01 TRAIL “regional ridge trail” location: Lock Haven, PA professional: BSA/LA employer: Brian Auman team: Ben Mayer currently in planning/building stages “Regional Ridge Trail” is a 40 mile trail segmented into seven unique fabrics. My involvement in the team included helping measure 16 bridges in the walk of the first 7 mile segment, documenting the trailhead locations and layouts, and providing design representation for the trailheads, context map, and icons for the trail shown here.

“Water Dynamics” focuses on the issue of flood control within an existing community area in order to make flood events celebratory of new and exciting landscapes instead of disasters. By utilizing landform to delineate residential and recreational programs at the 20, 50, and 100 year flood lines an active community can be both fully immersed in the functions of an ecologic Existing Vegetation corridor and participate in land and water The vegetation shown in the sections exemplifies recreational programs. 03 PARK “bioretention park” location: Spring Creek Canyon, PA semester: Fall 2013 faculty: C. Timothy Baird & Timothy Murtha individual project

“Bioretention Park” is located in an abandoned fish hatchery along Spring Creek. This design seeks to both educate users about future contaminated flood problems and remedy actual flood events. People can control water coming into the park through an interactive water barrier and watch as the natural processes accommodate flooding. By creating shelfs of riparian, mesic, and ridge species, the park can retain and filter future contaminated floods above the level of the barrier.

04 URBAN “philadelphia redesign” location: Philadelphia, PA semester: Fall 2014 faculty: Bryan Hanes team: Lillian Luu & Qin Fang phase 2: Masterplan

Phase 2 of the “Philadelphia Redesign” seeks to bring back the ideals of William Penn’s Greene Country Towne by focusing on his four main goals to increase the wholesomeness of the city. Greene Country Towne Redux utilizes these same ideals while incorporating them into a contemporary urban atmosphere.

04 URBAN “philadelphia redesign location: Philadelphia, PA semester: Fall 2014 faculty: Brian Hanes individual project phase 3: Site Specific

Expanding on the idea of wholesomeness and what that means for the city, this design originally focused on a wholesome body, mind, and spirit. Through the design process, this space transformed into reinterpreting the meaning into the connection of art (surrealism, suprematism, and abstract expressionism) to the body, mind, and spirit and the city itself.

This shows people inside the garden gathering plants. People can easily identify the plants’ uses because of the formalized planting in the center of the garden.

View coming in from the fields show people enjoying the dense garden forms and edibles as they gather ingredients to make teas and jams.

06 COMPETITION “spark park” location: Yaroslavl, Russia competition: Social Revolution advisor: C. Timothy Baird team: Jeffrey Holzer Second Place - Popular Vote

“Spark Park” seeks to find design solutions to the dark spaces underneath the Tolbuhinsky Bridge in Yaroslavl, Russia. By adding a “spark” of light, the space becomes a socially creative park through interactive light installations both above and below the bridge.
