PURSUE SOMETHING GREATER The Elon MBA builds leaders. Whether you want to advance in your industry, transition to a new career or launch your own business, you’ll leave this program with the skills you need to make it happen. Elon students are tenacious self-starters. They leave the status quo in the dust and are guided by strong personal ethics. To serve that ambition, the Elon MBA provides all of the advantages of a full-time program in a part-time setting, including two locations, career services and international travel.
Building a Better World The Elon MBA teaches students to master theory and then apply it to the opportunities that drive businesses in a global economy. We learn best through experience, so the Elon MBA combines collaborative, face-to-face classroom time with hands-on work with firms such as Biscuitville, Southland Electric, LabCorp and Carolina Biological Supply. As part of that work, Elon MBA students have completed process improvement projects, created market expansion plans, analyzed communication strategies and suggested pathways to market access.
Andy Hadsell ’13
Senior Associate Engineer, Unit Manager, Amec Foster Wheeler Andy is a hands-on learner. He appreciates theoretical concepts, but he wants to see how they’re actually used.
Learning the material “was only a small part of earning the MBA,” he said. “Working with faculty was key in actually applying my newfound knowledge. ” At Elon, he took a course on the practical application of innovation; he won a national case competition applying statistical analysis to baseball; and he studied in Singapore and Vietnam. Today, Andy leads a team focused on water resources planning, civil engineering design and geospatial solutions.
Jordan Ulrich ’12 Project Manager, BE&K Building Group
Jordan craved professional flexibility. With a background in project management and engineering, he wanted to add business savvy to his skillset. “I chose the Elon MBA because it provided value without sacrificing quality. The flexibility of the class schedule also allowed me to tailor my course load around my professional schedule,” he said. Jordan, who completed study abroad experiences in Singapore and Vietnam, said a key benefit of the program was building meaningful relationships and garnering diverse experiences. After Elon, Jordan accepted an offer to work in Darwin, Australia in an engineering management role with KBR, Inc. After three years abroad, he is back in Research Triangle Park.
It has been amazing “to see all the diverse paths people have taken and it has certainly expanded my professional network both regionally and internationally. ”
Bloomberg Businessweek’s “Best Business Schools” ranks the Elon MBA North Carolina’s
top part-time program.
SET UP FOR SUCCESS Elon MBA students are busy, working professionals and the program is intentionally designed to provide the career benefits they demand within their existing schedule. To help manage your professional and personal priorities, you can complete the 39-hour program at your own pace. Enroll in the spring or fall, take one class at a time and earn your degree in 33 months, or take two classes at a time and finish in just 21 months. Classes are held one evening per week from 6-9 p.m. so you don’t have to take time off from work to get to class. Further maximize flexibility by taking classes on the Elon campus or at The Solution Center, which is located off the Page Road exit of Interstate 40 in
Research Triangle Park. All core courses are offered at both locations, as well as most electives, so you can easily complete your degree at either location, or a combination of both. In all cases, classes are offered in a face-to-face setting and are taught by Elon faculty.
The Princeton Review ranks Elon
the nation’s #1 “best administered” business school.
ACCEPT ANY CHALLENGE Elon MBA classes combine the benefits of business theory with practical application. Master the material and then put your newfound knowledge to work. As part of their studies, the Elon MBA offers students access to five analytics courses. The program also hosts an annual analytics conference dedicated to the latest developments in data visualization, big data management and cloud computing.
Center for Organizational Analytics The MBA program unites all Elon faculty and students involved in analytics research. The Center for Organizational Analytics works with corporate partners, including SAS, Amazon Web Services and Hanes, whose representatives serve on an advisory board and collaborate with faculty on research and curriculum ideas. The center empowers small businesses to use analytics, and will work with the North Carolina Center for International Understanding to make better decisions for the state.
“Elon’s MBA classes gave me not only necessary information, but advanced knowledge and field experience. I learned prescriptive, predictive and descriptive modeling techniques, and also key concepts related to data and text mining.
