After the visit, continue to Sousse, a lively town located on the Mediterranean Sea. Day 3: Sousse – Kairouan – El-Jem – Sousse (220 kilometres) This morning visit Kairouan, a city founded in 670 AD by Oqba ibn Nafi as the first Islamic city in the Maghreb. Continue to El-Jem, home to some of the most impressive Roman remains in Africa, like the worldwide famous Roman amphitheatre of Thysdrus. Return to Sousse. Day 4: Sousse – Monastir – Port El Kantaoui – Sousse (65 kilometres) Visit the city of Monastir which is founded on the ruins of the Punic-Roman city of Ruspina. The city features a well preserved Ribat that was used to scan the sea for hostile ships as a defense against the attacks. Continue with a visit to Port El Kantaoui known for its marvelous beaches and marina. Day 5: Sousse – Hammamet – Tunis (150 kilometres) Morning is spent at your leisure. In the afternoon visit the spa town of Hammamet before you proceed to the airport for your departure flight.

For visitors, Cairo is the city of the pyramids, the sphinx, Khan Al Khalili bazaar and the Egyptian Museum, housing the world’s largest collection of Pharaonic art.

Did you know? Karkade (hibiscus tea), is one of the most common drinks in Egypt. It is served hot or cold and is a great thirst quencher. Abu Simbel’s statues and temples were cut into 30-tonne blocks and reassembled 60 metres higher up when the Aswan Dam was constructed to prevent the site from being flooded by Lake Nasser. There are more than 700 different Egyptian hieroglyphs, that originated from wall-paintings. Egyptian singer and actress Umm Kalsoum, who enjoyed a career spanning 50 years, is still regarded as the greatest female Arabic singer in history.
