European Short Pitch 2016 Ten years ago, European Short Pitch started off with a very noble dream: creating a platform to nurture young, European talent and develop short film coproduction in Europe. And here we are, 10 editions, 200 projects, 75 made films and plenty a successful coproduction later. We’re as alive as ever and still coveting that same noble dream to create and keep on creating sustainable bridges and a spotlight to showcase emerging European short filmmakers while having a structuring effect on the short film industry. And not only do we put our stamp on the event and the projects itself, we are present in 31 countries, partners of 14 festivals, organise or take part in panel discussions all over Europe, so as to promote and facilitate coproduction in short films, because we truly believe in its added value both artistically and financially. But, if being truly honest, European Short Pitch is about so much more than those success stories. In the end, what European Short Pitch is bringing filmmakers and industry professionals alike, is the building of a network to insure certain films are being made. Short films are a stepping stone to features, but also an art form per se. It is often a laboratory, a meeting point for exciting projects to come. ESP focuses on professionalising while keeping it fun. We’re fully aware the short film industry is an ever-changing and fickle animal, but that definitely won’t stop us from aiming to be at the forefront of its evolving needs at all times. Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu Founded in Luxembourg in 1995 and in Vienna in 2001, AMOUR FOU Luxembourg and AMOUR FOU Vienna, realise artistically exceptional feature, documentary and short films for the international market with international and, most frequently, European partners. Throughout the process AMOUR FOU stands for vision and pushing the envelope, whether in regard to aesthetics, production or distribution strategies. The focus is on European independent auteur cinema and the distinctive “handwriting” of the directors who work with AMOUR FOU. The associate partners of AMOUR FOU Vienna and AMOUR FOU Luxembourg are Bady Minck and Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu.

Maarten Alexander Maarten Alexander was born in 1985 in Antwerp, Belgium. He graduated in 2008 from Ghent University with a Master’s degree in communication & film sciences, after which he started working for several film festivals, among them Flanders Ghent Film Fest (Ghent), MOOOV Film Festival (Brughes, Turnhout and 6 other cities in Flanders), DOCVILLE International Documentary Film Festival (Leuven) and Leuven International Short Film Fest. Maarten did production work for a couple of short films and worked for art house cinemas in Antwerp and Leuven, combined with a job for Benelux film distribution company ABC Distribution/ Cinemien. In 2011 he started working for the Flemish institute for visual, audiovisual and media art, where he worked on the digitization of arthouse cinemas in Belgium. In 2013 Maarten joined the team of Leuven International Short Film Festival as festival director.

Julie Esparbes

After finishing a Master degree in European politics (UCL, Belgium - 2007), Amel Bouzid attends the Production Certificate courses at the IAD. Starting from 2008, she joins force with the team of Novak Prod (active since 2001 under the direction of Olivier Dubois). She acted as an associate producer for Lagy Eso by Denes Nagy (Premiere at La Quinzaine – Cannes 2013), then as executive producer for And Romeo Married Juliette (Best Muhr Short - Dubai International Film Festival 2014). She is currently developing two transmedia projects besides several documentaries for cinema and TV.

Graduated in Political Sciences, with a Master in Cultural Management, I soon left political issues to cinematographic ones. During my studies, I had several work experience in different fields: distribution (at “La Big Family”, an association that works on distribution and sales of short films), audiovisual cooperation (at the French Embassy of Santiago, Chile) and festival programmation (at the Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur). I entered the Belgian production company Hélicotronc in 2008 as a production assistant. Executive producer on many films, I’m now also producer of the Hélicotronc’s short films.

Visu-L is a production company based Wallonia, Belgium. They produced short films “Hi! Mates - Reverse decision - 30 minutes by day” and documentary “Voodoo, the origins”. Samuel Lampaert, owner of Visu-L, also director, his nominated with his latest short “The wall” to the European Films Awards 2016. The company aim to produce more films in the future, from several directors. Since january, Samuel Lampaert is member at the Commission of Selection of Films, in FWB, giving grants to selected short and feature films projects.

Soon-Mi Peten holds a Master’s Degree in European Law from the College of Europe. After graduating in Script Writing and Cinema Analysis at the University Libre, Brussels she carried out further research into cinema studies. Soon-Mi was an audiovisual consultant for five years before joining the MEDIA Programme in 2000 where she first specialised in Development support. She is currently Head of Promotion, Training and festivals within the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency.

Ben Tesseur is a Belgian film producer, director and animator. Together with Steven De Beul he I founded Beast Animation in 2004. A company specialised in stop-motion animation, mainly for film, commercials and TV series. Beast Animation is known for their part in several international awarded films and commercials. Like the Panique au village films, the short film Oh Willyâ&#x20AC;Ś and TV series Dimitri and Rintje. Nowadays, Ben is directing and producing new work for Beast Animation.

