RESEARCH INITIATIVES INTRODUCTION

Overview of individual members initiatives Given the breadth of the EMES international membership, compiling all the information from individual members remains a very heavy task. The first attempt has been gathered in this document. We will aim at gathering a wider overview of the relevant initiatives put together by EMES individual members in the coming years.

Overview of individual members initiatives

In addition to joint research initiatives, EMES members participate in numerous international research projects, including:

The LIPSE project This FP7-funded research project identifies drivers and barriers to successful social innovation in the public sector in 11 EU countries and 7 policy sectors. Through studying social innovation and co-creation practices and processes in 11 European countries and 7 policy sectors, LIPSE will create and disseminate essential knowledge about public innovation. Five building blocks of social innovation in the public sector will be examined: innovation environments; innovation inputs; innovation tools and processes; innovation outcomes; and feedback loops and innovative systems. The project will firstly map institutional environments to study the role of social capital, innovation champions and leadership, using survey research and social

use of risk management in innovation processes. A work package on innovation diffusion and adoption will assess what factors contribute to the succesful upscaling of ICT-driven social innovations, with a focus on tele-working (as a way of new working) and e-procurement. Finally, the project will develop a comprehensive set of public sector social innovation indicators and explore future trends in social innovation through scenario-mapping with academic and practitioner experts.

PUBLICATIONS

EURICSE’s Working Paper Series consists in a collection of papers that are available for free in electronic format and can be downloaded on the Center’s website as well as on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN). This allows for a broad dissemination of articles focused on the main research topics of the Institute (i.e. cooperative and social enterprises’ rationale, evolution, role, behaviour, and impact) and it stimulates debate among scholars and practitioners working in the same field. Euricse’s Working Paper Series includes articles written in English, Italian or other European languages according to various disciplinary perspectives that range from economics, law, sociology, history, and political science. The Series also comprises key studies focused on territorial/sectoral analyses. Experts of the field, as well as Ph.D. students and young researchers, are offered the opportunity to contribute to the Series. The Series has launched a total of 18 numbers this year, listed below: kk Sacchetti S. & Tortia E.C. “The Internal and External Governance of
