Google Redirect Virus Removal - Steps to Fix the Google Search Redirect Virus from Your PC for Good By Greg Kahn
The Google Redirect Virus is a powerful infection that's now quite common on Windows PCs. This virus is characterized by the way it "redirects" your search engine results to random websites, making it extremely difficult & annoying for you to find the information / websites you want from the search engines. Although many people have this virus, it's actually quite difficult to remove because of the way it acts differently than "normal" infections. Fortunately, there's a very easy way to remove this virus from your system. If you want to remove this virus from your computer, you need to be able to fix the various settings that it infects. The big problem for people with this virus is that they don't realize how it's infected their computer - and that popular antivirus programs are simply not able to deal with it. Unlike typical viruses, which have applications / files which constantly run in the "background" of your PC, the Google Redirect Virus just changes a few of your web browser's settings, making it extremely difficult to detect and remove from your computer. This virus works by "hijacking" the natural redirects that Google / Yahoo / Bing all use, by changing the settings your PC uses to redirect that traffic. To track user search metrics, each link you click on the search engines will actually send you to the Google.com / Yahoo.com / Bing.com website, and then onto your target site. The Google / Search Redirect Virus will target these links and will redirect them to fake advertising websites in order to try and get you to buy some false products. To fix this virus, you basically need to be able to first identify the files / settings that are infected, and then get a program which is able to repair the infected settings from your computer. The best way to fix this virus is to use a program called "ComboFix", which is a simple, but relatively unknown, anti-virus program which basically works by looking at the various files you tell it to, and then fixes them. You should use this program and then get it to repair the various files and settings which are causing the Google Redirects to take place, by using a special "script" which informs it of what to do. After you've used the ComboFix program, it's then recommended that you use a "registry cleaner" program to scan through your PC and repair any of the settings / options that are left
on your PC. Registry cleaners are highly recommended tools to help computers, as they are designed to scan through your system and fix any of the problems inside the "registry" database. This is a large database which Windows uses to store vital settings & information for your PC, but is also where a lot of viruses will remain on your system. To be sure you've removed the redirect virus completely from your PC, you should use a registry cleaner application to fix the errors it has inside.
