Η Αληθινή Φιλία
Εχθές με επισκέφθηκε ο Πρόεδρος της Μπολιβαριανής Δημοκρατίας της Βενεζουέλας, ο οποίος πραγματοποίησε ταξίδι στο εξωτερικό σχετικό με την υπεράσπιση σημαντικών πετρελαϊκών συμφερόντων της χώρας του. Στο πέρασμά του από την Κούβα εκμεταλλεύτηκε το γεγονός για να έρθει σε επαφή μαζί μου και να με χαιρετήσει προσωπικά όπως είχε υποσχεθεί στις 13 Αυγούστου του τρέχοντος έτους, έχοντας το προνόμιο να κλείσω τα 88 χρόνια. Εκείνη την ημέρα μου χάρισε κάποια φρούτα, ανάμεσά τους, κάποια πολύ μικρά σας πέρλες, που δεν είχα ξαναδεί στη ζωή μου κι έχουν εξαιρετική γεύση. Επίσης μου χάρισε μία αθλητική φόρμα, δώρο των Βενεζουελάνων αθλητών που αναζητούν δάφνες για την χώρα τους. Μου έδωσε ιδιαίτερη χαρά που εκπλήρωσε τόσο σύντομα την επίσκεψή του, όχι μόνο για την τιμή της παρουσίας του και της ταχείας δράσης που απαιτεί το δύσκολο έργο να συνεχίσει τον επικό αγώνα του Ούγκο Τσάβες, αλλά επίσης, και για τις εξαιρετικές ενέργειες που διεξάγει. 1
Ο κόσμος μας βιώνει μία εξαιρετική και μοναδική στιγμή. Κάθε μέρα αυξάνεται ο αριθμός των ανθρώπων που το αναγνωρίζουν αυτό. Μεταξύ πολλών γεγονότων, ένα από τα πιο δραματικά είναι η γενοκτονία που διεξάγεται στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας, όπου 1,8 εκατομμύρια άνθρωποι ζουν εγκλωβισμένοι μεταξύ της ερήμου, της θάλασσας και της στρατιωτικής δύναμης μίας χώρας της Μέσης Ανατολής, όπου η ισχυρότερη αυτοκρατορία που έχει ποτέ υπάρξει, έχει δημιουργήσει, μέσα σε μισό αιώνα, και με κόστος, σύμφωνα με ορισμένες εκτιμήσεις, που πλησιάζει τα εκατό δισεκατομμύρια δολάρια, μία εξελιγμένη και στρατιωτική πυρηνική δύναμη. Πολλοί άνθρωποι αναρωτιούνται: Ποιος κυβερνάει ποιον; Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες το Ισραήλ ή το Ισραήλ τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες; Τα γεγονότα είναι ορατά. Προγραμματισμένοι πύραυλοι, γρήγορα και ακριβή βομβαρδιστικά, πυροβολικό και σύγχρονα τεθωρακισμένα, επιτίθενται σε κτίρια γεμάτα με ανθρώπους, καθώς και νοσοκομεία, σχολεία και υπηρεσίες, σκοτώνοντας παιδιά, νέους, ηλικιωμένους, μητέρες και πατέρες ανυπεράσπιστους. Χωρίς να αναφερθούμε σε προηγούμενες χιλιετίες, αλλά σε μάχες που συνέβησαν πριν από το Δεύτερο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο: ο πόλεμος της Αιθιοπίας, ο εμφύλιος πόλεμος της Ισπανίας, ο βομβαρδισμός της Γκουέρνικα, ο πόλεμος της Ιαπωνίας για να κατακτήσει την Κίνα, παρεμβάσεις των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών στη Λατινική Αμερική∙ γεγονότα που προκάλεσαν αναστάτωση, αλλά δεν έχουν καμία ομοιότητα με τις ανατριχιαστικές σκηνές που σήμερα παρατηρούνται στις εικόνες που κάθε πολίτης βλέπει στο σπίτι του από την τηλεόραση. Οι πολιτικοί αναστατώνονται και το χάος είναι εμφανές στην παγκόσμια πολιτική σκηνή. Για αυτό κατέληξε τόσο χρήσιμη η συνάντηση με τον Βενεζουελάνο Πρόεδρο. Μου