SUNRISING
Few of us are up before the sun rises. Even fewer are up above tree-‐line before first light. “Sunrising,” or hiking a mountain to watch the sun rise at the summit, is an otherworldly experience. The woods are dark, the trail is lit by the moon and your headlamp (set to red, because who would want to ruin the view of the stars?) The sounds of the woods are different at night, full of nocturnal animals and absent the sounds of other hikers.
