a new way of thinking Some of us are more able to develop this sense of hearing than others, but that doesn’t mean that we should only be offered two types of sound quality – one for professionals and one for everyone else. Our solution has been to manufacture professional products at a price that makes them available to everyone, not just the thousands of professionals who use them! And you don’t have to take our word for it. Test out our commitment by testing our products. Firstly, who are we? We’re a French company and our aim is to positively engage with globalisation. We are proud to have chosen second-to-none manufacturers who currently supply quality electronic components at exceptional value. We also have no hesitation in saying that these manufacturers are Asian. And to top it all, our partners in Asia also manufacture many of the bestselling brand name products on the market. By combining the savoir-faire of French engineers with the most efficient Asian factories in the business, we have managed to create:

A range of quality products that are going hand in hand with the finest in the market but at unbeatable prices. Our research and development is carried out in France with regular input from Ludovic Lanen, who checks out how our prototypes perform in situ. When given the seal of approval, our products then go on to become professional tools that can rise to any occasion. All Prodipe products are used on the biggest stages or in the biggest studios.

And to reach such a high standard of quality for such a low price we have had to adopt some very particular methods: The moulds used for our products are fully depreciated moulds where possible – this keeps production costs down. Our development has been based entirely on the quality of the main components, whether it be the electronic components, the parts used on all our products or the cartridges for our mics. This trick of the trade is one of the reasons behind our unbeatable quality at unbeatable prices. Cutting out the middleman means that we can purchase our components directly from the manufacturer; that’s why we can offer an equivalent quality at lower prices. We also have our own distribution channels, reducing time to market costs by at least 30%. So we focus our efforts on eliminating unnecessary spending without impacting on the core elements of the Prodipe product. Since the advent of global marketing and the increased flow of savoir-faire, a highly priced product is no longer a guarantee of high quality. We’re not trying to criticise the big names in the market, but invariably, a top of the range product is outside most people’s budgets. Money brings choice, but if you have limited means, our products represent unparalleled value. And please don’t be tempted to compare our products with lower priced brand name lines or cheap alternatives. When you compare a Prodipe product, compare it with the best the market has to offer and we know you’ll want to switch to Prodipe.

With prodipe, you’re paying for the quality, not the brand.

Why are Ludovic Lanen and Claude Salmiéri so involved in the Prodipe adventure? Being able to play a part in the creation of professional products that are practically identical in quality to the big name brands, but at affordable prices, has been a real challenge for us. With prodipe the gamble has paid off. When a manufacturer is able to offer such high quality at prices that have never been equaled for this level of professionalism, then we’re right behind them. We’ve been in this business for more than thirty years now and we respect it so much that we would never put our names to products that can’t provide the quality we want. And you don’t have to take our word for it. Just compare the products for yourselves and you’ll understand what attracted us to Prodipe in the first place. Prodipe make products that are up there with the top names we use in our everyday work.

When you’ve tested their products against the best, this just leaves you with one choice to make…the bright choice!

Pro5 V3 / Pro8 V3 THE LEGENDARY RANGE OF MONITORS GETS A FACELIFT Our Pro5, Pro8 and Pro10S speakers are in constant evolution, and it gives us great pleasure to present our all new version 3: new fibreglass cone woofers, new neodymium dome tweeters and new electronics for extra performance, dynamism and presence.

NEW • The woofer cones are now in fibreglass. Using fibreglass in all our speaker systems means that we have been able to increase performance and dynamism, the frequency response is more linear and the quality of the listening is wonderfully natural. • The transducer magnets are shielded by anodised steel covers. • The active filtering has been completely overhauled to ensure that the crossover frequency doesn’t suffer from any accidents or bumps. • The casing is made of high density wood to give the sound a high level

of consistency and to eliminate any unwanted vibration. • Unlike many of the other manufacturers, we made the decision to put the bass reflex port at the front of the monitors to improve the decompression on the bass response. This makes it much easier to find the best position for each speaker. • There are ample connectors for an all-round use: XLR/TRS 6.35 Jack for a balanced connection, and Cinch (RCA) for an unbalanced connection. • A compact, elegant design with a wellfinished exterior.