φάνηκε, ωστόσο, ότι η σιωπή δεν θα ωφελήσει κανέναν. Με κάθε ειλικρίνεια των συνεχάρη για αυτά κάνει για τον μαρτυρικό λαό της Λωρίδας της Γάζας. Οι χώρες που ζουν μία τραγωδία αξίζουν μία συνεχή βοήθεια, ισότιμη με τους πόρους της χώρας που τους την προσφέρει, όσο δύσκολη και αν είναι η δική της κατάσταση. Αυτό έκανε η Κούβα, ακόμα και στις πιο δύσκολες στιγμές της, στο πλαίσιο του έντονου αποκλεισμού από τους Αμερικάνους που διαρκεί για πάνω από μισό αιώνα. Αυτό που κάνει η Βενεζουέλα είναι παραδειγματικό. Είναι γνωστά τα αξιόποινα μέτρα του ιμπεριαλισμού εναντίον της, από τότε που προσπάθησαν να ανατρέψουν τον 2
Τσάβες με τη στήριξη της φασιστικής ολιγαρχίας της Βενεζουέλας, και να τον διαγράψουν αν ήταν δυνατόν. Αυτός όμως, ποτέ δεν ταλαντεύτηκε και ήταν αλληλέγγυος με την πατρίδα μας στους πιο δύσκολους καιρούς. Συνεχάρη τον Μαδούρο για την εξαιρετική του αλληλεγγύη με τον ηρωικό λαό της Λωρίδας της Γάζας. Μόλις έφτασαν τα πρώτα νέα της γενοκτονίας και του μεγάλου αριθμού τραυματισμένων ή δολοφονημένων παιδιών, μανάδων και άλλων ανθρώπων από τις επιθέσεις γενοκτονίας του Ισραήλ, διέταξε να προετοιμαστεί ένα στρατιωτικό αεροσκάφος, βορειοαμερικανικής κατασκευής, που μόνο με μεγάλες δυσκολίες μπορεί να ξεπεραστεί ο αποκλεισμός ανταλλακτικών από τους κατασκευαστές του, και το έστειλε με εξοπλισμό, φάρμακα και βασικά τρόφιμα στην Αίγυπτο με προορισμό την Γάζα∙ έστειλε επίσης τον ακούραστο Υπουργό Εξωτερικών στο Κάιρο, προκειμένου να λάβει στήριξη ώστε να φτάσει η βοήθεια σε αυτούς που απεγνωσμένα την χρειάζονταν. Από εκείνη τη στιγμή, οι γενναίοι βενεζουελάνοι πιλότοι μεταφέρουν το ανθρωπιστικό τους φορτίο, που επιτρέπει να σώσει μητέρες, παιδιά και ηλικιωμένους από το θάνατο. Παρόλα αυτά διάβασα σήμερα από το ειδησεογραφικό πρακτορείο AP από τη Βενεζουέλα,

δηλώσεις
από
την
«Ένωση
Κλινικών
και
Νοσοκομείων της Βενεζουέλας, όπου ομαδοποιεί «Ιδιωτικά Κέντρα Υγείας της χώρας», ζητώντας από την Κυβέρνηση να κηρύξει «Ανθρωπιστική κατάσταση έκτακτης ανάγκης» για να αντιμετωπίσει «την έλλειψη προμηθειών, φαρμάκων, ιατρικού εξοπλισμού και ανταλλακτικών» που ισχυρίζονται, «θέτουν σε κίνδυνο τις ζωές των ανθρώπων». Τι τεράστια σύμπτωση! Αυτό το αίτημα γίνεται ακριβώς όταν στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας παράγεται από τους ισραηλινούς-γιάνκηδες, η γενοκτονία της φτωχότερης και πιο πυκνοκατοικημένης ζώνης αυτής της κοινότητας που ζει εκεί χιλιετίες. Αυτό είναι που κάνει τόσο άξια τη συμπεριφορά του Μαδούρο, των στρατιωτικών και ειδικευόμενων βενεζουελάνων, οι οποίοι πραγματοποιούν μία τόσο υποδειγματική δράση ενάντια στην τραγωδία του αδερφού λαού της Παλαιστίνης. Πολλά πράγματα θα μπορούσαν να ειπωθούν μπροστά σε αυτό το αξιοσημείωτο γεγονός, αν ο Homo Sapiens καταφέρει να επιβιώσει –κάτι που εξαρτάται από τον ίδιο-, και δεν θα εξαλείψει τον εαυτό του.