Born in 1981 in Belgium. After his studies at the Rits film school in Brussels, he started working at Czar. be as media manager, editor, â&#x20AC;Ś In 2009 he started producing and coproducing award winning short films that have been shown all around the world, including Sundance, Berlinale, SXSW, Clermont-Ferrand, ... etc. This with his own production entity, Bekke Films. Out of this festival experiences, the sales/distribution/promotion agency RADIATOR Intellectual Property Sales emerged in 2015. The lineup now consists of about 60 award winning short films and several feature films. 2016 will be the year of growth and new experiences, including the participation at the European Short Pitch with two projects, the participation at Euro connections at Clermont-Ferrand ISFF and being part of the Berlinale Talents 2016.

Luka Venturin

Siniša Juričić holds a degree in Acting (1990) as well as a degree in Film Production (2009) from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. Siniša’s focus is on producing films and helping talented filmmakers from the EEC to achieve their full international potential. His recent works include, amongst others, co-producing “The Chicken” (dir. by Una Gunjak, received the European Film Award in 2014), “Full Contact” (dir. by David Verbeek, premiered at Toronto IFF 2015) and “Interruption” (dir. by Yorgos Zois, premiered at Venice Film Festival 2015). He attended workshops such as Inside Pictures (2015), EAVE+ (2014), EAVE (2007) and many more.

After obtaining a BA in economics at VERN School of entrepreneurship in Zagreb, and while studying film production at The Academy of Dramatic Art, Luka started working in production with several production companies, dealing with film, TV and commercials. He also took part in the organization of major film festivals and industry events in Croatia (ZFF, Zagrebdox) as well as abroad (WEMW coproduction forum). Since 2010 works in Sekvenca, based in Zagreb, where he works on development of documentary and fiction film and TV projects by young, perspective writers and directors. As Sarajevo Talent Campus alumni 2012, he was selected as a producer at Sarajevo City of Film project in 2013, where he produced three short films by international authors. After producing other short films and documentary projects his biggest success came in 2015. when he produced the short film Picnic. Picnic premiered in Berlinale, went on to win dozens of festivals across the world, culminating with the European Film Award for Best European short in 2015. He is currently working on development of a documentary feature Lost Dream Team, as well as other projects.

CPH:DOX Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival runs a pioneering talent development and production scheme for international filmmakers called CPH:LAB. The lab encourages creative risk-taking, celebrates raw talent, facilitates collaboration across borders and business sectors and supports frontrunners within the film industry to push the existing boundaries of filmmaking as we know it.

Marianne Ostrat graduated with a BA in Audiovisual Media from the Tallinn University in 2006, in 2009 with a MA in Film Arts with specialization in producing from Baltic Film and Media School and in 2013 from the EAVE European Producers Workshop. In 2006 she established her own production company Alexandra Film and is also the founder, partner and creative producer of Fork Film Animation Studio established in 2010. Her first film as an independent producer, medium-length drama “Strays” (dir: Sutharsan “Sui” Bala), participated at 14 international film festivals and received four special mentions. After that, Marianne produced two documentary films - “Being Normal” (dir: Tanno Mee, 2010) and “The Measure of Man” (dir: Marianne Kõrver, 2011). Currently, Marianne is working on her first feature film - a microbudget existential comedy “The End of The Chain” (dir: Priit Pääsuke, shooting completed in Dec 2015), a Swedish-Estonian animated short “Amalimbo” (dir: Juan Pablo Libossart, in post-production), is in financing with Tanno Mee’s short fiction “Birthday” and develops two other feature films.

Head of CPH:LAB Mille Haynes holds an MA in film studies 2009 and is an EAVE graduate 2013. As an independent film producer, Haynes has a track record of award-winning documentaries and experimental films, freelance consultancy for DFI/Filmworkshop, teaching producer workshops, festival curating and jury work for Danish Film Academy and Nordisk Panorama.

Louise Bellicaud graduated from the Media Business School with a Post Graduate Training “European Audiovisual Management”. She started her career in French film distribution in Mexico. She went to London working in feature film financing at “Future Films”. Coming back to France, she worked during four years at Sacrebleu Productions . She set up in 2015 her company In Vivo Films which aims to support talents from various backgrounds and countries. In Vivo films develops projects with a strong cultural identity based on local topics with the potential to reach an international audience. In Vivo Films is currently developping two feature films: « Pagan Magic » by Fyzal Boulifa, (France-Morocco) and « El son de Eliecer » by Joan Gomez, (ColombiaFrance). And several short films: « Serial » by Wim Vanacker (France-Belgium),« Chiennes » by Meyrem Benmbarek (France-Morocco), « I woke up one morning in October » by Jow Zhi Wei (France-Mongolia) .

