Final Outcome Idea 1:

My first idea for a final piece that stems from my chosen garment is to plan a fashion show with a line of Disney princess dresses that are designed for celebrities to wear on the red carpet. These dresses will keep the origin of the traditional characters dress with a modern and more red-carpet appropriate style. This range will include the older and original Disney princesses such as Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty but will also include dresses from the more recent princesses for example Moana, Merida and Elsa. After my research I believe that the designer Zac Posen would be the best fit to create this Disney themed runway. The set of the catwalk would be in a castle upon a hill to give the impression of the Cinderella castle and would be decorated in Disney style wedding decorations. Each model used will be a look alike of the Disney princess in the film and will walk down the runway with slow tempo Disney music such as Beauty and the Beast, When you wish upon a star and I see the light.

Target Audience:

The target market for this runway would be between the Millennials and Gen Z. The catwalk will create nostalgia for the audience who were fans of Disney Princess’s as a child. Even though the first Disney Princess, Snow White, was created in 1937 Disney only started to become popular in in 1980’s and continues its success into today (Disney, 2021). Castle Exterior

Final Outcome Idea 2:

From my research another idea I have is to create an editorial photoshoot exploring the idea of what makes a princess. Throughout my research I have compared the portrayal of a Disney Princess with the British Royal family and the impact that Princess Diana’s and more recently Meghan and Harry’s interview has had on the ideologies of what makes a princess. Therefore, this editorial shoot will demonstrate how the life of a princess is a life of luxury, but a princess is still a human, the same as everyone else.

The images will show a selection of Disney princesses through a perspective of real life and not the fantasy that is portrayed through Disney. I will create four different images with four different Disney Princess’s in a modern-day setting. These images will have reference to the origin of their narrative through the use of costume and props. For example, the use of pink costuming and the setting as a bed for Sleeping Beauty. Princess Jasmine

For my four photoshoots I am going to use four different These images by Daria Artemieva match the vision I have princesses that have very different looks and from different to portray the theme of ‘what makes a princess’ as I will cultures within the films. 1. Sleeping Beauty 2. Princess Jasmine create an editorial shoot that strips the fantasy out of a Disney Princess and taking away the pressures for real life royalty by photographing them in real life settings and clothing. 3. Ariel 4. Belle Chosen Outcome Idea:
