IN THE BEGINNING: I didn’t go home until December of my first year, and I still stay up late talking to friends from home. But I wanted an East Coast college and Elon’s School of Communications sold me.
AND NOW: I’m getting exactly what I want out of my time here. I’m a public address announcer for Phoenix Athletics, which has allowed me to travel up and down the East Coast. I also host two shows on the student radio station, and I spent January in the Dominican Republic for a class on baseball and tourism.

If you want to go home on weekends, this might not be the right school for you. But if you want to learn about new cultures and ideas, think about Elon. I’ve immersed myself in a way that wouldn’t have happened if I’d stayed closer to home.

OUR ALUMNI AND PROGRAMS ARE EXPANDING ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Elon has 32 alumni clubs and chapters, including a presence in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle. Elon alumni on the West Coast work at companies including MTV Networks, Edelman Public Relations, University of California Berkeley, TAG Advertising, Lockton Insurance Brokers, Teach for America, PMK*BNC and Pop Sugar Studios.
MINORS: Business Administration, Psychology and Leadership Studies
IN THE BEGINNING: I saw college as a time to grow and thrive, and I needed a strong community with faculty mentors and peer support. Elon’s academic offerings were also a major pull; I knew I could assemble my personal experience to suit my professional goals.
AND NOW: I’ve found a community that pushes me to become my best self. So far, the Service Learning Community has been my defining college experience. I spent my first year living with 17 people who share my passion for service, and now they’ve become my family.
BEST ADVICE: Being away from home has shown me how much I appreciate where I come from. And ultimately, I’d like to go back to California. This time away gives me the experience of trying something new, and the security of knowing where I want to live.
