The Water Charges
MJH2
Explaining the Theme of my Photographs of Water Charges Taking the Water Charges photographs was a challenge. Even though I did make storyboards for this assignment it was not like the Urban Landscape. In the first assignment the photographs were available at anytime. With the Water Charges it was a protest that was happening at a certain time and place. I found it harder to get the type of photographs that I wanted. The first photograph is a group of people standing behind a banner saying “Carlow says no to the Water Charges” and “Water is a Right” why I like it is because these people had a message and they were getting it across. The second photograph is very colourful and your eye is drawn to this group of people who are passionate about the water charges The third photograph is a simple poster saying Muppets Out Now and pictures of Enda Kenny and Joan Burton, which I think is very powerful. The fourth photograph is a poster made up of newspaper articles of how the people of Ireland are footing the bill for the likes of “taxpayers footing €14m driving bill for TD’s and president.” This poster is statements how the Irish citizens are being bleed dry by the Irish Government. Editing I was happy with the pictures I took and did very little editing. I cropped some of the photographs and changed the colour to CMYK so it was suitable for printing in a newspaper or magazine. Evaluate the work This photo shoot was not as easy as the first one because it was a live event and you had to take photographs as it happened it was not possible to get people to do it again, because of this I did miss some really good shoots. But I did get shoots that I did not expect to get. So over all I feel that I got some good shoots and it show how the people of Ireland are feeling about the Water Charges.
