Ανακοίνωση Εχθές το βράδυ της Κυριακής 4 Μαΐου, λεπτά αφού έμαθε για την νίκη του Εκλεγμένου Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας του Παναμά, Χουάν Κάρλος Βαρέλα, ο Πρόεδρος Νικολάς Μαδούρο επικοινώνησε μαζί του τηλεφωνικά για να συγχαρεί τον ίδιο και τον Παναμέζικο λαό, εκ μέρους του Βενεζουελανικού λαού. Η συζήτηση επέτρεψε στους δύο Προέδρους, να θυμηθούν την εποχή που και οι δύο εργάζονταν ως Υπουργοί Εξωτερικών, όταν συνεργάστηκαν για τη δημιουργία της Κοινότητας Κρατών της Λατινικής Αμερικής και της Καραϊβικής (CELAC). Επιπλέον, ο Πρόεδρος Νικολάς Μαδούρο Μόρος ευχαρίστησε τον Εκλεγμένο Πρόεδρο Βαρέλα για την μεγάλη αλληλεγγύη που επέδειξε κατά τον χρόνο της ανάρρωσης του Αιώνιου Κομαντάντε της Μπολιβαριανής Επανάστασης, Ούγκο Τσάβες Φρίας. Οι ηγέτες υποσχέθηκαν να επιταχύνουν την εξομάλυνση και την επανέναρξη των διπλωματικών, εμπορικών και συνεργατικών σχέσεων, μεταξύ του Παναμά και της Βενεζουέλας, αδελφά έθνη, παιδιά του Πατέρα Απελευθερωτή Σιμόν Μπολίβαρ, ο οποίος 190 χρόνια πριν (1824), αναφέρθηκε στον σημαντικό ρόλο του Παναμά κατά το κάλεσμα του στο Αμφικτιονικό Συνέδριο, όταν είπε «αν ο κόσμος είχε να επιλέξει την πρωτεύουσά του, ο Ισθμός του Παναμά θα διοριζόταν για αυτό το σεβαστό πεπρωμένο, τοποθετημένος, όπως είναι, στο κέντρο της υδρογείου». Τέλος, οι Πρόεδροι επιβεβαίωσαν την ισχυρή τους δέσμευση να συνεχίσουν την προώθηση της ενοποίησης της Λατινικής Αμερικής και της Καραϊβικής μέσα στο πλαίσιο της CELAC. Καράκας, 5 Μαΐου, 2014

Comunicado En la noche de ayer domingo 04 de mayo, minutos después de conocerse la victoria del Presidente Electo de la República de Panamá, Juan Carlos Varela; el Presidente Nicolás Maduro Moros se comunicó telefónicamente con él, para felicitarle así como al pueblo panameño, en nombre del pueblo venezolano. La conversación permitió a los dos Presidentes recordar el tiempo en que coincidieron en labores de Ministros de Relaciones Exteriores, cuando trabajaron juntos para la conformación de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC). Asimismo, el Presidente Nicolás Maduro Moros agradeció al Presidente Electo Varela por la gran solidaridad demostrada en la época de convalecencia del Comandante Eterno de la Revolución Bolivariana, Hugo Chávez Frías. Los mandatarios se comprometieron a acelerar la normalización y el relanzamiento de las relaciones diplomáticas, comerciales y de cooperación entre Panamá y Venezuela, naciones hermanas, hijas del Padre Libertador Simón Bolívar; quien hace 190 años (1824), se refirió al papel importante que juega Panamá en su convocatoria al Congreso Anfictiónico, cuando dijo “que si el mundo hubiese de elegir su capital, el Istmo de Panamá sería señalado para este augusto destino, colocado, como está, en el centro del globo”. Finalmente, los Presidentes reiteraron su firme compromiso de continuar impulsando la integración latinoamericana y caribeña en el marco de la CELAC. Caracas, 5 de mayo de 2014

Announcement Yesterday night on Sunday, May 4, minutes after learning of the victory of the Elected President of the Republic of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela; President Nicolás Maduro called him to congratulate him and the Panamanian people, on behalf of the Venezuelan people. The conversation allowed to the two Presidents, to remember the time they both worked as Ministers of Foreign Affairs, when they worked together for the creation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). Additionally, the President Nicolás Maduro Moros thanked the Elected President Varela for the great solidarity shown at the time of convalescence of the Eternal Commander of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez Frias. The leaders promised to accelerate the normalization and the relaunch of the diplomatic, commercial and cooperative relations, between Panama and Venezuela, sister nations, daughters of Father Liberator Simon Bolivar, who 190 years ago (1824), he referred to the important role of Panama during its call to the Amphictyonic Congress, when he said “If the world had to choose its capital, the Isthmus of Panama would be appointed to this august destiny, placed, as is in the center of the globe”.