The PRODIPE Pro8 V3 active studio monitors offer superb frequency linearity and incredible clarity at a truly unbeatable price. As far as I'm concerned, Prodipe is the best brand on the market. The Pro5 and Pro8 studio monitors easily do the same job as any other brand, except that other brands can cost over 1,000 euros.

After loads of tests and comparisons, the Prodipe mics, especially the ribbon mics, bring warmth and fidelity, making it easy to quickly and accurately place the sound in a mix. Take my word for it and give PRODIPE a try.

It is perfect for singers who want the highest standards, as well as conference speakers, presenters and entertainers who want a true reproduction of their voice. And you shouldn't let the price influence you, nor compare it to a low quality mic! Even though the price is exceptionally low, this new mic offers an identical quality to many professional mics that I have used on the big stage. The reason we are where we are today is because on my last visit to China I tested, compared and assessed the performance of more than a hundred cartridges alongside the engineers from the state of the art factory that we work with. This close partnership enabled me to develop the completely new TT1 and I can absolutely guarantee its performance. Prices really don't mean anything anymore; of the hundred cartridges that I was offered to look at, many of the more expensive were not as good or as efficient as the one I selected and prepared for you. For the last 30 years I have always put more trust in my ears than in the price and with this new product I can once again offer you excellence at a never before seen price. Recently I had the chance to try out PRODIPE's range and I was pleasantly surprised by the accurate sound reproduction. Even better, the mics are great looking, solid and they feel really good. The value for money is excellent as well. I can't speak highly enough of these mics - quality products available to a maximum number of people and nothing to fear from the bigger brands. Jean-Luc Escriva Writer-Composer-Interpreter - France Met with Stevie Wonder in Paris. His first album was made with Larry Gittens (Stevie Wonder's tumpet player), Claude Salmiéri, Manu Katche, Bernard Paganotti, Michel Gaucher, Bernard Arcadio, André Ceccarelli and Stevie Wonder himself on the harmonica. Singer and choral director for Wonderlove (Stevie Wonder's band), Kool and the Gang, Vanessa Paradis, Richard Gotainer and Henri Salvador. Creator/producer of radio jingles and advert music

I've been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to test Prodipe's STC-3D mic on various instruments in a recording studio-type environment. What hit me most was the quality of the sound from the percussion instruments. For years I've been working with multi-instrument percussionists, and the STC-3D is a real bonus for today's sound engineers. Recording percussion instruments is far from being straightforward. It's common practice to change the mic setup nearly every time the musician shifts from one instrument to another. Whether it's the tabla or the darbuka, the riq, daf, cajon, rainmaker or egg shaker, the sound from the STC-3D is always accurate, the drumbeats are dynamic and the mic adapts to the specific frequency range for each instrument. And this level of performance is possible because of the STC-3D's versatility: it has a low cut filter switch, a -10dB pad switch and three choices of direction (uni/omni/bidirectional). So it was no surprise to me at all when this excellent quality was maintained for previously recorded vocals, electric guitar amp recordings, and live recording of acoustic guitars, acoustic pianos and stringed instruments. And if you add another STC-3D for room ambience and a Duo A1 for overhead miking, you'll really get why Prodipe have established themselves as the least expensive of the major brands. Boris Clément Sève Violonist – Singer - Producer - Director - France At the first beginning his challenge takes place in Montreal Canada where Boris-Clément collaborates with French artists as writter and musician.

After testing Prodipe's mics on stage, I've been bowled over by their quality and subtlety.

Francis Cabrel used an MC1 during the whole of his In Extremis tour.

