Philosophy An adventuresome spirit and a pioneering enthusiasm were two of the inspirational forces that brought Emissary into existence in 1980. Our name Emissary was chosen because it describes in a word, our company philosophy: to be an emissary or ambassador for our international clients to the bountiful world of home accent resources from Asia. Emissary embodies this same passion with design by taking a refreshing direction and often adding a new modern twist on an iconic classic standard. We continue to bring an impressive variety of high quality decorative accessories to today’s market, many of which are original designs that were brought to life by our Creative Director Arthur Wang. Our aim is to present a unique product line in the upper middle price point that can range from an elegant porcelain triple gourd vase to a rustic primitive water garden container. Emissary will always strive to distinguish itself from its competitors by offering an ever-evolving variety of handcrafted products in vibrant colors and glazes that stretch the imagination.

Design Philosophy Our philosophy behind conceptualizing our line is to always look beyond the trends and current movement in design and create something that is timeless, yet fresh. We often find our inspiration from the iconic architecture and design from the past but look at how to reinterpret them with an unexpected twist or contemporary edge. Once we have the new designs then we can take it to the next level with our trademark glazes and colors to give them life. Many times we are offered a new inspiration for a particular product to evolve. Our garden stools for example, which have enhanced thousands of landscapes, are now being used as elegant side tables and seating in home decor. Once again we have an opportunity to look at these designs with fresh eyes and find the balance between functionality and art with a new target market. Arthur Wang joined Emissary in 2001 and has been a true visionary for original and innovative designs which continue to make Emissary a relevant leader in ceramic design.

Glazes Emissary offers over 200 unique glazes and vibrant colors in our product line and we have made it our mission to be the forerunner in this ancient art. We go to great lengths to find the villages and factories in China and Vietnam to make our distinctive glazes with an extraordinary array of colors. Our glazes vary from high-fired porcelain with their mirror-like finishes, to our reactive glazes, which form random designs and show incredible depth. These two processes produce an elegant and sophisticated finish on the ceramics. We also feature a line of primitive handmade and hand-glazed ceramics fired in century old “Dragon Kilns”(pictured on page 2) called “Hidden Village” where the color and texture of the glaze is determined by where it is placed in the kiln. This is truly an example of old world techniques at there best.

An International Company

Creative director Arthur Wang works out of the New York Market, creating original designs that continue to make Emissary a leader in outdoor decor innovations.

We participate in all major home decor and hospitality trade shows. Emissary maintains showrooms in Atlanta (International Gift & Home Furnishings Market), High Point (International Home Furnishings Center), and Dallas (Dallas Market Center), to connect with national and international buyers.

7

Our corporate offices are located in Atlanta, Georgia where we process orders, oversee product design/ development, and distribute product.

Our pottery is presently produced in five areas of China including one of our most popular lines the “Hidden Village Collection” being the most remote. The products are then ship out of the ports of Yaintin and Shanghai.

Our founder Peter Nealing travels both to Vietnam and China at least twice a year to work with the factories to develop new and unique designs that will set us apart in the market. These qualities are the foundation upon which Emissary’s success is built.

In Vietnam we have six factories including our own metal work factory as well as a village that produces our water hyacinth line. These handcrafted pieces are then shipped from the Port of Ho Chi Minh City.
