Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) Training Elmhurst’s qualification course provides a fantastic opportunity for those completely new to and familiar with the world of energy assessment, to become a fully qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA), certified by an awarding body. All residential properties in the UK require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) before being marketed for sale or let. A DEA is a qualified individual who undertakes energy assessments for residential properties in order to generate these EPCs. As part of their energy assessment work, a DEA will visit a property and collect data on walls, heating and ventilation, which they will enter into approved Reduced data Standard Assessment Procedure (RdSAP) software.
First steps into a Career of Energy Assessment No previous experience or qualifications are required for individuals to become fully trained as DEAs, which makes starting a new career in this area relatively straightforward. Individuals can work for a company or for themselves, where they can manage their own workload. Some individuals use this vocational course to supplement their existing income, due to the flexibility of the work.