When we decided to make the MC1, I wanted a mic with a neutral response, rather than the usual affair with a presence bump on the frequency chart that’s great for certain voices, but makes others sound way too hard, like when I listen to my favourite singer. I went for the type of response you get with a condenser mic, but without the unpleasant hissing noise that plagues condenser mics. I needed a mic that was low on near field and not too tight on directivity, allowing the singer some freedom of movement, almost as if they were in a studio. LUDOVIC LANEN

Prodipe monitors and microphones give me the sound I have been looking for. In my studio I use the Prodipe Monitoring pack (The PRODIPE Pro10 and the ProRibbon8s/ ProRibbon5s). This system allows me to monitor at low volumes without suffering from ear fatigue, and create the mixes I need. As Technology Co-ordinator of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), I use the same monitoring system and mics (Ludovic Lanen STC3D Studio Microphone, Ribbon 1 Ludovic Lanen; and the TT1 Ludovic Lanen microphone). At the Conservatory we record everything from solo performances to full orchestras and our Prodipe mics are part of the tools we use to consistently deliver quality recordings. I love the sound that I get for live situations using the TT1; this is one great dynamic mic. For recording that sweet, smooth vocal sound I always reach for the Ribbon 1 Ludovic Lanen first.

After learning about Prodipe from performers and producers at Omega studios, I really wanted to have a go at the Ludovic Lanen STC-3D mic and the A1 mic. I was especially surprised by the level of quality for the price. Each mic replicates the warmth of the source, which is rare for this type of mic. Usually they sound too cold and tinny. In all honesty, at the moment, these mics are the best value for money, and they're already rubbing shoulders with our top of the range equipment. Fabrice LEYNI Sound engineer Studio Oméga - France As a sound engineer, he has worked with NTM, Pleymo, Emma Daumas, Florent Pagny, Prohom, Silmarils, Yvan Cassar 'A Species Odyssey', Lord Kossity, Disiz La Peste, Mickael Youn, La RudaSalska, Akhenaton, La Tordue, Yamakasi, Cécilia Cara and Pierpoljak..

Performers

have their say I first learned about Prodipe when I was working with Claude Salmiéri. Ever since then I'm always using at least one of their products on stage or in the studio. My home studio includes the superb Pro 8 monitors and an STC-3D mic for vocals. On stage I've opted for an authentic acoustic guitar sound with the Prodipe A1 mic. Quality like that on a tight budget is definitely going to up the creativity levels Michel DESHAYS Five albums and numerous collaborations as a writer and composer (Michael Jones, Beverly Jo Scott, David Koven, Pierre Vassiliu, Eva Marchal and ELA). R.S.L. LANEN: double ribbon stereo microphone Ribbon 1: ribbon microphone WITH THE NOW AFFORDABLE PRICE OF THE RIBBON STEREO LANEN AND LUDOVIC LANEN RIBBON 1, YOU WILL FINALLY BE ABLE TO REDISCOVER: • The warm and natural sounds of the 50s and 60s (jazz, rock and roll, and early pop). • The speed of response obtained from the lightweight nature of a ribbon that comprises 2.8 micron width aluminum. • A respect for the timbre of each instrument and a very natural reproduction of their respective sounds. • An ability to manage very high sound levels (for example, guitar amplifier at full blast). • High-pitched sounds that are never aggressive (brass, metal percussion), even if the pickup is close.

• Figure-of-eight directivity, so you can capture the atmosphere of the room from behind and almost completely isolate any sources that are on either side of the mic. • In particular, the ribbon mic demonstrates its qualities when recording: Electric guitar amps, Drum kit overheads, Percussion instruments, Brass and woodwind, Horn sections, Acoustic piano, Acoustic guitar, Stringed instruments (solo), String sections, Choirs and orchestras, Voice.

I had the pleasure of testing Prodipe’s stereo ribbon mic (Ludovic Lanen RSL). The ‘Y’ lead is supplied, which helps make the wiring amazingly simple. I enjoyed an extremely warm sound with crisp, non-aggressive highs and a vintage feel that would take your breath away. It’s also very pleasant when listening to certain vintage style acoustic sounds. UHF SERIES 100 By opting for the TT1 diaphragm in Prodipe’s UHF100 mics, my aim was to give you a superb sounding UHF mic with a well balanced performance and an automatic scan that uses infrared to search for 100 available frequencies. This optimises the sound quality and improves reception, making the UHF100 series suitable for any type of environment or situation. I spent a lot of time balancing the timbre and removing modulation noise. Unfortunately there are plenty of products on the market that suffer from modulation noise, and these products are of no value whatsoever to professionals.