Κατά τη διάρκεια μίας περιοδείας σε τομείς που αφορούν μεγάλες διατροφικές προοπτικές εμφανίστηκαν δύο εργαζόμενες. Τις ρώτησα αν γνώριζαν τον συνοδό. Τον κοίταξαν καλά και είπαν: «Ο πρόεδρος Μαδούρο», και χαμογέλασαν πονηρά. Τις ρώτησα τι βαθμό σχολικής εκπαίδευσης είχαν. Η νεότερη είπε: «12 τάξεις». Η άλλη, ακόμα νέα και δυνατή, απάντησε πως ήταν απόφοιτη καθηγήτρια Φυσικής Αγωγής και Αθλητισμού, όπως και εργάστηκε για αρκετά χρόνια. Τέλος τις ρώτησα αν θα ήταν πρόθυμες να εργαστούν στη Βενεζουέλα, και με ενθουσιασμό μου απάντησαν: «Μα φυσικά και ναι!». La Verdadera Amistad Ayer recibí la visita del Presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, quien realizó un viaje al exterior relacionado con la defensa de importantes intereses petroleros de su país. A su paso por Cuba aprovechó para hacer un contacto conmigo y saludarme personalmente como había prometido, el 13 de agosto del presente año cuando tuve el privilegio de cumplir 88 años. Ese día me había obsequiado algunas frutas, entre ellas, unas pequeñitas como perlas, que yo ni siquiera había visto nunca y son de excelente sabor. También me regaló un uniforme deportivo, obsequio de los atletas venezolanos que buscan laureles para su país. Me alegró extraordinariamente que cumpliera tan pronto su visita, no solo por el honor que implica su presencia y acción rápida, que requiere la difícil tarea de llevar adelante la épica lucha de Hugo Chávez, sino también por las actividades excepcionales que está realizando. Nuestro mundo está viviendo un momento excepcional y único, cada día es mayor el número de personas que está pendiente de ello. Entre tales acontecimientos, uno de los más dramáticos es el genocidio que se lleva a cabo en la Franja de Gaza, donde 1,8 millones de seres humanos viven acorralados entre el desierto, el mar y el poderío militar de un país del Oriente Medio, donde el imperio más poderoso que ha existido nunca ha creado a lo largo de más de medio siglo, y a un costo, según algunos estimados, que se aproxima a cien mil millones de dólares, una potencia militar nuclear sofisticada y a la vez irresponsable. Muchas personas se preguntan: ¿Quién gobierna a quién, Estados Unidos a Israel o Israel a Estados Unidos? Los hechos son visibles. Cohetes con blancos programados, bombarderos veloces y precisos, artillería blindada y tanques modernos, atacan edificios repletos de personas, así como a hospitales, escuelas e instalaciones de servicios, matando niños, jóvenes, ancianos, madres y padres indefensos. Antes ocurrían hechos atroces. Sin remitirnos desde luego a pasados milenios, sino a luchas que sucedían antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial: guerra de Etiopía, Guerra Civil de España, bombardeo de Guernica, guerra de Japón para conquistar a China, 5
intervenciones de Estados Unidos en América Latina; hechos que causaban conmoción, pero que en nada se parecían a las espeluznantes escenas que hoy se observan en las imágenes que cada ciudadano ve en sus hogares por televisión. Los políticos se turban y el caos se hace evidente en la política mundial. Por ello resultó tan útil el encuentro con el Presidente Venezolano. Me pareció sin embargo que guardar silencio no beneficiaría a nadie. Con la mayor sinceridad lo felicité por lo que estaba haciendo por el pueblo mártir de la Franja de Gaza. Que los países que sufren una tragedia merecen una ayuda continua en la medida de los recursos de un país, por dura que sea su propia situación. Eso fue lo que hizo Cuba, aun en sus tiempos más difíciles, bajo el feroz bloqueo yanki que dura ya más de medio siglo. Lo que hace hoy Venezuela es un ejemplo excepcional. Son conocidas las medidas púnicas del imperialismo contra ella, desde que intentaron derrocar a Chávez con el apoyo de