Rémi Bernard started his career as a graphic designer and photographer. He approached the cinema through storyboard drawing, then started to write and direct short films, some of them wining awards in international festivals. In 2004, he created Paris Courts Devant Short Film Festival, that became international a few years later, and is now the biggest in Paris. As Art Director and General Manager of Paris Courts Devant since the beginning, he has designed and launched several new initiatives such as « Scénarios Vivants », « Ça tourne en Ile-de-France » and « Euro Courts Devant », a twoday event to promote, encourage and improve European coproductions and broadcasting of short films, including “C3PM”, a co-production postproduction mini-market. He reads short film scripts for the French cinema body CNC “contribution financière”, and is a member of the short films college of the Académie des César.

Producer from 2008 at FILMO, he began his career in distribution companies such as Pyramid, Pan-European, Polygram and Universal Pictures. Then he worked in various labs and film post-production structures as JACKSON as CMC-LVT-DIGIMAGE. With over 20 works produced whose recents short films ON THE EDGE by Grégoire COLIN, MODEL VILLAGE of Hayoun KWON, (Rotterdam & « Le cinéma du réel ») , or film of Arnaud DUFEYS: VERTIGO, coproduced with Belgium. He continued the development of new authors .The last films produced includes the next ALI ASGARI’s film : THE PAIN, JULIEN SICARD’s SAID’CREMATION, SABINE by Sylvain ROBINEAU and the animated movie LEAD IN THE HEAD by Aurore PEUFFIER. He also started a coproduction with the first feature film by the Taiwanese director Cheng-chui KUO and developps the first feature of Didier BLASCO. Olivier is a member of the short films selection committee at Cannes Intl Film Festival and shorts movies Committee of the Academy of arts and techniques of French Cinema for Cesar prize. He was also elected as a member of the short film commission of Unifrance and at the Independent Producers Union (SPI).

In October 2010, he created Films de Force Majeure, a production and distribution company based in Marseille (France), which focuses mainly on author-driven feature documentaries and animated short films, with a special interest in hybrid projects and international collaborations. Since then, he has produced 3 documentaries and 8 short films, with substantial festival success, including Paul Wennigner’s animated short Uncanny Valley (Annecy 2015, Clermont-Ferrand 2016, broadcasted on Arte/ZDF, ORF) as well as Flavie Pinatel’s documentary short Ramallah (FID 2013). He is currently working on the feature documentary Game Girls by Alina Skrzeszewska, the animated web-serie Swamp by Paul Wenninger and the animated short Abymes by Julien Telle and Renaud Perrin, as well as Flavie Pinatel’s next documentary short Songs next door. He is EAVE 2015 Graduate and attended DocuRegio 2011, LisbonDocs 2012, EP2C 2014, Rotterdam Lab 2015. He is member of the SPI (French Independent Producers Guild) and of the board of the Production Fund for Documentary at ECLA/Aquitaine Region.

Matthieu Darras acts as Head of Programmes for the TorinoFilmLab, and collaborates with various film talents initiatives such as Venice Biennale College, Jerusalem Film Lab or When East Meets West’s First Cut Lab.

Emilie Dubois graduated from ENS Louis Lumière Film School in 2007. Since then, she has worked as a postproduction supervisor and line producer on more than 30 short films. She started producing in 2012, first with les films au long cours, then for Origine films. Based in Paris and Lyon, France, Origine films is both a production company and a sales agency for short films. Created in 2011, the company now represents for world sales more than 130 short films from more than 20 different countries, from drama to fantasy. Its aim is to create a network of young filmmakers throughout the world and to further explore possible future coproductions with the producers and directors the company represents as sales agent. In the past years, Origine films produced or co-produced 18 short films, including 37°4 S by Adriano Valerio, Special Jury Mention in Cannes 2013 and David di Donatello for Best Short Film in 2014, and current festival hits The Black Bear, by Xavier Seron & Méryl Fortunat-Rossi, coproduced with Hélicotronc and Magritte for Best Short Film 2016, and Tuesday, by Ziya Demirel, selected in Cannes 2015, Toronto, Sundance, Rotterdam and many more.

As a festival programmer, he notably worked for Cannes Critics’ Week and as artistic director of Alba and Bratislava film festivals. He is currently delegate of San Sebastian Film Festival in charge of Eastern Europe. He writes for the French film magazine Positif. Camille Ferrero is sub-coordinator of the Paris Courts Devant international short film festival, where she is especially in charge of the Euro Courts Devant, professional meetings dedicated to European short film coproductions and broadcasting. She is also working with Parati Films, as assistant coordinator of La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde hold by the Institut Français in Cannes Film Festival. She graduated in Cultural Management in Paris (France) after having passed two bachelor degrees in Communication and in Languages (English-Spanish). During her studies she had several experiences in different fields such as media, production and festival programming. She had been a production and international sales assistant for Movie Partners in Motion Film, where she worked on feature films that were selected in prestigious festivals like Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, etc.