TT100

SOLO UHF

So what is modulation noise? It’s a hissing sound which is superimposed on your voice when you sing or talk. The TT1 Solo ticks all the boxes for professional use. I’m one of those engineers who doesn’t compromise on quality and I hold my profession in such high esteem that I would never put my name to a product that cannot live up to my expectations. At Prodipe we’re not in the business of criticising the brand names, but brand prices are often beyond the reach of many people. There’s a huge choice of equipment for those who can afford it, but if your budget is a little more modest,

TT100 SOLO & DUO UHF Our UHF100 is a brand new range of mics which can be used anywhere, anytime. They are fitted with the capsule from the TT1, giving them a superb sound, superb balance and superb reception. We paid particular attention to achieving a better timbre balance and removing modulation noise. This noise issue is associated with many brands on the market and makes the mics unfit for professional recording. The TT100 UHF has been designed for all types of professional use.

I really appreciate the clarity of the TT100 UHF DUO mics, for both the saxophone and the flute. Setting up is very straightforward and the separate gain control for each mic makes the duo completely suited to live work. As I also video concerts and public shows, I placed the mics 10 metres away from my camcorder so that I could dub the recording. I had no problems at all with the pick-up, and after synchronising the sound and image on my editing software, I was able to mix the live sound with the sound from the desk. All in all, the flexibility is excellent and the value for money is excellent too.″ JEAN-CHARLES AGOU Musician - Composer - Video maker • France

Prodipe and their R&D team have set themselves a goal: to create a proximity mic that attaches to instruments like the saxophone, trumpet and trombone, but also to percussion instruments, and at a price which is affordable, at last.

Patrick Bourgoin Saxophonist – Flautist • France Patrick participated in numerous recordings and accompanied on the largest scenes internationnal of famous artists among which , Supertramp , Ray Charles , Elton John, Duran Duran, and of course Johnny Hallyday, Eddy Mitchell, Michel Berger, Daniel Balavoine, Francis Cabrel, and many others...

I really enjoyed my experience with Prodipe. They use their know-how to systematically push the boundaries, but even more than that, they have the means to achieve their ambitions and the evidence is there for all to see. They just keep moving forward. It's a Prodipe mic for me from now on. Thanks Prodipe. Excellent, exemplary and accessible.

Performers

have their say

For many years I've been using a whole range of clip-on mics for trumpet and bugle, but I've never been entirely satisfied with the result. Finally, and it's thanks to my friend Louis Atzori, the drummer, I've found what I'm looking for in the Prodipe Lanen SB21. I've fallen in love with the quality and consistency of the sound, which is as pure as its source. And the SB21 softens the noise from the valves much better than any other mic. I'm impressed with the fantastic sound and I've been recommending it to all my colleagues professionals and non-professionals alike. I can hear the notes as they really are. No more distortion. Many thanks to the Prodipe technicians for designing this superb mic.

The SB21 Lanen Sax & Brass has been designed for alto saxophones, tenor saxophones, trumpets, trombones, tubas, French horns et all other brass instruments. We have perfected an electret capsule that can take up to 140dB. At that level of performance the capsule will preserve the full harmonic envelope, which adds warmth to the sound of your instrument. We paid a lot of attention to how the mic should be attached to the instrument. We looked at existing mics, talked to musicians and put all the good ideas together. We then created a mic stem consisting of a fixed component and a flexible component. This offers greater adjustability and stability. The suspension system reduces the noise from the keys, and the clamp has been specially adapted for a tight fit to the bell of the instrument.

I've been using Prodipe equipment for several years now because I know how much attention they pay to the manufacturing side. After testing the new SB21 instrument mic, I decided to have one of my own. It gives me the natural sound of my instrument; it gives me a capsule that can handle the high pressure levels associated with the trumpet and it gives me an ingenious clamp that is very effective for positioning the mic.

