ABOUT EMC2 The ELSA Moot Court Competition is a simulated hearing of the World Trade Organization dispute settlement system. Interested students from all over the world will send in written submissions for the complainant and respondent of a fictitious case written by a WTO professional. After the written preliminary round, the teams will have the opportunity to present their oral submissions both for the complainant and the respondent in front of a Panel which consists of WTO and trade law experts.
O EMC2 ELSA Moot Court Competition polega na przeprowadzeniu symulacji rozprawy według systemu rozstrzygania sporów Światowej Organizacji Handlu. W rolę pełnomocników wcielają się studenci uczelni z całego świata. Pracujący dla WTO prawnicy i pracownicy jej Centrum Rozwiązywania Sporów przygotowują fikcyjny kazus, a rolą drużyn startujących w EMC2 jest zredagowanie na jego podstawie pism procesowych dla skarżącego i pozwanego. Po wstępnym etapie pisemnym, na którym oceniane są pisma drużyn, zespoły mają możliwość zaprezentowania swoich wystąpień dla obu stron postępowania przed panelami sędziowskimi, które składają się z profesjonalistów zatrudnionych w WTO i ekspertów prawa handlowego oraz międzynarodowego.
RECRUITMENT TO THE JU'S TEAM We are pleased to announce the oďŹƒcial recruitment to the JU's team for this year's EMC2 competition. The recruitment consists of two stages: I. Written stage - submitting a CV (in English) together with a short essay concerning this year's case (see page 10) before the deadline on 11 October 2014, 10 p.m. CET at: emc2krakow@gmail.com. II. Oral stage - participation in a moot court (simulation of a panel hearing) based on the case (a circa 10-minutes presentation) which will be held in the afternoon on one of the days between 15 and 17 October 2014; the exact date and topic of the speech of each candidate will be provided on 12 October. (In case of a large number of candidates only selected persons will be qualified to the oral stage.)
REKRUTACJA DO DRUŻYNY UJ Mamy przyjemność ogłosić oficjalną rekrutację do drużyny UJ na tegoroczną edycję konkursu EMC2. Rekrutacja składa się z dwóch etapów: I. Część pisemna - przesłanie CV w języku angielskim oraz krótkiego pisemnego zadania dotyczącego tegorocznego kazusu (zobacz na stronie 10) w terminie do 11 października 2014 r., godz. 22.00 na adres: emc2krakow@gmail.com. II. Część ustna - udział w symulacji rozprawy na kanwie kazusu (ok. 10-minutowe wystąpienie), która odbędzie się w godzinach popołudniowych między 15 a 17 października 2014; dokładna data oraz temat wystąpienia każdego z kandydatów zostanie podany 12 października. (W razie zgłoszenia się dużej liczby chętnych, do części ustnej rekrutacji zostaną zakwalifikowane tylko wybrane osoby.)
REQUIREMENTS The candidates are required to have very good command of English, motivation and to be flexible concerning time at least throughout the winter semester of this academic year (from October 2014 to the end of February 2015). The following qualities of the candidates will be especially welcome: having passed public international law and/or international trade and investment law, having finished a foreign law programme (especially American or English law), being skilled in legal English. Foreign exchange students attending JU based on the ERASMUS programme or any equivalent are welcome to apply if their stay extends for the whole academic year 2014/2015 (at the very least until May 2015).

WYMAGANIA Od kandydatów wymagamy bardzo dobrej znajomości języka angielskiego, motywacji oraz dyspozycyjności czasowej przynajmniej w ciągu semestru zimowego tego roku akademickiego (od października 2014 do końca lutego 2015). Mile widziane/a jest: zaliczenie prawa międzynarodowego publicznego lub przedmiotu international trade and investment law, ukończenie szkoły prawa obcego (zwłaszcza amerykańskiego lub angielskiego), pobyt na wymianie zagranicznej (zwłaszcza z zaliczeniem przedmiotów w języku angielskim), znajomość prawniczego języka angielskiego. W konkursie mogą brać studenci zagraniczni obecni na UJ w ramach programu ERASMUS lub innego na cały rok akademicki 2014/2015 (a przynajmniej do maja 2015).

COACH OF TEAM Maciej Zych - trainee advocate, Ph.D. candidate at the JU's Chair of Private Commercial Law and lawyer with the dispute resolution practice of the Wardyński & Partners law firm. In the academic year 2013/2014 he served as the coach of JU's team for the 12th edition of EMC2, while in the period 2010 - 2012 he was a member of JU's team for the 18th and 19th editions of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court. Maciej is a graduate of the American Law Programme conducted by the Catholic University of America in collaboration with the Jagiellonian University and of the English & European law programme organized by the British Law Centre operating at the University of Warsaw.
TRENER DRUŻYNY Maciej Zych - aplikant adwokacki, doktorant w Katedrze Prawa Gospodarczego Prywatnego UJ oraz prawnik w zespole rozwiązywania sporów kancelarii Wardyński i Wspólnicy. W roku akademickim 2013/2014 pełnił funkcję trenera drużyny UJ na 12. edycji EMC2, a w latach 2010 2012 był członkiem reprezentacji UJ na 18. i 19. edycji Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court. Absolwent szkoły prawa amerykańskiego prowadzonej przez Catholic University of America przy Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim oraz szkoły prawa angielskiego i europejskiego prowadzonej przez the British Law Centre działające przy Uniwersytecie Warszawskim.
