It´s a privately owned protected area that belongs to and is operated by Puntacana Ecological Foundation. This reserve, consisting of lowlands subtropical forest, covers 1,500 acres of land dedicated to conservation, investigation and recreation. It is a forest reserve with 12 lagoons, of which three are apt for swimming and provides hábitat for an abundance of birds, reptiles, insects, and other local flora and fauna. Apart from this, they have an Ecological Park with interpretive trails that feature distinct attractions related to the natural and cultural history of the island, including an iguana hábitat, petting zoo, sugarcane exhibition and fruit tree garden.
