editor’s note tips on illustration locker doodles! featuring the illustrators junhao yvonne bryan
In our school of ADM, while artistic creations come alive, I believe that there always instances when we end up scribbling randomly, drawing aimlessly with our pencils just to get ourselves away from work once in a while. Being one that loves illustrations and a victim of “doodling, I have decided to come up with this special issue for ADM, featuring various doodles that we ADMers do, exposing these illustrative tendencies through interviewing and featuring some known illustrators from our school, also the illustrations founds around the corners of ADM for example, on our lockers. These mindless doodling then reminds us of how the creative process usually starts from: the pencil. and how we use this amazing tool in brainstorming, and first creations of ideas and concepts and first generations of visuals. Doodling is a wonderful thing and we should continue doodling! Enjoy this publication.
illustration 1 Be visually-infused with inspiration from other illustrators. Do not stop look at other illustrations, open up your scope and visual vocabulary. Look at other style and be open to them because illustration can take any form.
2 Draw what you like. Choose an interesting subject matter that you would really like to work on. That will increase your interest level and give you more motivation to draw better and happier!
3 Never stop doodling and drawing. Anytime when you can draw, just do it! continue to scribble and you will soon find your direction and style.
lockers one of the visual distinction in ADM would be the illustrated and designed lockers we have here. it was actually part of our GD1 project in Visual Communications. i like to dabble with illustrations and fuse them into contemporary art. my works consist of a variety of art styles and i gain inspirations from everyday people and life which are translated into my illustrations. i have also created an alter ego of myself in the form of a metamorphic creature in a visionary universe that is in search of discovering and creating dialogues with my audience.
