Google Redirect Virus Removal - How to Get Rid of the Annoying Google Redirect Virus from Your PC By Greg Kahn

The Google Redirect Virus is basically a virus infection which will take your search engine links and then redirect them to a fake website. Typical variations of this infection will send your search engine links to the likes of results5.google.com and foridatraffic.com, to name just two of the malicious websites that it sends you to. You can normally tell if you have this virus, as it will not only redirect your search engine results 2 or 3 times before sending you to the correct link, but it will also open a series of new tabs which will also try and sell you some fake programs / software / products. Although many PC's are being infected with this virus every day, the fact is that it's actually extremely difficult to remove. This is because of how it works - unlike normal virus infections (which have a central application / file which will continually try and cause havoc on your PC), the redirect virus just installs a small infection onto your system, which will then change a few of the settings that Windows uses to control the redirections on the Internet. The virus will then disappear, leaving not trace of it ever being on your PC - making most antivirus programs ineffective at removing it. The way the Google Redirect Virus works is to change the "redirect" settings for your PC. This basically means that each time your computer wants to handle a redirection online, the settings it uses will be infected and make it direct your results to some fake website. Not many people know this, but each time you click a search engine link, it doesn't take you to the actual target website straight away - it will send you through a link on Google.com / Yahoo.com / Bing.com first. This is to track search metrics, but also means that the Google Redirect Virus will jump into this natural redirection and then send your traffic to false websites. To fix this virus, you need to be able to use a program that's going to target the settings this infection has changed, and fix them. Although most antivirus programs are not able to remove the Google Redirect Virus, the good news is that there is a little-known antivirus tool called "ComboFix" which works very well to get rid of the infection. ComboFix is a tool which basically cleans out the infected settings & files of Windows, and works in a very simple way - you tell it which files to look at, and it will be

able to repair them for you. By using this program, and a script that tells it the files it fix, you should be able to remove the virus for good.
