennial of Landscape Architecture Awards. The key design principle is the physical expression of the psychological healing process in the transition of disorganised to organised forms. Centred around the Gardeners Hall, a welcoming collective space in the centre of the proposal provides high ceilings with dynamic lighting from above. The hall has a nucleated plan which extends into the surrounding gardens from the fireplace with smaller spaces to the sides, where people can sit alone or in pairs as part of their therapy. A series of gardens open to the general public are located adjacent to the hall for people to garden flowers, herbs, vegetables and other produce for sale to the public, to help fund activities in the centre. The project’s masterplan links the different elements of the gardens and facilities as a synergy of architecture and landscape.

URBAN SHEERNESS-ON-SEA ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION PART 1
This regenerative masterplan proposal provides a collection of mixed-use community-based facilities centred on music, dance, housing and food in Sheerness-On-Sea; and was nominated for the RIBA President Medal Bronze Award in 2015. The former royal dockyard town of Sheerness-On-Sea possess several important architectural monuments – including the boat store of 1858, described by Pevsner as one of the first modern buildings in Europe. However, it has declined from the withdrawal of the military over recent decades. This proposal symbolically sinks into the London clay drawing new paths of movement in the natural marshland creating a new focal point of the town. Replacing the void space it re-connects two parts of the town, the historic bold blue town to the more modern mile town. The urban plan aims to foster a greater sense of community; collective endeavour and mutual support. Providing a new sense of identity using the architectural language of the industrial boatyards. Providing a focus for activities, for Sheppey Islanders and from visitors from all over England.

LIBRARY FRANCIS HOLLAND BDP STAGE I EXPERIENCE
Our vision for the Francis Holland School Centre for Creative Learning combined an attractive garden spaces at first-floor level with informal library space below, which offers opportunities for independent study and group work and provides a distinctive and comfortable area for pupils to sit and read. Situated in the Sloane Square conservation area the project was completed in 2018 and was nominated for the RIBA South East Award in 2020. After graduating from the University of Kent, I worked at BDP as a Part I Architectural Assistant under the Principle Graham McClements between the years of 2015-2016. We initially won this competitive bid as part of a team of two, becoming a key project for me up to town planning at stage 3. At BDP I have worked on a wide range of large, medium and small projects. These included, but were not limited to; the University College of London Masterplan at stage 2, Westminster City Hall at stage 4, Barton Science Centre in Tonbridge at stage 3.

SCHOOL BARTON SCIENCE CENTRE TONBRIDGE BDP STAGE I EXPERIENCE
Tonbridge School’s science centre was the first in the country to be purpose built-in 1887. Our vision provided new teaching rooms, laboratories and a practical demonstration space within a threestorey open atrium at its heart. This open and flexible area hosts a wide range of events and activities. The centre includes a TV wall, a roof garden and beehives, a greenhouse and a library. This project was completed in 2019 and nominated for the RIBA South East Award in 2020. I have worked on a diverse range of disciplines including retail, education, housing and mixed developments. The work comprised of feasibility studies, competitions, drawings for the stage 4 documents, Revit modelling, minuting client meetings, site visits, neighbourhood consultations and attending in-office CPDs. During my stage I experience I worked closely with the directors, contributing my thoughts on how to improve the visual aesthetics, or applying BIM modelling skills.

OFFICES WESTMINSTER BDP STAGE I EXPERIENCE
64 Victoria occupies a prominent location in Victoria, an area which has undergone major regeneration in recent years. The building has been the headquarters of Westminster City Council (WCC) since its construction in the 1960s and the council has a long lease on this 22 storey, Landsec owned building. Typical of many mid-20th century office towers, it has a 3.1m floor to floor height with office space around a central core. Through a complete upgrade, a highly efficient building has been delivered, with new services, an innovative lift system and a transformed image, inside and out, enabling new ways of working. It has delivered a refreshed, high quality, flexible, and healthy working environment for WCC. Releasing office space for subletting by densifying its occupation, making the building fully accessible. Improved energy efficiency, and reducing operational costs.

HOUSING AUTOMATED ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION PART II
This project investigates universally deployable construction techniques, utilising the Amazon drone delivery service set in Avila, Spain. Over the course of the year, we developed our projects using architectural theory, practical mock-ups and codebase systems. As a unit we visited several manufacturing facilities and universities in Spain; Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid and Avila. In Unit 19 I studied under Gilles Retsin, Manuel Jimenez Garcia and Mollie Claypool. As a research unit, it developed the design of social housing using computer-aided manufacturing techniques, termed ‘Discrete Automation’. My project, ‘Foam Town’ awarded Distinction was developed over the course of a year, utilising a flight assembled modular kit of parts to build adaptable housing.

