The four-lane widening of Leitrim Road won’t happen until after 2031, and while its planning is now underway, it can’t happen soon enough for Findlay Creek and Leitrim residents and area commuters. “There’s been nothing done on the road infrastructure on the south end,” Findlay Creek resident George Barrett told Gloucester-South Nepean Coun. Michael Qaqish during the first open house on the environmental assessment study for the widening and realignment project, held Sept. 20 at the Fred Barrett Recreation Centre. “We’re going to have high demand and we need to put money into that, and we can’t wait another 15 years. We can’t wait for the airport,” Barrett said, referencing a plan to construct an eastwest runway at the south end of its property, tentatively slated to happen around 2045. See PROJECT, page 3
