Neighborhood Library March Design studio 1

Neighborhood Library March Studies- Design Studio 1 Following the completion of my Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, I embarked on my Master’s in Architecture, marking my transition into the field of architectural design. This project holds special significance as it represents my initial educational experience in architectural design, where I engaged in extensive research, encompassing physical planning, case studies, and the study of guidelines and standards. Within this project, we formed groups of four individuals to conduct site studies and analyses, leading to the collaborative development of site designs. However, it was at the building scale where individual design autonomy came into play. Moving through the design phases, we began with the schematic design stage, utilizing Rhinoceros for digital modeling and incorporating hand sketches. The subsequent phase involved modeling and project preparation in . Remarkably, all aspects, including interior design, image renderings, and exploded-axonometric diagrams, were exclusively created within Revit, harnessing its integrated rendering engine.

Jamshidieh Residential Complex March Design studio 3

The Fundamental Module Division

Jamshidieh Residential Complex March Studies- Design Studio 3 The Program was to design a 120 units housing complex for Bank employees. The designated lot was a naturally-rich past garden having a significant slope and local water streams. I deployed a modular system based on parking space dimensions 7X7 meters, as the means of translating the physical plan of the complex to dimensions and defining the typology. Due the inherent slope of the site, to feel the ground’s topology, I decided to consider most of the unit types as split-level. Based on the Physical planning and the user’s requirements, I defined various unit areas resulted from multiplication in the fundamental module. All of this modular system and units typologies and areas, named granules, are depicted in the following table.

Hestooran Restaurant Interior Design

Hestooran Restaurant Pargar Design Studio- Interior Design

Duty: main design associate This restaurant is located on the rooftop of a modern building and was planned to have Persian cuisine. The main idea was to recreate the ambiance of a Persian house featuring its most familiar images, ambiance, and feelings.

The Hess Cafe The cafe is a semi-independent area which is connected to its own terrace.

17

View to the VIP rooms They are meant to resemble Persian House laterally-connected rooms.

Entrance Lobby The idea was to create a space completely secluded from the entire restaurant.

Park Residential Building Architectural Design

Park Residential Building Pargar Design Studio- Interior Design Duty: Detail Designer This building is free-standing located next to a neighborhood park and has views to all directions. The idea was to create a wave-like form on the facade brick skin that embraces the rectilinear interior spaces creating diverse ambiances in the space in-between the two layers. The design director in Pargar design studio is seriously focused on fabrication and bringing artifacts to the building, which is conspicuously visible in the details. I designed and prepared the construction drawings for all the metal, wood, and brick works with Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, and Auto CAD, based on Persian carpet motifs.

CNC-cut metal Handrails

20

Third Floor Plan The contrast between the wavy exterior brick facade and the rectilinear outer walls creates variable-width space for the terraces that results in divers views and conditions. Terraces are bordered by perforated-metal and brick mesh handrails that creates shadow- light patterned during the day.

21

Pedestrian Entrance Door The design director asked me to design all the decorative objects and patterns derived from Persian carpets and textiles. By analyzing the patterns with the Grasshopper, I produced differentiating squares to be cut and engraved by the CNC cutter machine.

The Main Lobby Wall The same process mentioned for the entrance wooden door was performed on metal plates to produce the wall covering frames for the main lobby of the building.

Wave shaped Brick double Facade The space created between the double facade layers resulted in terraces with diverse qualities, bordered by perforated-metal and brick- mesh handrails that has light-shadow plays during the day.

The Main Staircase The staircase looking to the west and neighboring park was covered with brick mesh wall to preserve the light and view of the surroundings while providing privacy for the inhabitants.

Eigal Office Interior Design

Eigal Office

Frame Design Studio- Interior Design Duty: Main Designer, construction Supervisor This Office was the headquarters of a renowned brick factory, located in an office high-rise. The purpose was to omit the interior walls as much as possible and substitute them with glass partitions. As a result the light penetration depth increased and relationship between spaces promoted significantly.

23

In this project we designed and manufactured a great number of items from the glass partitions to the tables and dividers. It was a great experience in manufacturing.

