ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF BEING IN THE EU Aitor Ayerdi, Joanes Salgado, Ander Carmona, Unai Guembe and Iñaki Azkoitia
ADVANTAGES 1.- RIGHT TO VOTE. Every president.
citizen has the right of being choosen or chosing the
2.- RIGHT TO CONSULATE PROTECTION. If you have any problem you must be helped in the consulate of your country. For example: earthquake. 3.- RIGHT TO LEAVE OR STAY IN ANY COUNTRY OF THE EU. If you present your ID card number or pastport. For example: erasmus.
ADVANTAGES 4.- RIGHT THAT DEFENDS THE TRAVELERS. If you have any problen while you are travelling in the EU you have the right of being helped. For example, if you are disabled. 5. It creates a more influential economic block. By having several small nations
joined for one economic purpose, more influence can be applied on local and global economics. 6. It creates harmony on the continent. In the past, European nations were often combative with one another. But being in the European Union has helped to lessen the number of conflicts that have happened. 7. It has helped to modernize countries. Apart from all the new buildings, being in the European Union has improved human rights, economy, and has prevented discrimination.
ADVANTAGES 8. The European Union has helped to improve local environments. Since the formation of the EU, the quality of the seas and forests that are found in the continent have improved dramatically.
DISADVANTAGES 1- More populated or industrial countries can attract more easily inversions to their country, whereas, the others, have more difficulties to attract inversions. 2-If some country is in bankrupt, the other countries had the obligation of giving financial support to that country. (For example, Greece)
3-Some countries can lose sovereignty. 4- If you belong to the EU,, you can have good relationships with the countries inside EU, but, the relationships with the other can be wronged.
DISADVANTAGES 5- It costs money. Member states are providing billions in support to the European Union every year. This is in addition to other commitments, such as the contribution that is asked of NATO nations. 6-It lacks transparency. The election of the European Commission is not transparent. The Commission has the authority to wield plenty of influence and power, but the average person has no say in who represents.
DISADVANTAGES 7-Problems of the Euro. Membership of the EU doesn’t necessarily mean membership of the Euro. But, the EU has placed great emphasis on the single currency. However, it has proved to have many problems and contributed to low rates of economic growth and high unemployment across the EU.
OUR OPINION
From our point of view the EU has advantages and disadvantages but we think that it is better being on it because, although you may think it doesn’t help you, in a dangerous situation or when you least hope it, it can save your life.
