Foreign Minister Rodriguez denounced international smear campaign against Venezuela
Caracas, January 7, 2016 (MPPRE) .- The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, said this Thursday that the lack of recognition of a decision from the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) by any body of national government would imply contempt of court. “In the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) are curently enrolled hundreds of resources of legal challenges. In this specific case, the Supreme Court issued a precautionary statement to stop an act of proclamation of deputies and therefore any action or any act of national public power that ignores the judgment of a court of the Republic of Venezuela incurs contempt of court’s decision”. This statement was made by Venezuelan Foreign Minister during a meeting with the diplomatic bodies accredited in Venezuela, “not to continue selling the world the lies and slander of what is happening in Venezuela. We have the responsibility as legitimate and constitutional government to enforce the laws of the Republic”. In this context, she explained to the diplomats that “what the law contemplated and which is the appeal that has been filed by some MPs who have sufficient evidence to show that the will of the people in Amazonas state has been twisted” on the 6th of December. Rodriguez said that the diplomatic corps accredited in a host country should gird their performance according to international law, the Vienna Convention and the laws of the country to which they are accredited.
“I invite you not to interfere in national political life, Venezuela is today the victim of an unconventional war, therefore we appeal to the diplomats accredited to Venezuela not to get involved in the political life of Venezuela, it is not their right, nor their interest”. On behalf of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, she extended a call to the diplomatic corps accredited to Venezuela to strengthen the bilateral relations, the cooperation, the friendship and unity. She stressed that the government and the Venezuelan people will continue to defend their national sovereignty, the independence of the homeland and self-determination because “we are a free people”. Disrespect to Simon Bolivar During the meeting with diplomats, Rodriguez denounced the disrespect of the board of the National Assembly, led by the extreme right, towards the image of the Liberator, Simon Bolivar, and Commander Hugo Chavez on 6th of January. “The whole world witnessed a shameful act of provocation, trying to bring escalating violence in the national political situation, we know what the imperial forces look for in our country [...] the President of the Republic stated correctly today, in the Mountain’s Barracks, that an international intervention against Venezuela, based on situations of violence caused by the Venezuelan Right and by the hand of its imperial masters, is intended”. She explained that acts of developed offense in the National Assembly against Simon Bolivar, the Liberator, is an act that violates the preamble of Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Constitution), in which the figure of Bolivar is seen as part of the historical legacy of Venezuela, for its symbolism and for its relevance. “This is a provocative act, an act of aggresion against CRBV, the Venezuelan opposition is accustomed to ignoring and violating the laws of the country, they have a past that we all know”.
