Λίγα λόγια από εμάς Ξεκινώντας τον Αύγουστο, μια παρέα 7 διαφορετικών ανθρώπων, δεν μπορούσαμε να φανταστούμε το πως θα εξελισσόταν το πρώτο εξάμηνο της θητείας μας. Μια καραντίνα, ένας μεγάλος αριθμός δράσεων, ατέλειωτες βιντεοκλήσεις και πολλές, γεμάτες συναισθήματα στιγμές είναι μόνο λίγα από όλα όσα μας έρχονται στο μυαλό. Ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ για την πίστη σας σε εμάς και την ανταπόκριση σας σε όσα προσπαθήσαμε να υλοποιήσουμε αυτούς τους έξι μήνες. Σας περιμένουμε στα επόμενα! One quarantine, a large number of events, endless video calls and many, emotional moments are just a handful of all the things that come to mind. Συμμετοχή σε Εθνικές και Διεθνείς Συναντήσεις

A. International Area Meetings Ήδη από τις πρώτες μέρες της θητείας μας ως Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της ELSA Thessaloniki είχαμε τη μεγάλη χαρά να συμμετάσχουμε στα τελευταία International Area Meetings της ELSA International, συγκεκριμένα στο X Online Supporting Area Meeting of ELSA (SAM), το X Online Key Area Meeting of ELSA (KAM) και το LXI Online International Presidents’ Meeting (IPM), στα οποία είχαμε την ευκαιρία να παρακολουθήσουμε ενδιαφέροντα workshops και να αλληλοεπιδράσουμε με μέλη του Δικτύου.

B. 78TH Online International Council Meeting of ELSA (ICM) Το διάστημα μεταξύ 8 και 15 Νοεμβρίου, παρακολουθήσαμε το διαδικτυακό 78ο ICM της ELSA International, το οποίο εξαιτίας της παγκόσμιας υγειονομικής κρίσης, πραγματοποιήθηκε για ακόμη μια φορά διαδικτυακά, δίνοντας μας άλλη μια ευκαιρία για συζήτηση και ανταλλαγή απόψεων με άλλα τοπικά και εθνικά παραρτήματα του Δικτύου.

Μεταξύ 27 και 31 Νοεμβρίου, μαζί με το Διευρυμένο Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της ELSA Thessaloniki, συμμετείχαμε στο 48ο NCM της ELSA Greece, το οποίο διεξήχθη διαδικτυακά. Τις ημέρες αυτές μας δόθηκε η ευκαιρία να έρθουμε σε επαφή με τα υπόλοιπα μέλη του Εθνικού μας Δικτύου, ανταλλάζοντας καλές πρακτικές, φρέσκιες ιδέες και ενδιαφέρουσες απόψεις.

Ακαδημαϊκές Δραστηριότητες

Α. Ενημερωτική εκδήλωση για τις Διεθνείς Εικονικές Δίκες Η Ενημερωτική εκδήλωση για τις Διεθνείς Εικονικές Δίκες πραγματοποιήθηκε διαδικτυακά την Παρασκευή 2 Οκτωβρίου. Οι συμμετέχοντες είχαν την ευκαιρία να πληροφορηθούν για τους δύο Διαγωνισμούς Εικονικής Δίκης της ELSA, τον Διαγωνισμό Εικονικής Δίκης σχετικά με το Δίκαιο του Παγκόσμιου Οργανισμού Εμπορίου (John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO Law), με ακαδημαϊκό υπεύθυνο τον κ. Παναγιώτη Γκλαβίνη και τον Ευρωπαϊκό Διαγωνισμό Εικονικής Δίκης Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων (European Human Rights Moot Court Competition), με ακαδημαϊκό υπεύθυνο τον κ. Ιωσήφ Κτενίδη.

Β. Lawyers at Work (L@W), σε συνεργασία με το ADRPoint Το πρώτο Lawyers at Work (L@W) της ακαδημαϊκής χρονιάς πραγματοποιήθηκε διαδικτυακά, στις 16/11, ημέρα Δευτέρα. Οι συμμετέχοντες μπόρεσαν να γνωρίσουν το επάγγελμα του διαμεσολαβητή και του διαπραγματευτή από την πρακτική του σκοπιά, καθώς και την καθημερινότητά του, τις προοπτικές του, αλλά και τα προσόντα που απαιτείται να έχει κάποιος ασκώντας το συγκεκριμένο επάγγελμα.

