introduction

eluetheria

This for me is the first step at living a dream. For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamt of having a magazine to display my interpretation of art. This magazine will be dedicated to all things art. From sports, food, cars, sculpture, music, people etc, and I will do my best to cover as much of this genre as possible. My first and foremost goal is to have fun and shed light on new artist and showcase them working on perfecting their craft. All about me Kelcy Gatson, Jr. I was born and raised in the heart of the South, Atlanta, Georgia or the ‘dirty south’ as it is affectionately known in the rap world. I grew up watching my dad snap pictures with his 35mm Minolta and when I was 22 I bought my first 35mm Minolta. It was the first Minolta to have the sensor grip in the handle, so that meant, when you picked up the camera and placed your hand on the grip it would power itself on and you were ready to shoot. Oh I was so impressed and so mad because I inadvertently snapped many unwanted shots and back then film was cheap but processing it was not. I always felt like I had to buy all the photos that were printed even if it was a shot of my own crotch or a door handle. If you are lucky enough you may see some of those pictures from my first camera which I still have but never use. Maybe I will pull it out, search for 35mm film and start shooting again but this time I won’t buy the odd crotch shots! Here at Eluetheria we will work hard at creating a magazine that is engaging and thought provoking while presenting new artist to you.

Qoute of the month “You & you alone, determine what your world is like. You are the doorway thru which life unfolds” by Chris Prentiss. This qoute has been a great source of inspiration to me and I’m sure to a lot of others.

critical ear\music review by: kelcy gatson This line up of artist shows just how seriously Kendrick Lamar is being taken by the music community. Overall I am proud to give Kendrick Lamar 4 thumbs up!

Kendrick Lamar | To Pimp A Butterfly Okay I cannot lie about this. On my first listen I wasn’t impressed at all with this project by Kendrick Lamar. I always complain to my daughter that all the music now a days sounds the same. That was the first listen. Maybe I was too distracted or thinking about drubbing my hunger pangs. But on the second listen I must say that Kendrick certainly is not like the crop of rappers putting music out now. The tracks are unique and the lyrics are thought provoking. You can tell that he put thought into the lyrics and has a great ear for music. If I had to pick a favorite track that would be almost impossible. Every track has something different to offer and addresses subjects that are in sync with the times. The album quickly develops into a history of Kendrick Lamar and into politically charged anthem about the worth of the black community and other communities that suffer the similar fates. It reminds me of the messages that Public Enemy pumped into our conscience back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Really how bad could an album be with guest appearances by the likes of George Clinton, Bilal, Ronald Isley?

california’s coastline is one of the most breath taking sites to behold, from the mexican border south of san diego to san francisco was my playground. i’ve had the pleasure of cycling 600 miles of it during the aids lifecycle ride, which takes place annually late may thru the second week of june.
