ISSUE 3 2023
Extension cords are usually utilized to power various devices and appliances around your home; however, improper usage can pose a significant fire hazard that threatens the safety of you and your loved ones.
Some sources suggest that extension cord misuse can cause roughly 3300 home fires per year. Considering this, it is essential to remember key tips to protect your space.
Do Not:
• Attempt to plug extension cords into one another.
• Overload extension cords
• Substitute extension cords for permanent wiring
• Nail or staple the cords
• Use cords with heaters or fans
• Run extensions through walls, doorways, ceilings or floors
• Cover the extenstion cords since the heat would be unable to escape.
We request all residents to keep regulations set in place to keep you shielded from harm.
As we strive to maintain an accommodating environment for all, we would like to remind our residents of the ‘no pet’ policy at the community.
Although pets offer companionship, and we understand the profoun d bond between humans and animals, we ask that you follow standard policies as stated in the Residents' Handbook and avoid bringing or keeping any animals within the Burj Khalifa Residences.
We appreciate your cooperation in creating an inclusive atmosphere where all can enjoy their living spaces without discomfort that can arise from pet-related incidents such as allergies, noise disturbances, or damage to common areas.
We recently caught up with long-time Burj Khalifa resident, The Salem Family to gather insight and learn about living in the community on a personal level.
How long have you lived in Dubai?
We have been in Dubai, at the Burj specifically for almost 11 years. Our daughters, Haya (10) and Lulua (8) know no other residence than the Burj Khalifa.
When we asked Haya and Lulua about their sentiments, they had this to say
What inspired your parents to choose Burj Khalifa as a home?
It's location in the heart of the city and it's proximity to DIFC (where my parents work), as well as easy accessibility to the mall made this a perfect choice for them.
What hobbies or interests do you partake in as a family?
We love swimming and splashing around at the pool as well as getting competitive with a good game of basketball.
What do you like most about living at the Burj Khalifa?
The warm staff, the cleanliness and overall safety make this an amazing choice of residence. Plus, we have the best view of the whole city, right from our apartment.
Do you have any interesting experiences to share that helped validate your parent's decision to reside here?
Every kid at our class loved coming over to our apartment for play dates! And our birthday parties at the Burj have always been exciting events for all our friends and family.
As young members of the Burj Khalifa community, what activities do you like to take part in everyday?
We love playing basketball and going for a swim, especially to cool down in the hot summer months. We also love walking to the Dubai Mall via the beautiful conncecting tunnel.
What do you dream or aspire to become when you grow up?
Haya: I dream about becoming a sucessful female basketball player Lulua: I would love to become a swim champion one day.
In light of holding community wellbeing in the highest regard, we're excited to share the upcoming schedule of essential services that have been carefully planned for your convenience.

Your home is filled with belongings that hold sentimental and financial value that deserve to be protected.
We encourage all residents to consider obtaining a contents insurance which safeguards your belongings against unforseen events and incidents such as floods, vandalism, theft, fire and storm damage.
Some items covered by contents insurance include: Personal belongings such as electronic appliances, furniture, curtains, art, lamps, fixtures, wallpaper and jewelry
Some items covered by community insurance include: Common areas such as roads, amenities, signage, street lights, walls, irrigation system and gate barriers
I'm a tenant. Isn't community insurance the responsibility of my landlord?
Yes - but landlords and Emaar Community Management are only responsible for insuring the structure and common areas. Insuring belongings is the responsibility of the tenant.
My things were damaged as a result of structural damage to the walls. Whose responsibility is it?
Even if structural damage affected your belongings, only the cost of repairing the property will be covered by the community's insurance, which excludes personal contents of the home.
Rain water entered my home and damaged my appliances. Is this the community's responsibility?
Community insurance will cover any water damage to the roads, sidewalks, sports courts and any other common areas affected. Items inside the home are not covered - that's where a contents insurance plan comes in.
