THE OHIO LATINO AWARDS The Ohio Latino Awards (OLA) represent the most popular distinction given by the Hispanic community of Ohio to the organizations and personalities that have contributed to the development of the Hispanic community in the United States. The awards are given every year in a public ceremony that features leaders of the Hispanic community, the honorees, and organizations related to the Hispanic community in Ohio and the United States. The OLA are sponsored by the newspaper El Sol de Ohio, the Hispanic press leader in the state, which consults with Ohio’s Hispanic community for the selection of the honorees. Readers make their selection on a ballot published in the newspaper.

This third edition of the Ohio Latino Awards showcases the triumphs of Latinos in Ohio. We celebrate today Latino leadership, of outstanding institutions and personalities in our community, service organizations, businesses, academics, people of religion, intellectuals, public officials, and others that have strived for a common goal: to serve Ohio’s Latino community with quality and success. And the reason for bestowing these awards - the fundamental objective - is to stimulate and promote that leadership for the benefit of the development of Ohio’s Latino community. We believe that these recognitions - these Ohio Latino Awards – contribute to incentivize and extend these good acts of service for the benefit of our community and to develop and promote our own leadership in this prosperous city. Ohio’s Latino community continues to grow, go forward, and be successful. And the Ohio Latino Awards will continue to be part of that success, with the leadership and support of each and every one of you. May God bless us and be with us always!
