monthly magazine of NISI MASA
A New Era A magazine published and distributed by NISI MASA since its inception, Más y Más will now span beyond print and digital distribution and will include a series of debate meetings.
The Meetings Through the meetings we are associating to the magazine we are highlighting its educational role as a vehicle of communication of new ideas and concepts, as well as best practices in the audiovisual and the media at large. These are to be discussed in monthly meetings in Paris that will be freely accessible to the interested local audience (e.g. film students).
The initial content concept included information on the network’s activity, as well as articles on a selected theme, written by network members, Alumni or friends and professionals connected with NISI MASA. In its new era, Más y Más aims to encourage debate on hot topics in the audiovisual with the collaboration of experts and professionals and to reach young people across Europe.
The ideas discussed there will be incorporated in the magazine, with articles from other contributors. Más y Más will be subsequently distributed in print and digitally. Read on for a peek into what the new Más y Más is like!
When? 28th October 2013 - Presentation Putting together an issue of Más y Más is very representative of the work process followed for NISI MASA projects. The trajectory of a good idea can’t be stopped by cultural differences and geographical distance. This launch meeting will bring together the office team, organizing the Parisian events associated with Más y Más, and the editorial coordinator, joining in over Skype from Romania. Together they will wrap up the planning for the November and December issues of Más y Más. They will also use this opportunity to brainstorm ideas for the future issues of the magazine and the meetings which are to take place monthly in Paris.
14th November 2013 - Crowdfunding More than a buzzword or a trend, crowdfunding has been around for long enough for people to stop regarding it as a novelty. This does not mean that there are still not plenty of questions roaming around related to how exactly it works and what its future potential is. Through the magazine, as well as through a panel on the topic organized in Paris, Más y Más will try to bring to light the answers to such questions. It will also be exploring the skepticism which is very much still there in terms of the sustainability of this funding method, the types of projects funded and their value. The new Más y Más number prepared based on the new and improved recipe will go out on November 14th (date and location to be confirmed).
21st December 2013 - Creating Popular Events around Short Films For the December issue of Más y Más we are going to explore the potential of short films have to gather big and diverse audiences around an event. Since the distribution of short films is still not fully charted territory, we will be discussing whether such events represent a viable distribution option. We will also be discussing the implications such events have on the access of young film makers as professionals in the industry, as well as on issues like audiovisual education. The topic of Más y Más December was inspired by our collaboration with the short-film promotion event Le Jour Le Plus Court. The panel and launch event will take place on December 21 (location to be announced).
*Dates are provisional at time of publication and are subject to change.

The new era of Más y Más will continue with its main aim as an educational tool for young filmmakers and enthusiasts including articles, interviews and essays about different fields of the cinema industry and the audiovisual, as well as information and in focus articles about interesting events. What to expect? Le jour le plus court - 21st December Reaching its third edition in 2013, Le Jour Le Plus Court is an event which has grown from national to international scale. Their European outlook and their commitment to promoting the short film format matched those of NISI MASA, so we were thrilled to be approached to become the European partner for the event. But what is Le Jour Le Plus Court? Well, it's a day (21st of December) which happens to be the shortest of the year, so the organizers saw fit to dedicate it to promoting the short film format. Any sort of events related to this are welcome, the more and crazyer, the merrier. Of course, the main focus is on screening short films and raising awareness about the advantages of this format to a wider audience. Through a partnership with the network of French Institutes all over the world, Le Jour Le Plus Court is yearly extending its coverage, promoting the initiative outside of France. With 31 member associations in 28 European countries, NISI MASA is contributing to the promotion and expansion of the event. The event's website will make public the wide range of events organized to promote shorts, including those organized by the NISI MASA members. For more details on the event and how you can contribute, visit their website.
