As a collective our products work well together as we have Individually made a piece of accessory that is based around brand. Samira Awudu, 1st Year Fashion
Instagram is where I get my daily source of inspo, not only for what I wear but also inspires my designs. I always keep up to date with the latest trends through following fashion bloggers and designers. I also use instagram as a platform to showcase my own outfits that others can use as inspiration. I was inspired by the current denim trend in high street stores when designing my up-cycled denim jacket I decided to add sheer inserts into the sleeves as an interpretation of the Perspex trend and distressed the hem where I cropped the jacket to follow the latest trends. I created this clutch with the idea of utility in mind and how effortlessly you can use it. You will never spot a fashion influencer without a handbag or a clutch. It was also influenced by a lunch bag, where in this fast paced environment everyone is on the go. So this is a go to bag when your running late and in a rush. I would use this clutch with all my go to essentials without making it look much. The materials I used for it is a plastic drawer liner and the lined tape. Amanda Pinheiro fashion 1st year
TOO GLAM TO GIVE A DAMN
Instagram influences my active life on a day to day basis. I use instagram as inspiration for my daily workouts and active lifestyle. Instagram also influences my personal style and the clothes I choose to buy, it also allows me to stay connected with friends. The piece I created was inspired by my personal instagram and the type of people I follow. Being sport related, I adapted a sports jacket with paint stencilled photos on Instagram. For the words I used Instagram logo based colours for the paint and white paint for the hashtag and @ symbol. Without the hashtag the words don’t link to instagram, so they are the main element of the piece. White is the main colour in the logo which is why I choose it for the main colour in my piece. It also makes the words stand out as being instagram related. The logo for our tribe is based around yellow and black, so I spray painted the jacket with yellow glitter spray to link the piece to the tribe logo.
I started Instagram back in my year 10 science class when all I used to do was take photos of grass and throw on a filter. However now I have my own style of taking photos. It really helps me see the world in different angles. It’s not only a space for people to display their outfits or newest hair colour, but also a very large platform to send out important messages. For me personally, I refer to Instagram for styling. To communicate to people from all different parts of the world. To help sell my products. My sunglasses were designed to be made as over sized and dramatic to represents how ‘OTT’ and emphasised life is depicted via the app. Mariam Alam, 3rd Year Fashion

Instagram influences me in almost every aspect of my life as well as other social media platforms such as Snapchat and twitter , my own personal styles and interests have been moulded and changed by the endless accounts I follow from famous celebrities, You-tubers and bloggers to DIY accounts as there styles and overall way of life inspires me to change my own to almost be identical to there’s. My piece is highly influenced by the process it takes to upload a image or video on instagram , the multiple faces scattered on my earrings represent the large amount of photos taken before uploading just one , the different colours and plastic wrapped over the earrings represent instagram filters which are used to conceal and contour our photos in the same way makeup would. Overall I tried to highlight on the fact that instagram forces us to strive for perfection which is most definitely impossible to achieve. Jayah Douse, 2nd Year Fashion
Instagram is made to fulfill the dream of any teenager who wants to go into a certain field,to promote himself,to become free and also to have the ability to influence the others. How does Instagram influence me? It's simple. It made me discover new things, new places, but more important to discover me,my qualities and what I'm capable of doing. In few words: it made me discover my artistic quality. The first thing that was in my mind when I heard about this project was a jacket that I have, my mother's jacket. She used to wear it when she was at my age, it s a pretty old jacket of denim. I wanted to turn it into something portable and in something that could be infiltrate in the theme "Instagram Glam". I wanted to bring it from old times into our modern times but still have the same charm. Fluturel Ioana-Alexandra, 1st Year Fashion
NO ONE IS YOU AND THAT IS YOUR POWER
Instagram as a platform allows individuals to express their own styles and showcase ideas which are unique and up to date. It’s a source of inspiration which allows you to discover your personal style through the people you follow on Instagram such as stylists, bloggers, artists. When creating this jacket, I wanted to display my personal style. DIY accounts gave me an idea of upcycling materials and creating something that would look “Instagram worthy” through photoshoots and editing as I believe that not everything is like what you see through social media.
