Recently, I’ve really been enjoying getting back to the roots of my personal style and discovering what I really like and don’t like. And it seems I’m not the only one. Fellow bloggers and vloggers alike are constantly switching their style up and are increasingly headed in a more simplistic style of dressing - both in their personal style and their lives. Alongside minimal scandi-style interiors, the odd healthy brunch of avocado on toast and a collection of Nike trainers that even your mum would be proud of, the bloggershpere seems to be an eternal advertisement for the clean-cut European style of living, and I’m certainly not complaining! Even though personally I think that the best way to do it is by kitting yourself out in nude and monochromatic basics, adding in the odd Parisian stripe and teaming your black ripped skinnies with anything, I thought I’d curate three top tips for a cleaner style.

1. Organisation is key

Keep things simple and organised in your closet; I always do this by colour and type (e.g. black crop tops, tees, shirts, jumpers). I always find that this makes both shopping and dressing so much easier, as by having everything neatly organized you can see what you’re missing, what you still need and what you really like to buy (Monica from Friends much?). Focus on the key shapes and cuts that you enjoy wearing when buying - and don’t be afraid to get that v-neck you wear to death in every colour and shade imaginable.

2. all about the basics

Shopping around for your favourite pieces in basic colours such as black, white and also nude is a great way to restart your wardrobe. Shops such as Zara, H&M and Topshop offer great basics in a variety of colours and for great prices. Alternatively, American Apparel is also one of my favourite places to spend on basics that will last a lifetime (slightly more pricey though)! I also love to add a combination of striped bits into my wardrobe, mainly because they’re so timeless and will literally survive any season! If you feel like adding some different textures, leather trousers are great year-round as they always add that little something on a night out when its a little warmer, and thinner alternatives to knits such as a sheer crop top or crochet knit are always great for spring.

3. just Dump it!

Search through your wardrobe, and be honest and blunt with yourself. Chuck out anything that hasn’t been worn in the past 6-12 months and if it’s in good condition you could even do a clothes swap night with girlfriends or donate to a good cause! You could also done what I did and sold a hella lot of stuff over on eBay! This will leave you with tonnes of room to add to your wardrobe and really allow you to start building a collection of items that you love and wear on a regular basis.

Even someone like myself who is a complete hoarder of monochrome pieces can’t help but crave a colour injection when Spring hits. By mixing these pops of colour alongside some of your classic denim Spring/ Summer basics you’ll be sure to create a playful and current outfit. Try adding a pair of dungarees to your wardobe for that classic nineties feel, team with a classic breton tee and some Birks and you’re good to go! P.s, keep an eye out for Kånken Fjallraven backpacks this season, they’re going to be your next colour-blocking staple!

thebloggersphere It’s pretty hard to keep tabs on all of our favourite bloggers these days. I don’t know about you, but I follow so many different kinds that it’s becoming a problem just to decide whether I should choose bacon or brie to top off my healthy avocado salad. I probably will end up choosing both, but that’s beside the point...Here’s a little collection of the blogs that seem to conquer everything from style to beauty with a little bit of food and lifestyle thrown into the mix.

beautycrush As one of my all-time favourite blogs, I don’t think that I could ever not include The Beautycrush in this feature. Over my years of following bloggers and vloggers of the YouTube community, the growth of Sammi Maria (founder and content creator) has been my favourite to see of all. Carrying her own unique rockermeets-chic look and combining feminine pieces with the more edgy vibes of her tattoos, her personal style is never too far from what every blogger needs and wants. Sammi lives in London with her so-unbelievably-cute-that-it-hurts pups; a Frenchie named Riley and an English Bulldog named Franklin, as well as her current boyfriend.