Γ. Pre-ELSA Day Event Με αφορμή τον εορτασμό της ELSA Day, της ημέρας αφιερωμένης στα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα, η ELSA Thessaloniki διοργανώνεσαι pre - ELSA Day Event, με θέμα τα διάφορα ζητήματα ηθικής που κρύβονται πίσω από την τεχνητή νοημοσύνη. Η ανοιχτή συζήτηση διεξήχθη σε συνεργασία με τον κ. Γιώργο Πετκάκη, μεταπτυχιακό φοιτητή Γνωστικής Επιστήμης και Τεχνολογίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Κοπεγχάγης, την Παρασκευή 20 Νοεμβρίου διαδικτυακά, μέσω της πλατφόρμας ZOOM.

Δ. ELSA Day Στα πλαίσια του εορτασμού της ELSA Day, της ημέρας αφιερωμένης στα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα, η ELSA Thessaloniki διοργάνωσε ηλεκτρονική, δημόσια διαβούλευση, γύρω από 8 επίκαιρες θεματικές, πάνω στο θέμα ''Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη και Ανθρώπινα Δικαιώματα'', η οποία έλαβε χώρα την Τετάρτη 25 Νοεμβρίου.

Ε. Legal Course, με θέμα «Ειδικές Ρυθμίσεις για τη Δίωξη της Οικονομικής Εγκληματικότητας και των Εγκλημάτων Διαφθοράς». Tην Τετάρτη 23 Δεκεμβρίου πραγματοποιήθηκε διαδικτυακά το πρώτο νομικό μάθημα σεμιναριακού χαρακτήρα (Legal Course) για το ακαδημαϊκό έτος, με θέμα «Ειδικές Ρυθμίσεις για τη Δίωξη της Οικονομικής Εγκληματικότητας και των Εγκλημάτων Διαφθοράς», από τον Δικηγόρο Ποινικών Υποθέσεων, Νίκο Χατζηνικολάου. Στόχος του παρόντος μαθήματος ήταν η σύνδεση της θεωρητικής γνώσης με την πρακτική, μέσω της εμπέδωσης των χαρακτηριστικών και των ιδιαιτεροτήτων του οικονομικού εγκλήματος και του θεσμού του οικονομικού εισαγγελέα, όπως προέκυψαν μετά από τις πρόσφατες μεταρρυθμίσεις του Ποινικού Κωδικα.

Ζ. Ενημερωτική Εκδήλωση για τον 7ο Εθνικό Διαγωνισμό Εικονικής Δίκης (Ε.Δ.Ε.Δ.) της ELSA Greece Στην ενημερωτική εκδήλωση, οι συμμετέχοντες είχαν την ευκαιρία να μάθουν περισσότερες πληροφορίες για τον 7ο Εθνικό Διαγωνισμό Εικονικής Δίκης (Ε.Δ.Ε.Δ.) της ELSA Greece. Πραγματοποιήθηκε το Σάββατο 12 Δεκεμβρίου, μέσω της πλατφόρμας Zoom.

Σεμινάρια και Συνέδρια

Α. Διήμερο Συνέδριο Εργατικού Δικαίου Η ELSA Thessaloniki και η Ένωση Ασκουμένων και Νέων Δικηγόρων Θεσσαλονίκης διεξήγαγαν το πρώτο συνέδριο για την νέα ακαδημαϊκή χρονιά, με τίτλο «Ατομικές και Συλλογικές Εργασιακές Σχέσεις: Εθνικές και Ευρωπαϊκές Προκλήσεις». Το συνέδριο χωρίστηκε σε δύο ημέρες, ξεκινώντας την Παρασκευή 30 και τελειώνοντας το Σάββατο 31 Οκτωβρίου.

Β. Careers 2Day Στο πλαίσιο της βούλησής μας για δράσεις που αποτελούν χρήσιμο εργαλείο για τους φοιτητές, διοργανώσαμε για τρίτη συνεχόμενη χρονιά, ηλεκτρονικό διήμερο καριέρας, με το όνομα «Careers 2Day», την Παρασκευή 13 και Σάββατο 14 Νοεμβρίου. Επρόκειτο για μια δράση που αφορά την ανάπτυξη και εξέλιξη των προσωπικών και επαγγελματικών δεξιοτήτων των φοιτητών (προπτυχιακών και μεταπτυχιακών φοιτητών κάθε σχολής, το ευρύτερο κοινό των φοιτητών της Θεσσαλονίκης και όχι μόνο), καθώς και τις προοπτικές του νομικού και όχι μόνο επαγγέλματος στο εσωτερικό και την Ευρώπη.

