This event will focus on the role of public policy and the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Mr. Lenin Moreno, Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador, will share the Ecuadorian experience with an emphasis on the Manuela Espejo program, an in-depth study conducted by the government to better identify the needs and provide support for the rights of persons with disabilities within Ecuador. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Derrick L. Cogburn, Associate Professor of International Relations in the School of International Service at American University and Executive Director of the Institute on Disability and Public Policy. This panel will also include representatives from the U.S. Government and civil society leaders. The session will conclude with a short Q&A session from the audience. This event is open to the public. Virtual participation will be available through Blackboard Collaborate (webconferencing).