Villa No. 23 Metamorphosis Method Office Duty: Design director This Villa was one of a seven-villa project and I was the design director of all and the main architect of one of them. The idea of this villa was to employ the spatial organization of the traditional Persian house that is consisted of a central court yard that rooms are organized in one to layers around it. Rooms are connected through an overall outdoor front corridor together. The central yard and the peripheral corridor is employed to connect the interior spaces while preserving their independence. (Status: unbuilt)

Tall Mirror- 60x180 cm- Black Glass Frame

Duty: Founder, Designer During the past ten years, I have contributed to or completed several architectural and interior design projects; in most of them, we designed and fabricated numerous pieces of furniture Those experiences enhanced me by getting to know different materials, from metal, brass, and bronze to stone, wood, and glass. Moreover, I got acquainted with various artisans and fabricators who are familiar with our taste and sensitivities to quality. After a few years, I decided to focus on this section independent from architecture and develop it as an entrepreneurship. I started to design and fabricate several pieces of furniture and home ware objects. I registered a trademark for this small business and named it BONEH OBJECTS; its products have been being sold in art showrooms and concept stores for the past three years.

Glass Box Coffee Table

Glass and Mirror Coffee Table

It was the firs table that I made with glass and in fact it is in praise of transparency and simplicity of glass, above all its materiality.

It comes in three colors clear, bronze, and gray glass. It has been one of the Boneh Object’s best sellers and I have sold eighty four of it, mostly the gray color, during the past two years.

Glass and Mirror Coffee Table

Acoustic Table

Stony Mezze Platter

This coffee table’s dimension is 90x90x36 centimeters and is made of glass and mirror. The table tops and vertical planes are all of 6 millimeters thick superclear glass and the bottom plane is from 6 millimeters thick clear mirror. Under the bottom mirror is a conical-cut edge MDF plane colored black which stands on a central 5 centimeters high pedestal that holds the whole table hanged from the floor and prepares space for being uplifted by hand.

It is a piece from a collection of acoustic panels designed for a house to reduce the modern house empty walls reverberate.

This mezze platter is made of two different Persian stones sticked together with a tiny layer of stone glue.

Wool- shedding Tool, Asiabar Village, Iran

Duty: Director of Interior Spaces Committee Asiabar is a village on the Northern slopes of the Alborz mountain, in a non-humid region in the heights. It has records of ancient habitations and a rich architectural heritage. There were proficient artisans and fabricators manufacturing skillful tools and objects. Existence of a well-developed market and various shops are signs of the village’s prosperous past in the region. There were three main types of houses regarding the construction techniques and space organizations. The main building technique consisted of stone foundation, timber frames, truss structure and mud or wood claddings.

32

Plan This is a developed sample of the typical plan of the identified typology of porch house in this village. A front porch, living spaces, and a kitchen.

Longitudinal Section The upper level consists of both closed and semi-open spaces. The front porch is a four-season space that was open in the past and has been covered by windows during the past years.

The identified typology of porches- house In this type there is an identical front porch that is the main living space during the year and acts as the hub of the house that connects other spaces and residents together. It is mostly used by women in family for doing household and cooking. Cross Section In this type spaces are organized in two main levels: ground level for storage and animals and the upper level for the family.

33

The porch space This section cut through the porch depicts the relationship of all the living spaces through this porch.

In the past, the whole family lived in the front room and the back room was the guest room.

In the past the animals lived with the family in the front rooms but after the girls objections, they were moved to the back room previously used as the guest room.

This case is for a small family that let them plan the house as single level. The roof structure is still a wood truss but the cover was replaced by tin plates.

In the past at its most used days, there were two parents and three daughters living in this house.

Front View Another case of the identified porch house that the porch is smaller. The stable is in the back room on the ground floor. The roof was originally made of thatch but had been replaced by this tin roof about ten years ago. The walls were made of mud-straw but had been plastered afterwards.

34

Front View The original building was the usual linear type in the village and the right wing has been added to the house later.

35

Site Plan Houses are consisted of separated masses scattered in a lot. The main building is the living spaces and the others are usually bakery oven, storage and stables.

Two-layered house In this type spaces are arranged in a single level that separates the spaces laterally. Back rooms are for storage and animals.

The roof structure Wooden truss on timber frames standing on a stone foundation of gravels and pebbles is the structure of this house.

Single-story house In this type house is divided as front and back spaces and the front is for the family living areas.