Γ. Ενημερωτική Εκδήλωση “Get to Know ELSA Delegations” Η ενημερωτική εκδήλωση για τα ELSA Delegations πραγματοποιήθηκε το Σάββατο 19 Δεκεμβρίου, μέσω της πλατφόρμας Zoom. Οι συμμετέχοντες είχαν την ευκαιρία να μάθουν τι ακριβώς είναι τα ELSA Delegations, ποιες ευκαιρίες παρέχουν για προσωπική και επαγγελματική εξέλιξη και να πληροφορηθούν για τη φετινή, online διεξαγωγή τους, μέσω της αλληλεπίδρασης με παλιούς συμμετέχοντες, αλλά και άτομα τόσο του εθνικού, όσο και του διεθνούς δικτύου της ELSA.

Πρόγραμμα Ανταλλαγής Ασκουμένων & Νέων Φοιτητών (STEP)

Α. Συγκρότηση ομάδας Hosting Group Έπειτα από προσεκτική εξέταση των σχετικών αιτήσεων, ανακοινώσαμε τα 8 άτομα που στελεχώνουν το φετινό STEP Hosting Group.

Β. Ενημερωτική “STEP Day” Tην Κυριακή 6/12 μέσω της πλατφόρμας Zoom διεξήχθη η πρώτη ενημερωτική εκδήλωση για το Πρόγραμμα Ανταλλαγής Ασκούμενων Φοιτητών STEP, για την φετινή ακαδημαϊκή χρονιά. Οι συμμετέχοντες μπόρεσαν να μάθουν τι ακριβώς είναι το Πρόγραμμα STEP, ποιες ευκαιρίες παρέχει για νομική πρακτική άσκηση τόσο στο εξωτερικό, όσο και διαδικτυακά, ενώ γνώρισαν και τη διαδικασία σωστής συμπλήρωσης των αιτήσεων.

Γ. Το φετινό STEP σε αριθμούς Κατά τον πρώτο κύκλο αιτήσεων του STEP, ανοίξαμε 12 θέσεις πρακτικής άσκησης, σε 8 παρόχους, ενώ παράλληλα οι αιτήσεις που έγιναν έφτασαν σχεδόν τις 100!

Expressis Verbis Law Journal

Α. Επιλογή Αρχισυντάκτη και Συντακτικής Επιτροπής Η συγκρότηση της ομάδας που θα στελεχώσει τη διαδικασία έκδοσης του πέμπτου τεύχους ξεκίνησε με το κάλεσμα για την πλήρωση της θέσης του Αρχισυντάκτη. Μετά την επιλογή του, προχωρήσαμε στο άνοιγμα καλέσματος για τα μέλη της Συντακτικής Επιτροπής, τα οποία καλούνται μεταξύ άλλων, να προτείνουν τις ενδεικτικές θεματικές ενότητες, να αναλάβουν την αξιολόγηση τόσο των νομικών άρθρων, όσο και των σχολιασμένων δικαστικών αποφάσεων και να συμβάλλουν στην λήψη συνεντεύξεων από άτομα υψηλού νομικού και ακαδημαϊκού κύρους.

Β. Ενημερωτική Εκδήλωση για το Expressis Verbis Law Journal Tην Παρασκευή 23 Οκτωβρίου και μέσω της ηλεκτρονικής πλατφόρμας ZOOM πραγματοποιήθηκε ενημερωτική εκδήλωση αναφορικά με το περιοδικό μας. Στην εκδήλωση οι συμμετέχοντες είχαν την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουν τους ανθρώπους που κρύβονται πίσω από το εγχείρημα του περιοδικού, ενώ συνάμα τους δόθηκε η δυνατότητα να επιλύσουν τυχόν απορίες ως προς το κάλεσμα για τους αρθρογράφους.