Sébastien Hussenot founded La Luna Productions in 1994 and first dedicated himself to the production of short-films and documentaries, always searching for new talented artists. The company proceeded to produce roughly 66 short films, 13 documentaries, 2 feature films, which travelled all across the world and received over 500 awards, including an Academy Award nomination in 2009 for the best live action short-film with MANON SUR LE BITUME (MANON ON THE ASPHALT) directed by Elizabeth Marre and Olivier Pont. LAST SEASON (Combalimon), a documentary feature film by Raphaël Mathié, (Special Jury price Seattle, ACID selection for Cannes Film Festival, Prix découverte SCAM…), was released in 2009 in theatres and broadcasted on french TV Arte in 2011. The last productions were STELLA MARIS and THIS IS THE WAY by Giacomo Abbruzzese, JAMAIS ENSEMBLE by Nadja Harek, LES NAUFRAGEURS by Raphaël Mathié, BILLIE’S BLUES by Louis-Jean Gore… He started to produce animation these last years with several projects in development. La Luna Productions is also a short films distribution company since these 10 years, representing more than 100 films.

Head of short Films Department at CNC (France) He was born in 1967, in Paris. He finished his preliminary education in science of Economy at high school and continued his higher education in law of Audiovisual Communication at Sorbonne University. He has been the grants administrator of different departments of the French National Center of Cinematography, (CNC) since 1994 : - Television program section : financial support of the audiovisual programs - Long feature film section : Development and encouraging new authors and new forms of creativity in pre-production - Short films Department : Contribution and financial support in training, producing, promoting and distributing short films ; stimulation of national and international cinematographic interchange

I started to work in the movie industry in 2007 as a production assistant. Then moved to Valencia in Spain in 2009. There I’ve had the opportunity to work for The International Medium Length Film Festival La Cabina as an International Relations manager, and as a member of the official competition selection committee. Two positions that I still occupy. These experiences have led me in 2011 to create Ikki Films with Nidia Santiago in Paris. Since then we’ve been producing short films as Les Chiens a fiction by Angèle Chiodo andChulyen, a Crow’s Tale an animation film by Agnès Patron and Cerise Lopez. A film, which received the Grand Prize at the Animatou and the Bruz festivals, and also is selected for the Cesar 2016.

Clémence Marcadier

After her Master’s degree, Clémence worked as assistant director and production assistant. In the same time she directed commercials. She won a prize for her first script that she produced and directed. She decided to create her own production company, GASP, with Olivier Chabalier. Within this stucture she produced 5 short films including coproductions with french and foreign companies. Their latest films were selected in many international festivals and TV broadcasted. In the same time Clémence is still writing her own projects. She recently won the support of a french found to write her new film.

Nele Luise Fritzsche has co-founded the international competition for scripts SCRIPT PITCH and script lab as well as INTERFORUM, the international platform for short film, which she is heading since 2013 at the International Short Film Festival interfilm Berlin. As member of the film selection committee, Nele is programming for interfilm Festival since 2014. She has been engaged regularly in the international festival industry being programmer, assistant artistic director and project manager for interfilm Berlin, Greenland Eyes Film Festival, Nordwind Festival and F40 Kunstraum. At the 59th Berlinale she assisted at the accreditation office which she continued until 2013. As curator for international projects Nele has recently joined the team of the international workspace KAOS Berln. Nele is based in Berlin and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Media and Scandinavian Studies from Humbold University.

After her course of studies in Media with focus on film - whereat she as well shot her first short films - Regina gained some experience in various fields connected to film, such as mediapedagogic projects or film festivals. Since 2011 she is part of 2Pilots Filmproduction in Cologne/Germany. 2Pilots want to connect exciting and creative stories with strong visual potential. The produced films mark themselves through authenticity and a personal authors’ handwriting. The core of their work is set in the development and production of feature films and documentary films, as well as TV documentaries and european coproductions. A supplementary focus is the further buildup of series and broader innovative formates. Regina was selected for MAIA Workshops program in 2013 just as for the advanced course International Producing at international filmschool cologne in 2014/15. In 2015 Regina produced her first documentary for TV, entitled Your work, your life!. Currently she is working on her cinematic feature debut 33.000 days of Sylvester and generating further feature, documentary and serial ideas.

