As an Odyssey Program participant, Sean took part in a service trip to the Mississippi Delta where he worked with at-risk middle school students. The finance major also had the opportunity to study international business in Barcelona and the Pacific Rim, which gave him global experience and a leg up when he entered the workforce. Attending college was always in Sean’s plan but after his family was financially devastated by the economic downturn in 2008, the path to a fouryear degree and a successful career seemed out of reach. Now an investment analyst for PGIM Real Estate Finance in Charlotte, N.C., Sean understands the impact the Odyssey Program has had on his career and future. “Odyssey opened my life up to a bunch of experiences I wouldn’t have had otherwise,” Sean says. “It gave me the tools to succeed after college.”

Courses focused on international business and Spanish consumed much of her days, and cocurricular involvement in the gospel choir and as a Leadership Fellow rounded out her experience. And above all, it was the students, faculty and staff she encountered through the Odyssey Program that became her stand-in family. After graduating, Brenna worked as a digital technology consultant for three years at Oracle and then earned her MBA at Washington University in St. Louis in 2018. She now works as a management consultant for Accenture.
