AQUARIUM
The Royal Aquarium is located on the illustrious riverfront of the Copenhagen Bay. The surroundings of the site, including warehouses and historic shipyards, influenced the materials and industrial design we chose for the Aquarium. Our goal was to use Scandinavian design methods to connect the site to its urban environment. We accomplished this by designing a grid made of stacked cubic volumes encased within the structure resembling a shelf. Each tank fits within a 20’ x 20’ cube.

AIRSHIP HOTEL
The manned cloud is a boutique hotel that is located in a flying airship. It will target an audience of extreme sports athletes. These athletes will be able to participate in activities that are incorporated within the design of the manned cloud. It will be powered by lowcost renewable energy, which will reduce operating costs. The concept of environmental sustainable luxury is achieved by conserving resources by being a selfsustaining airship. This will be done by using a hybrid of plexiglas and solar panels to produce the main source of energy. All the energy that is put into the airship will recycle continuously.

GEOGRAPHIC TYPOLOGIES
5 0%
The theme and design of the airship were influenced by the geographic typologies of the island of Palawan in the Philippines. Palawan is made up of natural scenery such as beaches, lagoons, lakes, rivers, underground rivers, waterfalls and rock formations. This influences the activity on the island, as well as the activities offered in the airship. The natural scenery of the island will also influence the biophilic design of the space, including the materiality and light qualities.

PARTNER PROJECT

A memory care facility located on the 28th floor of a skyscraper in downtown Atlanta. Homeopathic practices are the ideal methodology of healing in the year 2065. The goal of the space was to bring people back in touch with their senses and memory. The holistic design approach allows residents to experience a controlled simulation of their surroundings.
Wall covered in fabric gives the space a softer, warmer look.
Soft fabrics create comfort and security in The space.
The linear movement of rocking back and forth reduces arousal and helps the user to relax.
Guitars offer a controlled stimulation. Music can also enhance memory.

FABRICATION
This fabrication project reflects the study of changing topographies of light. The designed system consists of 2’ x 6’ sanded plexiglas, which was warped by a propane torch. Each sheet was then connected onto a metal rod. When light from above hits the system, each panel reflects onto each other, creating wisps of light through a series of gradients.

METAL PERFORATION WIRE REFLECTIVITY
16
A prior study addressing specific properties of light. I designed a system by massing transparent wire to study reflection of light and color. By using a Waterjet cutter, I made voids into metal to create a space to tie and create tension of the massed wire. The metal also created a boundary for light to reflect on all three sides.

OpenIDEO is a company that steps outside the box when it comes to office design. Open offices and collaboration define the style of work. The office design facilitates reaching out to the community by not only being open for business hours but also serving as a public gallery space in the evenings and on weekends. Within this project, we have incorporated our explorations of light from the previous fabrication project. The way the light hits the system throughout the day will change each space due to the perforations of the metal and reflectivity.

RESIDENCE
This home was designed for a faculty member of our choice. After interviewing the client, we designed each space to cater to their styles and personality traits. The dynamic design lacks rules in a relaxed atmosphere, creating a peaceful quality. The project also challenged us to incorporate a previous project of a CNC milled contoured screening system to demonstrate light and shadow.