Γ. Το πρώτο τεύχος του Expressis Verbis Law Journal σε αριθμούς Η οικογένεια του Expressis Verbis Law Journal και συγκεκριμένα των αρθρογράφων συμπληρώθηκε, ξεπερνώντας κάθε προηγούμενο, φτάνοντας τον αριθμό των 96 αιτήσεων. Παράλληλα, στο δύσκολο έργο της συγγραφής είχαμε την πολύτιμη βοήθεια και καθοδήγηση καταξιωμένων ακαδημαϊκών της σχολής μας, πράγμα που τίμησε τον θεσμό του Expressis Verbis Law Journal περισσότερο από ποτέ.

Σημαντικές Στιγμές & Νέες Πρωτοβουλίες

Α. Επιλογή μελών του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου στην ομάδα της ELSA International Τον Οκτώβριο είχαμε τη μεγάλη χαρά να ανακοινώσουμε ότι δύο μέλη του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της ELSA Thessaloniki και συγκεκριμένα, η Ζωή Παπακυρίτση (Αντιπρόεδρος Ακαδημαϊκών Δραστηριοτήτων ELSA Thessaloniki) και ο Παύλος Βαενάς (Αντιπρόεδρος Σεμιναρίων και Συνεδρίων ELSA Thessaloniki) επελέχθησαν μετά από διαδικασία αιτήσεων και συνεντεύξεων να στελεχώσουν την ELSA International Team, για την ακαδημαϊκή χρονιά 2020/2021, στις θέσεις του Assistant for Human Rights και Assistant for ELSA Delegations, αντίστοιχα.

Β. Διεξαγωγή Έκτακτης Γενικής Συνέλευσης Την Κυριακή 22 Νοεμβρίου, πραγματοποιήθηκε η Έκτακτη Γενική Συνέλευση μας ηλεκτρονικά. Με τον Βασίλη Βούρα, πρώην Πρόεδρο της ELSA Greece και τον Γρηγόρη Καραδαΐδη, πρώην Ταμία της ELSA Greece στο προεδρείο, τα μέλη του σωματείου είχαν την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουν κάποιους από τους βασικούς συνεργάτες του, να εκλέξουν τον Γιώργο Ζαχαριάδη ως Γενικό Γραμματέα και τον Παύλο Βαενά ως Αντιπρόεδρο Σεμιναρίων και Συνεδρίων για τη θητεία 20/21,

καθώς και να αναγορεύσουν τον Διομήδη Αφεντούλη, πρώην Πρόεδρο της ELSA International και τον Σωτήρη Βεργίδη, πρώην Ταμία της ELSA International, ως επίτιμα μέλη της ELSA Thessaloniki.

Γ. Πραγματοποίηση του πρώτου General Transition Την Παρασκευή 28 Αυγούστου πραγματοποιήθηκε το πρώτο General Transition, μεταξύ του παλαιού και του νέου Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της ELSA Thessaloniki. Τα μέλη του νέου Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου, τηρώντας όλα τα μέτρα και τις οδηγίες προφύλαξης, είχαν την ευκαιρία να κατανοήσουν σημαντικά και επίκαιρα ζητήματα που αφορούν το σωματείο, όπως επίσης και να συζητήσουν με σημαντικούς παράγοντες της πορείας του, μεταξύ των οποίων ήταν ο Ηλίας Γκίνδης (πρώτος Πρόεδρος της ELSA Thessaloniki), ο Γιώργος Παπαγεωργίου (Πρόεδρος της ELSA Greece για την ακαδημαϊκή χρονιά 2017-2018), η Αντωνία Μαρκοβίτη (Αντιπρόεδρος Ακαδημαϊκών Δραστηριοτήτων της ELSA International για την ακαδημαϊκή χρονιά 2015-2016) και ο Διομήδης Αφεντούλης (Πρόεδρος της ELSA International για την ακαδημαϊκή χρονιά 2019-2020).

Δ. Άνοιγμα δύο καλεσμάτων για Ειδικούς Συνεργάτες

Η ELSA Thessaloniki για πρώτη χρονιά ανακοίνωσε το άνοιγμα δύο καλεσμάτων για Ειδικούς Συνεργάτες. Ήταν μια μεγάλη ευκαιρία να δούμε την οικογένεια του σωματείου μας να μεγαλώνει και τους ειδικούς συνεργάτες μας να εξελίσσονται, μέσω της διαδικασίας σύναψης των εξωτερικών σχέσεων του οργανισμού, την επίλυση βασικών ζητημάτων εσωτερικής διαχείρισης, την ανεύρεση χορηγιών για τη χρηματοδότηση των projects του σωματείου και την προώθηση αυτών, τη συμμετοχή στη διοργάνωση ακαδημαϊκών δραστηριοτήτων και συνεδρίων και την επαφή με φοιτητές και παρόχους εργασίας, τόσο από την Ελλάδα, όσο και από το εξωτερικό!