Michaela Pňačeková is a producer based in Berlin, currently working at the documentary film production company Kloos & Co. Medien. For four years she worked as a festival programmer and organizer at the Berlinale’s EFM, FilmFestival Cottbus and achtung berlin – new berlin film award. She was invited to be member of the TEDDY Jury at IFF Berlinale (2007), the jury of the GLBT FF Image+Nation in Montréal, Canada (2008) and the jury of Polish short film festival Short Waves (2013). Between 2012 and 2014, she was one of the project managers of NISI MASA. In 2013, she set up the production company Sireal Films with Wim Vanacker and Wim Baeten. Their latest short film EMPIRE premiered in 2015 at the Montreal World Film Festival. Her documentary project BORDER CUT by Igor Chojna won Special Mention at the Bosch Stiftung East European Co-Production Prize 2014 and goes to production this year. In October 2016, the fiction short film PAPA BAER which she produced at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehenakademie in Berlin will be premiered at RBB. She focuses on documentaries, short fiction films and web-formats.

Emma Silhol was born in 1992 in Fontainebleau (France). She studied Politics and Economics at Sciences Po Bordeaux, graduating with a master in Risk Management and International Affairs. Bolstered by experiences in the startup world, she combined her passion for entrepreneurship and cinema by joining in 2015 Salaud Morisset, an international film production and distribution company based in Berlin. Currently head of distribution, Emma promotes Salaud Morisset’s lineup in festivals and TVs worldwide.

Ioanna has studied Mathematics at the “Mathematics – Statistics, Probability and Operations Research” Section of Patras University. She has been a member of Argonauts Productions since 2006, supervising post-production of the company’s films, starting as soon as the pre-production phase, with titles in her filmography as “STRATOS” by Yannis Economides, (in competition at the Berlinale 2014) a Greek-GermanCyprus coproduction and “DO NOT FORGET ME ISTANBUL” by Hany AbuAssad, Stefan Arsenijevic, Aida Begic, Josefina Markarian, Eric Nazarian, Stergios Niziris, Omar Shargawi, a Turkish-Greek coproduction. In 2014 she participated in the EP2C post production workshop. The last two years, Ioanna is getting involved as a producer in short films supporting fresh and capable talents. She is currently in pre-production of her first two features directed by young, Greek and first-time feature film directors, both awarded for their past short films.

Eamonn Cleary

Marcell Gerő graduated from the University of Film and Theatre Arts in Budapest in 2007 as a director in the class of János Szász. His diploma project Shock earned him recognition on the national and international level. His directional debute, Cain’s Children is a feature-length documentary that premiered at San Sebastian International Film Festival and received numerous awards during it’s festival life. As co-founder of Budapest based production company Campfilm he’s been working as a producer since acquiring his degree and produced several documentary projects with issues concerning minorities and marginalized people. Besides documentaries together with his partner Sára László he is about to enlarge Campfilm’s activities in the fiction world as well. In 2013 they produced Soft Rain, a short fiction premiered at Cannes in the Director’s Forthnight and in 2015 Bureau (TV film) that was shown at the FIPA for the first time. Currently he is working on the development of Campfilm’s fiction projects for the television and for the big screen as well.

Eamonn is an award winning Producer from Dublin with over 10 years experience Film and Television. Eamonn co-produced “Blight” and “Volkswagen Joe” for TW Films and Produced the now multi award winning, Irish Language Film “First Love”. Emanuela Barbano, Graduated in Economics and Business. In 2000 she started a twelve years career in the branded content industry, coordinating projects, video production, budget and marketing campaign. In 2013 She attended Maia Workshops - training programme for European producers. In 2014 She attended Torino Film Lab as Audience Design Participant. Jacopo Chessa (Turin, 1973). Chessa studied film studies with a focus on French cinema of the 1950s and 1960s. He has written articles and two books, taught at Université de Paris III – Sorbonne nouvelle, and collaborated with the Archivio Nazionale Cinematografico della Resistenza. In 2010, together with Andrea Spinelli, he founded the Prime Bande production company in Turin. He directed L’accordo (2011), a documentary about the last worker strikes at the FIAT Mirafiori plant, and he produced Torino Hardcore, a film about the Italian punk scene of the 1990s. Since 2014 he is the director of Aiace Nazionale and Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio, a film library and agency for the promotion of Italian short films.

After working for more than 15 years in ADV Agencies and Commercials Production Companies, he decides to open Blue Door Production with which he debuts with the short film “The Wholly Family” by Terry Gilliam, 2011 EFA Winner for the Best European Short Film. In few years he co-produced several short films working with Directors coming from various Countries. In 2013 he produces his first feature film “The Fall from Heaven” by Ferit Karahan, a Kurdish director. The film was well received at many Festivals and it won Awards for Best Film at Antalya Film Festival and at Ankara Int. Film Festival. The last short film produced in 2014 is “Caserta Palace Dream” by James McTeigue and starring Richard Dreyfuss. From 2016 he is also involved in film Distribution, becoming partner of 102 Distribution, Italian based Company. He is actually working on the development of the feature film “The death of black horses” by Ferit Karahan that won a grant as “best script” at Jerusalem Film Lab 2015.