& UKULELE

The GL21 Lanen Acoustic guitar & Ukulele has been designed for guitars, ukuleles, mandolins and banjos. We have perfected an electret capsule (See page 37) that can take up to 140dB. At that level of performance the capsule will preserve the full harmonic envelope, which adds warmth to the sound of your instrument. For the clamp, we chose to develop two sizes of clip, rather than one single adaptable clip: • The first type is for guitars with a thick soundboard or internally strengthened near the sound hole, • The second clip is smaller and curved in shape - the mic can be positioned on guitars or ukuleles whose soundboard ribs are near the sound hole towards the neck side. As well as the simple mechanics of the thing, (and if you’ve ever lost a tiny screw on a small dark stage, you’ll know what I’m saying), both clips are designed to keep your instrument safe from damage. (See page …).

THE TOP FEATURES OF THE GL21 LANEN ACOUSTIC GUITAR & UKULELE • Excellent natural sound. • Very high acceptable sound pressure level (140 dB). • UHF compatible (with Prodipe UHF Series 21 - sold separately). • Quick and easy mounting. • Lightweight rubber clamp specific to the instrument. • Very high level of protection from instrument vibration. • Mini XLR to XLR connector adaptor ensures that the mic lead is properly positioned on your instrument (48V phantom power supply required for wired connection).

Violins and violas come in various sizes, so they need a fully adaptable mounting system, hence our decision to develop two flexible clamps. We have chosen to use a omnidirectional capsule for several reasons: cardioid capsules and their mounting can cause problems for musicians. They are also aesthetically nicer (especially in photos/videos). Our capsule is as close as possible to the sound source, just beneath the strings, tight against the soundboard, ensuring that the recording is richer in harmonics and more dynamic.

The most important thing for me is the sound of my cello. Ludovic Lanen asked me to help test the Prodipe capsule mic and its clamp. On the clamp side, the rubber grip is easy to attach and the mic adapts perfectly to the cello. I’m backing Prodipe. There's no doubt about it. The Lanen BL21 has moved to the top of my list. What a wonderful sound quality for my double bass and what an excellent price!

Jean-Philippe VIRET Musician - Double bassist - Composer • France Has played alongside lots of musicians of his day (Emmanuel Bex, Simon Goubert, Marc Ducret) as well as the 'old masters' (René Urtreger, Georges Arvanitas, Michel Graillier) and soloists from abroad (Lee Konnitz, Bill Carrothers, Dave Liebmann, Kenny Wheeler, Youn Sun na). Played in Stéphane Grappelli's trio from 1989 to 1997. 1998 saw the first of the Viret Trio concerts. The trio have recorded 7 albums and given concerts in France and around the world e.g. New York, Montreal, Japan, China and South Korea. The trio were awarded the Victoires de la Musique award for best instrumental ensemble in 2011. The seventh album, 'l'ineffable', was released in January 2015.

With Prodipe’s brand new BL21 double bass mic, the sound of my double bass is rendered as acoustically as possible, both with the bow and pizzicato. The mic is so easy to attach, and I have complete freedom of movement when I play, either live or in the studio. It strikes me that plenty of my fellow double bassists should use the BL21 – it’s excellent value for money. When it’s connected to Prodipe’s CAB100 or 200 speakers, the amplification is close to HiFi quality, the sound is sufficiently powerful and the system adapts to any context Olivier BOUISSE Double bassist • France Lots of jazz experience and influences playing with the Pacific Jazz Quartet (tribute to Gerry Mulligan), duos, trios (Up-Close with Lizzie Gayle), but also theatrical improvisation, music from the Balkans with Air d'Est and Diva Roza, and a coming together with the cellist, Matthieu Fontana, who created the Ebène quartet and founded Cordes et Âmes, an independent music label. When I choose a mic, the most important aspect for me is obviously the sound quality. Next is the mounting. CARDIOID

