Welcome page This is a one off edition of Hip-Hop days. The aim of this project is: To try remove the negative stigma built around the Hip-Hop genre, caused by American media. It gives a personal insight to the artists lives, so people can understand that; the tone of their music, and what happens on stage isn’t always a representation of what happens at home. The artists I have worked with let me into their personal lives to show the different sides of Hip-Hop and I am very grateful for this. Special thank you to: Twizzy, Jinxsta and Stig for taking time out of your days to make this project happen.

a day in the life

On the 24th April 2015 I met up with Stig of the Dump in East London to shoot a day in his life; originally I wanted to shoot places that are important to Stig, but because he is from Newcastle, the inspirational/ important places are all up there so we decided to shoot a day in the life. To begin, we went for lunch in his favourite Turkish food restaurant on the high street he lives on.

The photographs of the interiors are Stig's home; I wanted to show a personal insight to his life with these photographs. Stig also introduced me to his manager Mike Lewis (featured in the image to the left) at their office in Angel. Mike used to photograph Hip-Hop artists in the early 90's and has some photographs featured in BRICK magazine - one of my inspirations for this book. It was great to meet Stig's manager as I got an insight as to what goes on before an album release and the office was full of Hip-Hop and Star Wars items (two of my favourite things).

Stig is releasing a new album called Kubrick and invited me to shoot the behind the scenes photography of the single 'Kubrick'. The video is all different scenes from Stanley Kubrick films recreated with Stig and Jehst. Being on set was such a contrast to Stig's everyday life and I hope this shows through my images. It was such a good video to work on and I'm very grateful to be a part of this project.