Ε. Έναρξη Λειτουργίας Ηλεκτρονικού Γραφείου Λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τις τρέχουσες συνθήκες της πανδημίας, καθώς και την σημασία του γραφείου της ELSA Thessaloniki στη Νομική Σχολή για την λειτουργία του οργανισμού μας, ανακοινώσαμε πως το γραφείο μας θα λειτουργεί φέτος για πρώτη φορά διαδικτυακά, κάθε Δευτέρα και Τετάρτη από τις 12:00 έως τις 13:30. Εκεί, τα μέλη μας έχουν την ευκαιρία να λύσουν οποιαδήποτε απορία τους, καθώς και να ενημερωθούν για όλες τις δράσεις του σωματείου μας. Το γραφείο πραγματοποιείται μέσω μιας ανοιχτής συνεδρίας στο Google Meet.

ΣΤ. Έναρξη συνεργασίας με το Mentor Language School, Τον Νοέμβριο ανακοινώσαμε την έναρξη της συνεργασίας μας με το φροντιστήριο Mentor Language School, όπου τα μέλη της ELSA Thessaloniki θα έχουν έκπτωση στην παρακολούθηση και απόκτηση κάποιων από τις αναγραφόμενες, προσφερόμενες πιστοποιήσεις.

Ζ. Δημιουργία και Σχεδιασμός Activities Leaflet Τον Νοέμβριο, ανακοινώσαμε τον σχεδιασμό και τη δημιουργία του πρώτου Activities Leaflet στα πλαίσια του σωματείου μας. Το σχετικό φυλλάδιο στον κάτωθι σύνδεσμο, παρουσιάζει με ευσύνοπτο τρόπο τις ποικίλες δράσεις και projects που προσφέρονται αρχικά στο τοπικό και εν συνεχεία στο εθνικό επίπεδο, κατατάσσοντάς τις ανά βαθμό δυσκολίας και απαιτητικότητας: https://bit.ly/35tzMyY Στόχος μας να βοηθήσει και να κατατοπίσει όλους όσους ενδιαφέρονται να συμμετάσχουν στις μελλοντικές δράσεις του σωματείου μας, δίνοντας το έναυσμα για περισσότερη αναζήτηση και έρευνα πάνω στο εκάστοτε project!

Η. Πρωτοβουλία #TakeAStand - An Awareness-Raising Initiative. Μέσα Δεκέμβρη, είχαμε τη μεγάλη χαρά να ανακοινώσουμε τη νέα πρωτοβουλία του σωματείου μας, με όνομα «#TakeAStand - An Awareness-Raising Initiative».Η #TakeAStand, όντας στα πλαίσια της Advocacy Campaign της ELSA Greece, πρόκειται για μια προσπάθεια ευαισθητοποίησης των μελών μας πάνω σε αξίες, δικαιώματα και λοιπά ζητήματα, τα οποία απασχολούν τόσο εμάς, όσο και τον κόσμο γύρω μας, σε καθημερινή βάση, μέσα από virtual συνεντεύξεις, podcasts, panels και πολλές άλλες δράσεις.

Participation in National and International Meetings

A. International Area Meetings From the first days of our term as the ELSA Thessaloniki 20/21 Board, we had the great pleasure to participate in the latest International Area Meetings of ELSA International, specifically in the X Online Supporting Area Meeting of ELSA (SAM), the X Online Key Area Meeting of ELSA (KAM) and LXI Online International Presidents' Meeting (IPM), in which we had the opportunity to attend interesting workshops and interact with members of the Network.

B. 78th Online International Council Meeting of ELSA (ICM) Between November 8th and 15th, we attended the 78th ICM of ELSA International, which due to the global health crisis, once again took place online, giving us another opportunity to discuss and exchange views with other local and national groups of the Network.