la oligarquía fascista de Venezuela, y eliminarlo si fuera posible. Éste nunca vaciló y fue solidario con nuestra Patria en los tiempos más difíciles. Felicité a Maduro por su extraordinaria solidaridad con el pueblo heroico de la Franja de Gaza. Apenas llegaron noticias del genocidio y el elevado número de niños, madres y otras personas heridas o asesinadas por los ataques genocidas de Israel, ordenó preparar un avión militar de carga, de fabricación norteamericana, que solo con grandes dificultades puede superar el bloqueo de piezas por sus fabricantes, y enviarlo con equipos, medicamentos y alimentos esenciales a Egipto con destino a Gaza; envió además al incansable Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores a El Cairo a fin de obtener el apoyo pertinente para hacérselos llegar a quienes desesperadamente lo necesitaban. Desde entonces los valientes pilotos venezolanos transportan su carga humanitaria, que permite salvar madres, niños y ancianos de la muerte. Leía hoy sin embargo un despacho de la agencia AP procedente de Venezuela, en el que se publican declaraciones de la “Asociación de Clínicas y Hospitales de Venezuela, que agrupa” a “centros de salud privados del país”, pidiendo al Gobierno que se declare una “emergencia humanitaria” para hacer frente a la “escasez de insumos, medicamentos, equipos médicos y repuestos” que, aseguran, “ponen en riesgo la vida de la población.”

¡Qué enorme casualidad! Esta demanda se realiza precisamente cuando en la Franja de Gaza se produce el genocidio yanki-israelita de la zona más pobre y superpoblada de esa comunidad que ha vivido allí a lo largo de milenios. Eso es lo que hace tan meritoria la conducta de Maduro y los militares y especialistas venezolanos que llevan a cabo tan ejemplar acción ante la tragedia del pueblo hermano de Palestina. Muchas cosas se podrían decir ante este hecho notable si el Homo Sapiens lograra vivir -lo que estaría en sus manos-, y no se extermina a sí mismo. Durante un recorrido por áreas que implican grandes perspectivas alimentarias, aparecen dos trabajadoras. Les pregunté si conocían al acompañante. Lo miraron bien y dijeron: “El presidente Maduro”, y sonrieron con picardía. Les pregunté qué nivel de escolaridad tenían. La más joven dijo: “12 grados”. La otra, todavía joven y fuerte, respondió que era graduada como profesora de Educación Física y Deportes, en lo que trabajó varios años. Finalmente les pregunté si estarían dispuestas a trabajar en Venezuela, y con entusiasmo me respondieron: “¡Por supuesto que sí!”. No me extiendo si pretendo publicar este escrito hoy mismo, como le expresé al Presidente venezolano.

True Friendship
Yesterday I received the visit of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, who made a trip abroad related to the defense of major oil interests of his country. White rocket scheduled, fast and accurate bombers, artillery and armored modern tanks, attack buildings full of people, as well as hospitals, schools and service facilities; killing children, youth, elderly, mothers, and fathers. This demand is realized precisely when the Gaza Strip Yankee-Israeli genocide occurs and the poorest overcrowded area in the community who have lived there for millennia. That’s what makes it so meritorious conduct Maduro and Venezuelan military and specialists who perform exemplary conduct as to the tragedy of the brotherly people of Palestine. Many things could be said at this remarkable fact if Homo Sapiens managed to live, what would be in their hands, and not kills himself.

Finally I asked them if they would be willing to work in Venezuela, and I enthusiastically responded, “Of course I do!”. I will not expand if you intend to publish this letter today, as I expressed to the Venezuelan President.
