Kaunas international Film Festival 2012
Lithuanian cinema may be a mystery to most of us, but not for long. We may have heard and seen the work of legendary Jonas Mekas, also known as “The Godfather of Avant-Garde Cinema”, but filmmaking in the small Baltic state as a lot more to offer. There is no better place to unravel the mystery then at the Kaunas international Film Festival, where we met Lithuanian director Dovilė Gasiūnaitė, to talk about her first feature Narcisus, one of the big surprises of this year’s edition of the festival; and we still had time to lose ourselves in Yorgos Lathimos new film Alps.

Ancient Greek myths have been a source of inspiration to many artists for almost two thousand years. Recently one of them has been revived in the first feature film of Lithuanian film maker Dovile Gasiunaite.
