Venezuela and Greece strengthen bilateral relations
Athens, January 11, 2015.- A formal meeting took place in Greece, between the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Farid Fernandez and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yannis Amanatidis, in order to analyze possible ways to strengthen bilateral relations in education and culture. During the meeting, the cultural and educational development of both countries was evaluated and some possible areas to be strengthened have been assessed, in the framework of a joint cooperation based mainly on mutual respect, solidarity and complementarity. Specifically, the Deputy Minister, Yannis Amanatidis, expressed broad interest in extensive cooperation on this matter with the student exchange, while reiterating its strong motivation to work with the Bolivarian Government to strengthen cultural ties. Likewise, he referred to the Hellenic community resident in Venezuela, highlighting the good relations that traditionally govern both countries. For his part, Ambassador Farid Fernandez, informed the Deputy Minister on the importance that the Bolivarian government gives in terms of progressing in education and culture, being a key matter in the work plans of President Nicolas Maduro. He also stressed the importance of the year 2016, as the 200 th Anniversary of the Death of General Francisco de Miranda, who was the first Venezuelan to visit Hellenic lands, and a possibility of a joint cultural agenda for this commemoration was evaluated.
Finally, both sides agreed to resume their appointment in this new context of cooperation in culture and education, to continue, thus, reinforcing a common work plan. /Embassy.
