DRAWING PERSPECTIVE DRAWING FOR ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS This course is essential for artists, designers, illustrators and animators who wish to create convincing images of form, depth and space. This course introduces you to ideas in art making while examining the relationship of concept and composition in two-dimensional art practices. You will develop skills in composition by investigating how line, shape, colour, texture and surface treatment enhance and influence form. Exercises and experimentation with a variety of media allow you to explore aesthetics and meaning by applying the elements and principles of composition. Through illustrated lectures, demonstrations, discussions, observations and critiques you will learn to reference historical and contemporary theories and image sources as inspirations for art making. This course introduces you to the diversity of materials and media used in the contemporary visual arts to create three-dimensional objects and communicate ideas. Traditional and unconventional materials and processes are employed in exercises and projects as you gain an understanding of basic three-dimensional elements such as space, mass, volume, plane and texture. How these elements are affected and can be manipulated through choice of materials is explored and discussed as you advance your understanding of relationships between ideas, materials, media and context. It is taken for granted that photography has the unflinching ability to create faithful depictions of reality. The origins of the documentary form are seemingly most evident in cinema, however their presence in photography since the dawn of modernism is undeniable. The elements of the documentary form are evolving constantly, and the space between fiction and reality is what separates a strictly observational mode from a more intuitive and expressive mode. This course will offer you a chance to explore how direct observation, choice of subject and other more intuitive and creative photographic approaches can alter the predictable path of reality. Prerequisite Foundation in photographic principles and practical knowledge your own camera; experience producing photographs in a working environment or academic setting is recommended