Marija Razgutė – Lithuanian film producer, has been working since 2008 when she established a film production company ČIOBRELIAI. Meanwhile she has produced seven short films – fiction and documentary, and now working on the second feature film. One of the latest short films – The Noisemaker by Karolis Kaupinis, produced by Marija Razgutė was premiered in Festival del film Locarno in 2014, it was also awarded by Lithuanian Film Academy as the Best Lithuanian Short Film 2015. Marija Razgutė is also the co-founder of Lithuanian Short Film Agency Lithuanian Shorts, organising Vilnius International Short Film Festival, Baltic Pitching Forum. In 2010 Marija Razgutė graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts with MA in Cultural Policy and Management, is also a graduate of MAIA Workshops (2013-2014), participant of EAVE producers workshop (2016). Throughout the process AMOUR FOU stands for vision and pushing the envelope, whether in regard to aesthetics, production or distribution strategies. Bernard, born and raised in Luxembourg, has studied film production at the University of Television and Film Munich. In 2006 he founded Lucil Film, that merged in 2015 with Samsa Film. In 2008, Bernard Michaux represented Luxembourg in the Producer on the Move networking programme at the Cannes International Film Festival. In 2010, Bernard Michaux has been selected for the Producers Lab Toronto, an initiative by the European Film Promotion (EFP). Bernard Michaux is a EAVE Graduate and a member of the European Film Academy. In 2012 he partnered up with a friend to open up a successful bar in Luxembourg city.

Born in Luxembourg, he attended film studies at the ESEC in Paris and came back to Luxembourg in 1999 to work on various American and European productions. He worked as a Location manager, then Assistant Director and finally ended up being Production Manager. In 2014, he took the opportunity to work as a Project Manager at the Luxembourg Film Fund.

Starting out as a broadcast designer, Martin BonniÄ&#x2039;i has 10 years of experience in the audio-visual industries. He has he trained under experts such as Laurence Moody, Bobette Buster and David Howard amongst others. Working in several departments has allowed him to gain an understanding of various processes from animation to live-action production and in the past 6 years helped him produce and direct short films in a range of styles. His short film projects are among the most successful in Malta, having taken part in numerous festivals, markets and obtained various commercial distribution contracts. In 2010 Martin established and started running his own production company, Shadeena. Through Shadeena, Martin has produced dozens of audio-visual projects from adverts to corporate projects working with various teams for clients in Malta, Switzerland, Italy and the US and in the coming months, a TV series and multiple feature films will also enter production. This year, Shadeena has expanded into a company which handles digital projects and soon will also serve as an independent rental house.

Elaine is Head of Funding & Brokerage at Arts Council Malta where she acts as a general coordinator for the funding and investment portfolio of Arts Council Malta and coordinates the team of Creative Brokers and Fund Administrators. She oversees the comprehensive yearly planner for all funding programmes and facilitates participation in funding programmes and initiatives. Elaine coordinates regular client-centred information sessions and comprehensive support services. She is also the fund manager of KulturaTV, the Malta Arts Fund and the Cultural Partnership Agreements. Prior to that, Elaine was the Performing Arts Executive at Arts Council Malta handling the Performing Arts portfolio including theatre, dance and music. As an Arts Executive she worked on the implementation of the cultural policy, arts funding, brokerage services in the sector, training programmes for the performing arts and was also involved in the setting up of the national dance company ĹťfinMalta. As an Arts Executive, she actively represented the Council in international networks such as the network for performing arts, IETM.

Wouter Jansen is the head of programming at Go Short - International Short Film Festival Nijmegen (NL) since 2009. He has a master’s degree in Cultural policy and patronage. Three years ago he started the festival strategy and distribution company Some Shorts which specializes in visually powerful and daring short films and documentaries, mainly from the Netherlands. The films have received over 400 selections, more than 90 awards and were selected at festivals such as SXSW, Berlinale, Locarno, IDFA, San Sebastian and Visions du Réel.