Gérard Prévost had his first taste of rock with Chaussettes Noires, and of jazz with Miles Davis. He then made the natural progression to jazz-rock fusion in the 1970s (ZAO, Transit Express, David Rose, etc.). Accompanying a number of singer-songwriters, such as Les Enfants Terribles, Maxime Le Forestier and Yves Simon, gave him the opportunity to meet Coluchee and found Le Grand Orchestre du Splendid. In the 1980s he became director and arranger for Renaud, Odeurs, Bijou, and finally, the Gipsy Kings, with whom he worked for 14 years. In 2002 he returned to the jazz scene, starting a trio with Stéphane Guéry (guitarist), who introduced him to Arbon. And the journey continues with studio and live work. He was involved in the recording of two of Arbon's albums and the subsequent tours, Etre et avoir été, in 2005, and Il pleut au Paradis, in 2007.

SalmiEri I've been involved with Prodipe products since the very beginning. Fifteen years ago, Jean-Luc Masson approached Ludovic Lanen and myself to see if we would be interested in using our skills and experience in the design of pro audio equipment: mine as a musician on stage and in the studio, and Ludovic's as a sound engineer. There's no secret about the fact that Prodipe have the same factories manufacturing their products as the bigger brands, and I can confirm this from my regular visits to the plants in China. Prodipe's genius has been their ability to lower prices and do away with as many of the middlemen as possible. Right from the start, Prodipe have always done what they said they were going to do: offer the highest quality at exceptional prices. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Prodipe adventure and I'm in it for the long haul. Claude SalmiĂŠri

DR8 SALMIERI/ DRM-KD • DRM-KD : 1 new generation bass drum mic. The look and feel of this mic will bring back fond memories for sound engineers of a certain age. But more than the look, it’s the quality of the sound that has improved: full, warm and precise. Unlike a number of today’s mics and their artificially scooped frequency response, the DRM 8 BD restores the complete sound of the bass drum, so all the engineer has left to do is choose the amount of equalization that fits the musical style and arrangement. • DRM-C : 4 unidirectional dynamic mics for toms and snare drums. These mics offer ultra versatility, so they perform well with other percussion instruments such as congas and bongos. What we’ve given you is the compact version of the TT1 instrument mic with its wide frequency range and extensive dynamic capabilities. • DRM-OV : 3 overhead mics (condenser mics). These mics perfectly capture the different moods created by drum kits and percussion instruments, and they are ideally suited for the Charleston drum. We wanted them to achieve excellent highs and they are particularly good at rendering the harmonic richness of cymbals. They also produce a stereo image which is wide and defined.

When a manufacturer is able to offer this quality with prices unequalled at this level of professionalism, I have to say, “Yes to Prodipe!”. I am committed to Prodipe because it’s a brand that listens to ”musicians. Prodipe’s line of headphones have been a great addition to my studio. These headphones have made them indispensable for playback. I also congratulate Prodipe on the affordable pricing for their full range of products. This is great news for professional and amateur musicians alike, as it is now possible to economically equip a studio with professional audio equipment without compromising on quality. CHRISTOPHER YOUNG Film composer • USA One of the foremost talents in film music today, Golden Globe-nominated composer Christopher Young has scored an impressive number of features in virtually every genre, all with strikingly original music. The spine-tingling «Hellraiser» showcases the composer’s seminal upbringing in horror; the new-techno sound of «Swordfish» displays his versatility; the resonant, genuine Celtic sounds of «The Shipping News» display his attention to detail; to the heart-pounding rhythms of «Spider-Man 3» are all evidence of his willingness to experiment. These scores are among the nearly 100 films that embody the work of this prolific composer.

My thanks to Prodipe, and my congratulations as well, for giving us the IEM7120 in-ear wireless system. It’s ultra-pro, and in all honesty, I’m proud to endorse the Prodipe brand because I know that plenty of musicians out there on a modest budget are going to be able to afford this type of system. And the thing is, I also have a huge amount of respect for Ludovic Lanen. We often bump into each other at events and I’ve been impressed by his work with Prodipe. His ideas are a game changer. So I’m with Prodipe!