C. 48th National Council Meeting of ELSA Greece (NCM) Between the 27th and 31st of November, together with the Team of Directors of ELSA Thessaloniki, we participated in the 48th NCM of ELSA Greece, which was conducted online. These days we were given the opportunity to get in touch with the other members of our National Network, exchanging good practices, fresh ideas and interesting views.

Academic Activities

A. Informative event on Moot Court Competitions The Informative Event on Moot Court Competitions took place online on Friday, the 2nd of October. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the two ELSA Moot Court Competitions, the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO Law, which is under the Academic Supervision of Mr. Panagiotis Gklavinis and the European Human Rights Moot Court Competition, that is under the Academic Supervision of Mr. Iosif Ktenidis.

B. Lawyers at Work (L@W), in collaboration with ADRPoint The first Lawyers at Work (L@W) of the academic year took place online, on Monday, the 16th of November. The participants were able to get to know the profession of the mediator and negotiator from its practical point of view, as well as its daily life, its prospects, but also the qualifications that one is required to have while practicing in that field.

C. Pre-ELSA Day Event Honoring the celebration of ELSA Day, the day dedicated to human rights, ELSA Thessaloniki organized a pre - ELSA Day Event, focusing on the theme of the various ethical issues hidden behind artificial intelligence. The open discussion was conducted in collaboration with Mr. George Petkakis, postgraduate student of Cognitive Science and Technology at the University of Copenhagen, on Friday, November 20th, online, through the ZOOM platform.

D. ELSA Day As part of the celebration of ELSA Day, the day dedicated to human rights, ELSA Thessaloniki organized an online, round table discussion, around 8 current topics that concern the issue of "Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights". The event took place on Wednesday, the 25th of November.

E. Legal Course, on "Special Arrangements for the Prosecution of Economic Crime and Corruption Crimes". On Wednesday, December 23rd, the first Legal Course of this academic year took place, on "Specific Regulations on the Prosecution of Financial Criminality and Corruption Crimes". It was held online, by the criminal lawyer, Nikos Chatzinikolaou. The aim of this course was to connect theoretical knowledge with practice, through the consolidation of the characteristics and peculiarities of financial crimes and the institution of the financial prosecutor, as it emerged after the recent reforms of the Greek Penal Code.

F. Informative Event on the 7th National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) of ELSA Greece In this informative event, the participants had the opportunity to learn more information about the 7th National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) of ELSA Greece. It took place on Saturday, December 12th, through the Zoom platform.

Seminars and Conferences

A. Conference on Labor Law ELSA Thessaloniki and EANDITH held the first conference of the academic year, on "Individual and Collective Labor Relations: National and European Challenges". The conference was divided into two days, starting on Friday the 30th and ending on Saturday, the 31st of October.

B. Careers 2Day As part of our goal to launch projects that make for a useful tool to law students, we organized, for the third consecutive year, an online, two-day career-centered event, called "Careers 2Day", on Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th of November. It was an event on the development and evolution of the personal and professional skills of university students (undergraduate and postgraduate students of each faculty, university students of Thessaloniki and more), as well as the prospects of the legal and not only, profession in Greece and in Europe.

C. Informative Event on ELSA Delegations - “Get to Know ELSA Delegations” The Informative Event on ELSA Delegations took place on Saturday, December 19th, through the Zoom platform. Participants had the opportunity to learn what exactly ELSA Delegations are, what opportunities they provide for personal and professional development, through the interaction with old participants, but also individuals of both the National and International ELSA Network.

Student Trainee Exchange Program (STEP)

A. Formation of our local Hosting Group After careful consideration of all the applications, we announced the 8 members of this year's STEP Hosting Group.

B. Informative Event on STEP - “STEP Day” On Sunday, the 6th of December, we held the first informative event on the STEP Program, for this academic year, through the Zoom platform. Participants were able to learn exactly what the STEP Program is, what opportunities it provides for internships both abroad and online, as well as the process of properly completing applications.

C. This year's STEP in numbers During the first cycle of STEP applications, we opened 12 internships in cooperation with 8 job providers, while at the same time the applications reached almost the number of 100!

Expressis Verbis Law Journal

A. Picking the Editor-in-Chief and the Team of Editors The formation of the team that will help in the process of publishing the fifth issue of Expressis Verbis Law Journal began, with the open call for the position of Editor-in-Chief. Following his selection, we opened a call for the members of the team of Editors, who get, among other things, to propose the indicative thematics, to evaluate both legal articles and court decisions and to contribute to future interviews, taken by persons of high legal and academic prestige.