Amsterdam-based Tünde Vollenbroek lives and breathes animation, 24FPS, 24/7. As co-founder of Studio Pupil she produces animated shorts, series, commercials and music videos, for off- and online platforms. As chief programmer at the KLIK! Amsterdam Animation Festival she curates thousands of animations a year and takes them on tours around the world. As chief European correspondent of animation’s #1 industry source Cartoon Brew she writes about the continent’s industry. Vollenbroek holds a master’s degree in Animation from the HKU in the Netherlands and is a graduate from the prestigious European co-production training Animation Sans Frontières. Productions set for a 2016 release are short films Tabook (to be shown throughout Dutch Pathé cinemas) and Scrambled (a Polder Animation co-production). Recently, one of the 11 participants selected for the Locarno Industry Academy 2015, representing Poland. Before joining the company Zofia worked in the National Film Archive in Poland in Digital Repository where she mainly was responsible for organizing film events, workshops and exhibitions. During her studies she was working at Krakow Film Festival and Off Camera Film Festival as a guest and event assistant. Marta Świątek – she was born in 1985, in Częstochowa, Poland. She graduated from the Inter-Faculty Individual Studies in the Humanities at the Jagiellonian University. In 2012 she joined Krakow Film Foundation team. Since 2015 she coordinates Polish Shorts and Polish Animations programmes, the aim of which is to promote Polish short fiction and animated films abroad. She also works for the Krakow Film Festival, where she is responsible for the Krakow Film Market and other Industry Zone events addressed at film industry professionals.

Vanessa Ventura was born in Paris on April 27th 1974, lives in Portugal and studied Anthropology – Cultural Studies. She a regular collaborator of the International Short Film Festival of Vila do Conde and she is a member of its selection board since 2015. She was part of the team that organised and promoted Ovarvideo film festival (in Portugal) in 2009 and 2010. She is the Vice-President of Casa da Animação – a cultural association dedicated to the promotion of animation and she works as curator and producer at Casa da Animação, since 2001 (for the Cinema Program of Porto 2001 European Capital of the Culture). She became manager at ANIMAIS – Portuguese Animation studio, in 2012, she has written two scripts for animation shorts for the studio and is presently a producer there.

Son of the film producer and distributor Jose Esteban Alenda, his career is linked to that of his brother César. Together they founded in 2005 the production company Solita Films, right after finishing the European Master in Audiovisual Management (MEGA) at the Media Business School. After breaking through as assistant to Dutch producer Kees Kasander in Peter Greenaway’s Tulse Luper Suitcases, he has written, directed and produced ten short films, achieving more than 150 international awards. He has been nominated twice for the Spanish Film Academy Goya Awards for best fiction short film in 2011 and 2012 with the short films el orden de las cosas and Matar a un niño. They won a Goya Award For best animated short film in 2009 with the film La Increíble Historia del Hombre sin Sombra. His films have been screened in such prestigious International festivals as Sitges, Seminci, Cannes, Gijón, Sao Paulo, Guadalajara, Montreal, Alcine, Palm Springs, Bermudas, Cinanima or Warsaw. On summer 2016 he will be shooting his first featureNot the End with the participation of TVE and Canal Sur TV.

Born in Zurich, Luc Walpoth starts working as a producer in 2003 in Paris on the short film “Old man’s Window” directed by Jack Wung. Following this first production, he works as an assistant producer, coordinator and production manager on short films, feature films and commercials, in France, Italy and Switzerland. In 2009, he co-founds Turbulence Films Sàrl, in Geneva, Switzerland and produces “8” by Acim Vasic, which was selected in “La Nouvelle Haine”, a special section of Cannes’ Short Film Corner in 2010. Since 2009, Luc has produced awarded short films and documentaries, which were both rewarded with audience and critical acclaim. Luc’s extensive experience as a writer-director and as cinematographer allows him to creatively tackle production and storytelling challenges both on set and in pre and post-production. Ohna Falby set up Life To Live Films in 2011 to produce independent short, art and feature films. Most recently she produced feature length FEED ME with Glaswegian artist Rachel Maclean (Screening Luxembourg on 3rd March!) and co-produced dance film VOICES OF FINANCE with Dutch director Clara Van Gool. She is now developing a feature project with Gaëlle Denis - whose short CROCODILE she produced in 2014 - premiered at Cannes Critic’s Week where it won the prix Canal+ for best short. The feature project is a UKFrench co-production and was selected at Cinemart at the beginning of last year and Torino’s Framework at the end of the year. She is also developing a feature project with Kyla Bruce and Gorana Jovanovic which grew from a short film project presented at Nisi Masa in 2015.

Daphnée Hocquard began her film career in distribution in Paris before completing the National Film and Television School’s producing MA in the UK. Since graduating, she has worked as an associate producer on a feature documentary, and has fulfilled various production roles. She runs Cotton Reel Entertainment with her producing partner, and has a slate of feature films in development. Her latest short, The Chop, is currently doing the festival circuit.

