Students gain technical competence and develop new methods and techniques through diverse studio-based projects. Conceptual and theoretical exploration prepares students to add depth to their creative practice, expand the applications of their discipline and see the world from different perspectives.

This exciting partnership program with Richmond Art Gallery provides students with opportunities to build confidence, community, and a diverse and creative skill-set through hands-on, behind the scenes access with local and international artists, gallery professionals, and Emily Carr University instructors.

Communication Design — 1 year, full-time

Our full-time programs are intensive and focus on providing the creative and technical skills required to transition or enhance your career and enter industry job-ready.

Delivered in partnership with BCIT, the Communication Design Essentials Certificate is a one-year, full-time program that provides students with a solid foundation in visual communication principles and concepts, as well as the project management and technical skills demanded by industry. This career-focused program prepares graduates for a variety of roles in graphic design and related creative industries.

Our Interaction Design Certificate is a six-month, full-time program that merges user experience and visual communication principles and concepts. Students develop skills in web design, coding and motion graphics as they produce both web and mobile-based applications. Graduates exit the program with a professional-level portfolio and the skills demanded by the high-tech sector.

Junior Art Intensive (Ages 13-15)

Refunds or tuition waivers, minus an administrative charge of $35 per course, will only be given if notification of withdrawal is received seven or more calendar days prior to the start of the course date. Exceptions are only considered as they pertain to extenuating circumstances on an individual basis. In such cases, a written request for a refund, accompanied by appropriate documentation from a third party (e.g. subpoena), must be submitted. Our Interaction Design Certificate is a six-month, full-time program that merges user experience and visual communication principles and concepts. Students develop skills in web design, coding and motion graphics as they produce both web and mobile-based applications. Graduates exit the program with a professional-level portfolio and the skills demanded by the high-tech sector.

Junior Art Intensive (Ages 13-15)

Refunds or tuition waivers, minus an administrative charge of $35 per course, will only be given if notification of withdrawal is received seven or more calendar days prior to the start of the course date. Exceptions are only considered as they pertain to extenuating circumstances on an individual basis. In such cases, a written request for a refund, accompanied by appropriate documentation from a third party (e.g. subpoena), must be submitted. Students may withdraw from a course by phone, fax, or email. See our website ecuad.ca/cs-registration for more information.
