The initial inspiration for my collection stemmed from fond memories and insights gained from my dissertation of how childhood experiences can influence creativity.

As a young girl, I was constantly raiding my grandmother’s wardrobe when I came across a dress my great aunt made and hand painted in the 1950’s.

This was the starting point for my oversized designs with the unique and personal print.

Experimenting with half-scale mannequins with different fabrics such as boiled wool helped my design process.

Toile process I want the wearer to feel like they are 6 years old again and that my clothes are a safety blanket against the outside world.

Final toile line-up.

Outfit 1 consists of a dropped waist dress made from scuba and my digitally printed silk with my great aunts hand-painted dress. It also includes a boiled wool oversized coat with a buggy lining, also in printed silk.

Outfit 2 consists of a scuba jumper with printed silk sleeves, a boiled wool cape, an oversized tank top with printed silk pockets and a scuba and cotton drill skirt.

Outfit 3 consists of a boiled wool cape with a buggy lining made from printed silk, an oversized dress made entirely from my digitally printed silk and a pair of cotton drill trousers. The dress has silk tabs at the side as to show the trousers underneath.

Outfit 4 consists of a scuba jumper dress with printed silk sleeves and a floor length boiled wool coat with a buggy lining.

Photoshoot for my first made outfit.

My collection consists of designs influenced by childhood memories of oversized clothes, taking inspiration from the colours and print patterns of a great aunt’s dress.

A live project set by Louis Vuitton with a brief of what we personally think luxury means. My view is that luxury is different for each individual person, I interviewed two people from completely different ends of the spectrum asking what luxury is for them.

A live project set by the company Hawes and Curtis with a chance for our designs to feature in their stores. I linked this project with my Extended Practice, using my great aunts print as a design detail. I wanted to bring the print up to date by lasercutting into the fabric.

A live project set by The T-shirt Store with a brief giving us a chance for our designs to appear in their Leeds store. I also linked this project with my Extended Practice by using the hand-painted print and creating individual prints.