Gavin is a BAFTA nominated and Cannes winning producer having produced projects with Film4, the British Film Institute, Google, Tate Modern, the BBC and Channel 4. Emily Morgan is an in-house producer at UK/ Canadian distributor Soda Pictures where she is developing a diverse slate of narrative fiction, documentary and artist films, with partners across the world. She joined Soda in 2014 to work on “Invention”, setting up the project in Paris, Toronto and São Paulo. The feature premiered at the Toronto Film Festival 2015 and screened at the Berlinale. Previously, Emily worked at Studio Canal, Hot Property Films and as a freelancer for Steel Mill Pictures, The Bureau and Partizan. Emily’s feature credits include Andrew Haigh’s “Weekend”, Simon Pummell’s “Brand New-U” (Edinburgh 2015) and Grant Gee’s “Innocence of Memories” (Venice 2015). Emily has produced numerous short films, including “Physics” and “Tracks” by Claire Oakley, and “The Mass of Men” by Gabriel Gauchet, which went on to win Locarno’s Pardino de Oro and 74 other international awards at 150 festivals. She has Producing MA from the NFTS, a BA in Spanish and Portuguese and has participated in the Rotterdam Producers’ Lab, Cannes Producers’ Network and Berlinale Talents. She was featured as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2015.

Helen started her career as a Coordinator and Assistant Producer in factual entertainment, working on documentaries for broadcasters including Sky Living and Channel 4. In 2013 she began the MA Producing for Film & Television course at the National Film and Television School. While at the school, she produced several short films including horror short ‘Six Feet Under’ which won FrightFest’s Shortcuts to Hell competition in 2013, and comedy ‘About a Dog’. Her animated short ‘The Last Resort’ features the voice of Katherine Ryan and has screened in film festivals all over the world. After graduating, Helen joined Dan Films as an assistant to Producers Julie Baines and Jonathan Taylor. At the company she works with both producers across their slate in development and production, and continues to develop her own short and feature projects with writers and directors. Last year she produced comedy short “Rhonna & Donna” which was selected for Creative England’s iShorts “Funny Girls” scheme. She is currently producing period drama short “The Wyrd”.

Wim Vanacker Wim Vanacker was born in Izegem, Belgium. After studying psychology and filmstudies in Gent and Antwerpen, he moved to Dublin to work as a psychologist in the field of drug addiction. During this period he was employed as a film critic and a programmer for several filmfestivals. After which he moved to Paris and picked up studying again at EICAR, the International Film School of Paris where he made two shorts. Endgame, which got selected for 24 festivals and won 5 awards along the way, and The Naked leading the Blind, which got selected for 60 festivals thus far while winning 20 awards. After graduating, he discovered NISI MASA – European Network of Young Cinema and started off working as the project coordinator of the MEDIA funded project, European Short Pitch to finally become the Head of the Script Department. On the side, he also works as a script consultant, tutor and guest speaker for festivals such as Cannes, Clermont-Ferrand, Encounters and Interfilm. Recently, he founded Sireal Films, a Brussels based production company where he produced the VAF funded short film empire by Kristof Hoornaert. As a Writer / Director, he’s currently developing two short films, First Aid and Serial, both produced by the Paris based production company In Vivo Films.v

Jérôme Nunes Jérôme Nunes completed a Master’s Degree in American cinema in Aixen-Provence and studied for a PhD at the University of Nottingham where he taught literature and French cinema. In 2010 together with three associates, he created the art-house production company Films de Force Majeure. Based in Marseille, the company focuses on international coproductions (mostly animation and documentary, shorts and features). He is in charge of distribution. In 2015, the company received France Televisions Emerging Producer award. Since 2012, he has been working as a script consultant for various organisations: Generator (Strasbourg), le G.R.E.C. (South-East of France), Scriptwriting Summer Camp (Bulgaria). Since 2013, he has been running Pitch Please! a scriptwriting workshop as part of the Luxembourg City Film Festival. As an ESP alumnus, he directed the short film RELAPSE in 2013 (Cinébanlieue, Clermont-Ferrand…). That’s when he became an active member of Nisi Masa’s script department where he co-organises European Short Pitch and in particular the coproduction forum in Luxembourg. 32

Aleksandra Zakharchenko-Terris Aleksandra was born in Kiev, Ukraine. She had been working as a coordinator at numerous music and cinema festivals such as Noveaux Cinema Ukraine and Cinemascope. She had been also developing social and business projects in Ukraine with international NGOs JCI and Rotaract. After getting her Master degree in International economics, she had been working on elaboration of solar energy systems in Crimea and southern parts of Ukraine. In 2012 she moved to France to devote herself fully to the realm of cinema, working as a festival programmer in Nancy. In 2013 she has joined Nisi Masa’s team as European Short Pitch project coordinator. She’s been also writing for UK film platform, Film Debate, as a foreign film critic. She’s currently getting her second Master’s degree in Cultural Management.