LIÁNHUA ENERGY CENTRE ARCHITECTRAL CONCEPT
The Liánhuā Energy Centre investigates the integration of fluid forms into the natural mountainous area of Guangxi, China. This concept for a fusion reactor plant is named after the Lian (Lotus) flower which naturally grows in the region, taking inspiration from its petal-like forms. The proposal theorises how the future of clean energy plants will grow in the near future. With a more harmonious integration of architecture and landscape at its core.

CORPORATE CITY ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION PART II
In my second year of masters, I studied in Unit 10 under CJ Lim and Simon Dickens. Our project brief was to research the environmental design of cities, using narrative themes of a fictional book to articulate the philosophical proposal. My master ’s thesis researched the themes of capitalism and greed from the Great Gatsby, critiquing the privatisation of cities as a cautionary tale of its social and environmental repercussions. The proposal theorised the Nestle corporate takeover of the City of York, as a newly created special economic zone post-Brexit. The project ‘The Sweet Proposal: A Cautionary Tale of the Corporate City’ went on to attain the second-highest grade at the Bartlett. Awarded the Bartlett Medal, was featured in Dezeen magazine in 2018 and later published as a book in architectural theory critiquing the privatisation of cities as an analysis of worker ethics.

PALACE OF WESTMINSTER BDP STAGE II EXPERIENCE
After graduating from the Bartlett School of Architecture in 2018, I re-joined BDP as a Part II Architectural Assistant to work on the Palace of Westminster: Northern Estate and Restoration & Renewal Programmes. This provided me with the opportunity to develop skills in the historic, government, workplace and highsecurity sectors. Based at the Westminster site office in the complex political environment of Brexit. I joined the project at Stage 2 to follow it through the remaining RIBA stages. The Northern Estate Programme is part of the Parliamentary Estate which covers the listed buildings north of Bridge Street. The project aimed to renovate the grade 1, 2 & 2* listed buildings to develop additional space and facilities required for the House of Commons to temporarily move out of the Palace for renovation. Including an operational chamber, committee rooms, MP offices, and House support services.

PALACE OF WESTMINSTER BDP STAGE II EXPERIENCE
Over the course of this stage II experience, I spent one year on the masterplan team, one year on the Parliament Street Building team and currently work on Restoration and Renewal team. Working closely with the Chairman of BDP and the lead directors, embracing responsibilities as the opportunities arose. Throughout this experience, I have completed Stage 2 and 3 contract drawing deliverables and the design and access statement to accompany the listed building applications. This incorporated the proposed site sections, plans, site analysis drawings, fire safety and CDM plans. While on the Parliament Street Buildings team I was package lead on BDP’s largest new façade on the parliamentary estate, the Canon Row facade up to detailed design. As part of the strong sustainability approach, we retained the steel-reinforced concrete frame across a broader masterplan proposal. While in the Masterplan team I was appointed to the position of BIM and lead visualisation coordinator. Also leading the design of the Canon Row Canopy, a masterplan infrastructure proposal for a 50m long canopy leading up the entrance of the new House of Commons. As well as the design of the entrance gates and security kiosks around the site through to town planning.

PALACE OF GINGERBREAD BDP STAGE II EXPERIENCE
As part of my extracurricular activities, I was the team lead of 15 people for the 2019 Gingerbread City BDP submission at Somerset House. This annual exhibition is curated by the Museum of Architecture and aims to connect the public with architecture through a fun and innovative display featuring an entire city of over 100 buildings crafted from gingerbread by architects, engineers and designers. This city explored the theme of transport and our design created the Palace of Light to illustrate how heritage buildings can be readapted and restored for a greener future and how making them more sustainable is an important part of their historical preservation. For the exhibition we have adapted the historic palace of Gingerbread City into a solar tower, metaphorically transferring reflected sunlight into clean energy for the entire city. Positioned at the city’s highest point, the palace is now a central hub for a zerocarbon transportation system which uses electric drone taxis and bikes docked at charging trees. The new elements on a green roof and solar tower are clearly defined using a timber waffle structure to separate them from the old.