B. Informative Event on Expressis Verbis Law Journal On Friday, October 23rd, through the Zoom platform, an informative event took place, regarding our law journal. At the event, participants had the opportunity to meet the people behind the journal, while also being given the opportunity to answer any questions, regarding the future open call for columnists.

C. The fifth issue of Expressis Verbis Law Journal in numbers The family of Expressis Verbis Law Journal and specifically the one of the columnists was completed, surpassing all previous ones, and reaching the number of 96 applications. At the same time, during the difficult task of writing, we had the valuable help and guidance of renowned academics of our law school, who honored the institution of Expressis Verbis Law Journal more than ever before.

Highlight Moments & New Initiatives A. First General Transition On Friday, August 28th, the first General Transition took place between the old and the new Board of ELSA Thessaloniki. The members of the new Board, after taking all the precautionary measures and instructions, had the opportunity to understand important and current issues concerning the association, as well as to discuss with important people of its history, among whom was Ilias Gindis (First President of ELSA Thessaloniki), Giorgos Papageorgiou (President of ELSA Greece for the academic year 2017-2018), Antonia Markoviti (Vice President of Academic Activities of ELSA International for the academic year 20152016) and Diomidis Afentoulis (President of ELSA International for the academic year 2019-2020).

B. Opening two Calls for Directors For the first time, ELSA Thessaloniki announced the opening of two calls for Directors. It was a great opportunity to see our ELSA Thessaloniki family grow and our directors evolve, through the process of conducting the local group's external relations, resolving key internal management issues, finding sponsorships to fund the local group's projects and promoting them, participating in the organization of academic activities

and conferences and contacting students and work providers, both from Greece and abroad!

C. Opening an Online Office Taking into account the current conditions of the pandemic, as well as the importance of the ELSA Thessaloniki office at the Law School for the operation of our local group, we announced that our office will be open online for the first time this year, every Monday and Wednesday from 12:00 to at 1:30 p.m. There, our members have the opportunity to answer any of their questions, as well as to be informed about all the activities of our local group. The office is held through an open session in Google Meet.

D. Starting our collaboration with the Mentor Language School In November, we announced the beginning of our collaboration with the Mentor Language School, where ELSA Thessaloniki members have a discount on attending and obtaining some of the listed, offered certifications.

E. Creation and Design of an Activities Leaflet In November, we announced the design and creation of the first Activities Leaflet of our local group. The leaflet, which you can find in the following link, presents in a concise way the various projects that are offered at the local and at the national level, classifying them by degree of difficulty and demand: https://bit.ly/35tzMyY. Our goal is to help and inform all those who are interested in participating in the future projects of our local group, giving them the chance for more research on each project!

F. #TakeAStand - An Awareness-Raising Initiative.

In December, we had the great pleasure to announce the new initiative of our local group, called "#TakeAStand - An Awareness-Raising Initiative". #TakeAStand, being part of the Advocacy Campaign of ELSA Greece, is an effort to raise awareness on values, rights and other issues, which concern both us and the world around us, on a daily basis, through virtual interviews, podcasts, panels and many other actions.

A. Two members of our Board were picked in the ELSA International Team In October, we had the great pleasure to announce that two members of our Local Board, and more precisely, Zoi Papakyritsi (Vice President of Academic Activities ELSA Thessaloniki) and Pavlos Vaenas (Vice President of Seminars and Conferences ELSA Thessaloniki) were selected to be part of the ELSA International Team, for the academic year of 2020/2021, in the positions of Assistant for Human Rights and Assistant for ELSA Delegations, respectively.

B. Extraordinary General Meeting On Sunday, November 22nd, our Extraordinary General Meeting was held online. With the help of Vasilis Vouras, former President of ELSA Greece and Grigoris Karadaidis, former Treasurer of ELSA Greece, the Association’s members had the opportunity to meet some of its main partners, while they also had the chance to elect Giorgos Zachariadis as the Secretary General and Pavlos Vaenas as the Vice President for Seminars & Conferences for the 20/21 term, as well as proclaim Diomidis Afentoulis, former President of ELSA International and Sotiris Vergidis, former Treasurer of ELSA International, as honorary members of ELSA Thessaloniki.
