Artistic DIY: Painted Embroidery Learn how to use Inktense Ink Pencils®, Aloe gel, and a paintbrush to color an outline embroidery design.

Create Your Own 1. Embroider your design in white or black thread onto natural fabric 2. Paint a small section with fabric medium 3. Outline the edges of the section using Inktense Ink Pencils® 4. Paint the section with aloe gel to distribute color to the desired area 5. Repeat steps 1-4 for other areas that you’d like this color 6. Before changing colors, dry the painted sections with a hair dryer to set the color 7. Repeat steps 1-6 for each color until your piece is complete View step-by-step photos of this tutorial on embroiderydesigns.com.

Embroidery Supplies: • Outline embroidery design • White or black polyester embroidery thread • 100% natural fabric like cotton, linen, or canvas

Painting Supplies: • Inktense Ink Pencils® • Clear Aloe gel • Fabric medium • Water color palette • Water in a cup to rinse your brushes • Small semi-stiff paint brushes (in both round and flat shapes) • Hand held hair dryer

Cork is a bulky fabric that is difficult to hoop. Instead of hooping your cork, hoop your stabilizer then use spray adhesive to adhere it.

Vinyl Tips:

Like cork, it’s best to hoop your stabilizer then use spray adhesive to secure your vinyl. This will hold it in place while conserving material and avoiding bulk.