Her personal style as well as her day-to-day lifestyle is completely enviable, and yet she still seems like a completely normal down-to-earth girl in her weekly Vlogs. She is currently in the process of releasing her first collection for her own clothing brand, Novem and Knight, alongside her boyfriend Jason Davis (also on Youtube). Chunky boots, distressed denims, clashing monochromatic prints and lepoard printed accessories are the elements which give her the edge that she has, and also make her a huge style crush...as well as the fact that her dogs are unbelievably cute of course! Alongside her fashion finds, Sammi also shares frequent beauty picks, segments on health anf fitness and also shares the best hidden gems in London when you’re looking for something deliciously healthy to eat.

idressmyselff IDressMyselff is made up of a blog and Youtube channel based around fashion and conducted by the lovely Yanin Namasonthi. Holding several tags among the blogging world including IDressMyselff and also PrettySickly, this lady seriously knows how to dress. And when I say seriously, I mean seriously. Her laid-back effortless-chic style channels some serious European and Scandi vibes, while her accessories all channel a more grungy edge. The mix of urban and minimal in her outfits, as well as her eye for colour combinations and also her addictive personality, all contribute to Yanin’s success in the blogging world. Describing herself as ‘just a blogger who likes to record her life in multiple ways’ I can tell you - her blog and Youtube channel are both lightyears away from just that. Her videos and lookbooks are absolutely encapsulating and if I had to pick one wardrobe to raid, it would definitely be hers. She also happens to own an incredibly adorable French Bulldog (anyone noticed the competely unintentional dog theme yet? No? We’ll carry on then) and also breathes a confidence and selfknowledge which, at the same young age as myself, I only wish that I carried too. Her channel is massively understated and can sometimes get lost in the bigger blogging world, so I would definitely recommend checking her out if you haven’t already. Trust me, while it might lead to a completely unnecessary and expensive ASOS order, or craving the amount of utter coolness which this girl owns (I get -100 cool points for saying ‘coolness’, don’t I?), it’s totally worth it. P.s, you also really do need those 5 pairs of Nike trainers sitting in your shopping basket.

Estee Lalonde (or Essiebutton as she’s known on the interwebs) is a Canadian blogger living in London with her boyfriend Aslan and adorable Greyhound Reggie. A beauty blogger at heart, Estee seamlessly connects her Youtube channel and blogger lifestyle through offering her viewers a mix of monthly favourites, makeup looks, and all-time favourite repurchases. As well as offering structured and reliable content, she also vlogs her days away over on her second channel (essiebuttonvlogs) and I warn you now, it might at first seem just like another vlogger doing normal vloggy things but after a while...you’re hooked! Her ecstatic personality and warm sense of humour are what makes Estee such a successful blogger. The way that you can instantly connect with a post, a video, a thought or even something which she simply touches on in a blog post is what makes this beauty babe like the best friend of the blogging world. As well as beauty, theres often the odd outfit post on her blog, or more often a haul or lookbook on her Youtube channel. I also love her Buttons Bookshelf series whereby she rates recent reads, whether it be the latest crime thriller or a girl-power feminist pageturner. Her foodie posts and recipes are always amazing and fabulously healthy too, and match her energetic persona perfectly - meaning that we can all be buttons together!

Ecru is also a gorgeous alternative to white, offering a more rugged and laid-back vibe to any outfit. I’m loving these shades for Spring, especially since the sun has finally decided to make an appearance! This lipstick is Mac’s Toxic Tale, and I love it! It’s a gorgeous coral-pink colour with a hint of red and is really buildable with a semi-sheen finish. I think its a great shade to pop on for Spring and the transition into summer, and looks fab as part of a more dewy makeup look. A creme blush is also a lovely alternative for Spring, and this one (below) is in the shade Secret Admirer and is also from Mac. As I’ve never owned a creme blush before it was something completely new for me. After experimenting with putting it on, I’ve discovered that you really don’t need a lot to achieve a nice Spring-y effect! It’s extremely similar to the lipstick shade however much more buildable, so the two make a gorgeous duo when the blush is used in moderation! I love applying this directly just above my cheekbone and a little onto the apples of my cheeks to keep the look more natural, and do so with my fingers just to gain a little more control over the application. You could also apply this to the lips as a lighter consistency in comparison to the lipstick! I love the idea of having a new Spring duo, and I’ve found that as Spring is quickly rolling round I really want to experiment more with beauty and makeup. A more dewy foundation is quickly making it’s way up to the top of my wishlist, and more colourful lip shades just like this one in the form of pinks and nudes are definitely something which I want to pick up more often!
