College is a time for learning — but no one said you have to do it all in the same zip code. Or even in the same country. Study abroad and your worldview will change forever. Elon’s 100+ programs prepare you for a lifetime of global understanding and exploration. Closer to home, Elon’s StudyUSA offers programs for students to explore diversity of culture, worldview, geography and climate in the United States.
The choice is yours: study for a Winter Term, semester, summer or academic year
72 percent of Elon seniors have studied abroad at least once.
The university offers innovative programs, taught by Elon faculty, during Winter Term. These January programs vary in cost and include international airfare; all accommodations and transportation abroad; and entrance fees for museums, cultural sites and events related to the course. And there’s no need to wait — students are eligible to participate in Winter Term programs their first year at Elon. Plan to study abroad for a semester or a year if you’d like to take a variety of courses in your major, minor and core requirements while immersing yourself in another culture and language. While abroad, many Elon students pursue research, service and internships. International internships can be completed for academic credit and are available in a wide variety of countries including Australia, China, India, South Africa and Spain.
A hallmark of the university’s strategic plan, The Elon Commitment, is a goal to provide 100 percent access to global study. To meet this goal, additional need-based scholarship funds are available. In addition, some semester programs can be financed for about the same cost as a semester on campus, plus airfare and spending money.
